This game ... is fked
1. Worst ELO system
Stupidly unbalanced ELO system. In a normal ELO system, the ELO points have a smooth distribution. With 70% of players in bronze and silver ... the game is nowhere near. Combined with a convoluted league system and a major "downgrade" at the beginning of the season and you have .. a spaghetti
2. "ELO Hell"
Before shouting there's no "ELO hell," you are right. But the game tries to simulate one.
After a long losing streak and destroying my Win-Loss Ration. I started to test the game's limit. And it's obvious as fk. After a point the game wants you to lose. You are teamed as the top player in a team that is on average worse than the other one. This is a huge problem in a game where every key point is important. So unless you pick a ridiculous hard carry like Jax, you are fked. You have to play like never before, and that is very stressing, not fun and not on the idea of a team game at all. When the game expects you to always be the best player of your team is not a good sign. You need to be weaker in order to learn from you teammates.
You end up a player that has 0 team play and team oriented logic. Hence why so many higher divisions are full of "boosted" players. But they are not in reality. It's the game's doing, where after a point you need team play to succed, but before it teach you to avoid it or that it doesn't exist.
3. Toxic Community and 0 fks given
So like I mentioned before. Suddenly after a long winning streak, I hit a terrible losing streak. Which was ridiculous. I felt in some games that I was even better than before, yet it was so uncanny how from a previous winning machine you get trashed so hard all of a sudden. I was going in with the mentality that the problem is me. But after a while, I had a mental breakdown. It was obvious as fk the teammates were the problem and that realization made me incredibly toxic.
Yet I never got even a chat a ban. The whole game system that punishes every little misplacement or 0.1 slower reflex, with champions and mechanics that favor individualism instead of teamplay (in lower elo), combined with a downright retarded matchmaking system that fails to create decent teams and you get a toxic cauldron.
4. Kiss ass attitude
While you can see from a mile the game has serious problems, Riot managed to gather an army of fanatics to defend their crumbling kingdom. Most never ever got higher than plat, yet they are top class experts.
This creates a circle jerk that isn't benefic for the game. Developers need to be praised when they do something right, but when something is wrong they need to be scolded
5. Terrible quality
Aatrox rework made clearly by an inexperience designer. A broken new client that you were somewhat feed to you to use with terrible bugs. Constant server issues. Still lacking a decent tribunal system. Lower champion release rate. Etc
The game switched from high quality to a mediocre quality.
Profit by any means
The game used to be great, because Riot wasn't all about profit. They cared about the community and always strived to deliver a pleasant experience. But with the game growth and probably more stakeholders at bay, it shifted towards getting as much money as they can.
Why is the matchmaking trying to get you down and slow you? Have you wondered why you dropped almost 2 divisions at start? Because it needs you to play. And frustration is a huge retention mechanism. And it did work like a charm. Since I hit the losing streak I played 2x more LoL. I wanted to prove I'm still good. And it made me play and play like a degenerate
Just watch this sad video on how Riot shifted into money whore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke5G7W4XTAI , you would never hear such things 4 years ago
**The game is in a very terrible state. And if you don't see that I'm sorry for you. I did my part and share my thoughts. Atm it's time to uninstall and hit pause until the game gets better, in a game that teaches and nurtures players and teamplay. The game that once strived to be. **
I don't know if i can stay away though since at this point is an addiction, by this time i will try harder
