there has to be another way to approach akali shroud

this ability is just so fucking annoying. it is like yasuo wind wall but for literally everything. I can't fucking click on her, I get dove under tower and slowed by her Q, I can't even see what she's planning to do next. there is very little trasparency and the cool down is a joke

Make it cost Energy instead of giving it for free.

Shift the Energy restore power over to her passive so it actually feels rewarding to dart in and out of combat to proc it.

I'm sure there is, but I wouldn't approach it if I were on the task.

Akali's shroud feels really nice now. I used to hate it, but I like what it's become. You get glimpses of her now; brief chances to leap on her, where before you got none at all (unless you had true sight). The ring expands and she has to move with it or be exposed. As for tower diving, I've... actually never been successfully tower dived by an Akali. Like Fizz, Sejuani or Kayn, she's now a champion you simply can't stick to the tower against when low. "Discretion is the better part of valor" being a tired phrase as it is, it rings true here. Gotta know when to head back to base and fight another day against Akali.

fight another day? you mean if her shroud is down and if she's perma cc'd?

In the case of playing as Akali, as with many mobile squishies, it's important to judge when it's safe to engage or when the risk outweighs the reward. Judging when to dive with Akali isn't much different than judging when to use LeBlanc's W or when to jump in and ult with Katarina.

At least its more balanced than his windwall since u can still hit her with abilities.

you can also walk around windwall and hit your abilities

The cooldown is 17 seconds during laning phase and 11 at rank 5 (assuming no CDR), and that only starts counting down AFTER it's dissipated, but okay.

Other than that, her new shroud is a lot better than her old one was in terms of fairness. No more blink, she actually has to use it a lot more intelligently and while her tower diving is pretty strong (she will still take turret damage with every single procced attack/ability), pretty much every bruiser/assassin and hell, even mage has better diving capabilities than her current form, because she relies on DPS and poke more than anything now. It's also her only source of safety in lane, and if she uses it all the way at your tower and your jungler doesn't capitalize on that immediately, well that's just low ELO things I guess. Same as her old shroud, don't fight her in it, because you'll automatically lose that trade. I don't know why people have always been adamant on fighting her literally in the middle of her shroudwhere she can easily proc 2 or 3 passives on you. Once it's done, Akali is actually very squishy and blows up.

Maybe the true invisibility should go, but other than that, it's a LOT better in pretty much every single way than her old shroud was.

The fact Akali can heal from her ever-spammy Q with the meaningless-ly fake condition that it needs nearly full energy (which she has access to it as long as she's not in the middle of combat, which is a pointless condition as it's not a condition at all; now adding to that and the Q itself has like 0 CD) meant that CertainlyT knew that shroud could be used to camp people under their own turret, but precisely designed it as such. The "Akali can still be hit once she shows up" is such a meaningless counterplay when you realise that Akali can also heal whilst doing damage to you from stealth under your turret (that can't be fully revealed nor lock-on/clicked on even under turret because reasons) .

At this point, something should be done about his stupid metagaming of power budgets, implementation of intentionally fake conditions and fake counterplays in their shitty designs, and the ever-unstoppable radicalisation of champ concept that knows no bounds, rules, or any all proper considerations in regards to design logic 101 and the player experience of the game.

This I think is a valid concern, as we've seen many kits in recent times whose counterplay can itself be outplayed. Aatrox is super clunky and slow, but can also surprise-reposition with E so that an experienced player can juggle targets with his knockup. Zoe is meant to be weak at close ranges, but can still drop a fully lethal ERQR combo with the proper timing. Akali is supposedly meant to not be able to spam her heal, but can use her W to double-dip into quick healing in lane, with little her opponent can do about it. It definitely feels like the developers are trying too hard to be cute with some of their designs here, and I'm pretty certain they buy a bit too much into the whole "break the rules" schtick themselves, without realizing why those rules exist in the first place.

I love how you act like the energy requirement for heal is meaningless when in fact if you played literally a single game of new Akali and removed your bias you would realize that the energy requirement is actually quite a big deal. In a short trade Akali can get two heals off in quick succession with a qwq as she needs either 170-180 energy to get the heal (i cant recall exactly) that is legit 30-20 off max energy and she also has to actually hit the q (which I'll admit isn't really hard but it is a requirement) and up until akali gets her gunblade the heal really mean much early game without items the heal is honestly really weak and almost unnoticeable in my experience. The point I'm getting at is that overall Akali's sustain is very weak pre-gunblade (as it should be) and post gunblade it is pretty high but requires you to go for specific combos to get a burst heal or wait around for a significant amount of time (especially in a team fight) to have enough energy to heal again.

TL;DR Akali's healing is only significant post gunblade (which i feel is appropriate as its her biggest power spike) and still has counter play as she has to specifically try to do a heal combo to get a decent amount of health and if she is still squishy and burstable even with the healing.

Its 180 and until rank 4 the heal is basically garbage.

Honestly, there's no reason for it to make her actually go stealth. Just making her untargetable would probably still make it a strong ability.

It seems like it was more a theme decision to have her be stealth as opposed to anything to do with balance.

Her shroud is perfectly fine with the rework and I find it a lot easier to counter play her with it. with the fact you can actually see a silhouette so you can use your skill shots on her or bindings to get away or keep on her. previously she could just shroud and sit in it and just blow you up this way it actually applies some form of counter play ..

Example champions like Garen, amumu, morg. kat and so on can still see her moving in the shroud when your close enough so just fire your aoes on her.. heck even a wu kong can mess her up while shes in it..

the problem is yes shes strong on tower diving. but that's at one now with how weak towers are and if you're that low on hp heck yea she can dive you but ahri and leblanc kennen, and a lot more assassins a can do it too. hell Tryn can chase you under a tower ult and blow you up and spin out with out dying .

I think it should just be reverted. LET ME BUFFER JUMP, DAMNIT

shroud needs to be an ultimate to be remotely justifiable as an ability

I ended up stunning and eating an akali in her shroud as TahmKench so there is apparently some way to get her....

She definitely wasn't visible still, I only saw a glimmer effect, no username/healthbar but my 3 stacks popped up next to the glimmer so I tried to W and it ended up working...

We both were going WTF in chat...

Its literally stealth but better for no reason. Just make it a cloud that will stealth her if shes standing in it.
