There's no, "No! This is a random collection of stats and not a coherent item!" option, please fix this.

ExecutorDill1 votes

Well atleast you didn't write me off... i'd like if more people gave me suggestions (link the current commentors below) than tell me my idea isn't viable and downvote it :( I can learn a lot from your feedback ya know, like quicker/safer/stronger build paths.

Bodkins Odds2 votes

You want more coherent feedback? Okay. Pick what you want this item to do and make it do that. Right now it's a Defensive/AD/AP/CDR item. Is it a health stacking item, a damage item, a utility item?

I think you want it to be a health stacking item that doesn't screw over the builder's damage (not that one purely defensive item is going to make or break a tanks damage). But doing that by throwing three out of six damage stats on it does not a coherent item make. You'd be better off giving it hybrid penetration.

what if the 3%hp as AD turned into 3%hp as AP? then it'd give ap from the blasting want AP from the passive then the rest is just tank stats. maybe remove the armor in lue of more HP(so it's just HP and AP)

also, a slightly tanky Vladimire would love this. soo.. rito plz

Note to Self: "Maybe I really should have put... This item needs fixing for the vote option instead of I like waffles.. hmmm oh well" :P

This item feels...eh overall. Having spell vamp, AP and 3% Bonus AD from health combined just feels weak, especially for a tank item, and 3350g is more than most tanks want to spend. In addition, the number of hybrid tanks right now is tiny. I feel like replacing item 3145 with item 1053 or item 1037 would be much stronger. Maybe something like:

item 1037 +item 1031 +item 3067 + 525g (2900 total)

250 HP 15% CDR 50 Armor 30 AD

UNIQUE Passive: Gain AD equal to 2% of bonus health. UNIQUE Passive: Max health increased by 5%

Not Bad :D. But I wanted to help out AP tanks in particular like Maokai Shen and Singed. So they don't have to sacrifice a substantial amout of tankiness to get some much needed AP. The health scaling are to help the item scale into the late game.

Dear OP, the actual itemization problems aren't for for AP tank or for resistances tank, the true problem are for health tank and AD/AS tanks

AP tanks have items with armor + AP (Zhonya, Iceborn Gauntlet), health + mana (Righteous Glory, RoA), health + AP(Liandry, Rylai, the same RoA), AP + MR (Abyssal, BoC, Athene), together with the classic armor + health, armor and MR + health. You can actually build a pretty much good AP/resistence tank with the actual itemization available

It's AD/AS tanks which doesn't have an item for them, as the only item with AD/AS and some defense is Wit's, but it gives little defense if you can't keep autoattacking and tanks are meant to absorb CC for allies, so in fights it end up being not so much useful

And that's why I think your item is way too overloaded. There is no need to have in game an item with so much different stats, especially an item having AP and meant for AP tanks which are the one which are in a better situation right now and are the ones viable

P.S. The only one of the champs mentioned by you that can be defined AP tank is Maokai (and he was as matter of a fact actually in a pretty good state last season before the nerfs). Shen is an health tank (and that's why he is actually in a bad spot), Singed is just a peculiar champ on his own because of his gameplay patterns being so much different than everything else in the league and because he relies on mana stacking as much as few other champs( es. Ryze, Urgot) leading him to be just not a meaningful example to use to judge the role of AP tanks into the game because he just builds different from a standard AP tank

ExecutorDill1 votes

Singe players often buy RoA. If that's not AP then i don't know what is...

Jubbinaut1 votes

RoA is a solid tank item for Singed. The Health is evident, but the Mana on the item scales through his passive for even more health. The fact that it gives AP is almost secondary to that - though it does help him remain a threat.

Still, between item 3027 and item 3040, Singed tends to get plenty of damage, and both of those improve his survivability significantly. I'm not sure an item like this would be especially meaningful on him, specifically because he's weird thanks to that passive.

The concern regarding the item itself, to me, is that AP + scaling AD seems disjointed and incoherent. I'm also a little wary of having both of those passives on the same item.

Ale non è male1 votes

OMG. Are you dense? Singed is a guy that doesn't go the typical tank AP itemization rule because he can build mana to get health. No other tank Ap can even think about building Seraph's Embrace like Singed can for tankiness, for example and this speaks volume about his peculiarity

You can't think about a new item for helping tank AP having Singed as reference for balancing this new item

ExecutorDill1 votes

The only resistant ap item that doesn't give mana is Zhonya. All the other are a complete waste on shen that's why I am doing this. This item would be essential to him and other future resourceless champs that mainly or only scale with AP.

Also Zhonya is way too expensive to buy early game :(

My Dream...

Hextech Exo Suit >> Zhonya

Ale non è male1 votes

Shen is primarily an health tank since he is not meant to do much damage and he just need to soak it up for allies, and health tanks suffer not for the lack of itemization , but because of the overall anti-health itemization and abilities beating health itemization

The only resistant ap item that doesn't give mana is Zhonya.

item 3001 would like to protest that statement. I'd argue that item 3116 would as well.

Zazusha1 votes

whats witht he 15% cdr? there's one item with that ammount, and Rito wanted to change that a while ago. Its awkward to build around with, and requires Runes/Masteries to have 5%.

Also theres too much in that, build path is wierd, and Riot isn't a fan of Balls of stats.

ExecutorDill1 votes

Fine i'll use ruby crystal instead... :P

ExecutorDill1 votes

it's not hard that hard... this item plus ionia boots will give you 30% without master, you just will need an extra 10% from one of the 10% items. But fine i'll use ruby crystal instead... :P

Zazusha1 votes

what tank builds Ionian boots?

Duke Anax1 votes

definitely needs more health, that's the biggest issue Tanks have currently getting enough health.

So, both the flat base and the % bonus are too weak.

ExecutorDill1 votes

This item is to be used inco-ordination with other tank items like Randuins, Sunfire and so on... So the bonus health and ad only become substantial when you have like 3 - 4 other tank items. That way it will be completely useless to a bruiser who only needs 1 or 2 tank items to be a pain in the ass. I'm looking at you >.> JarvanIV Vi Jax

Duke Anax1 votes

5% is not much, even when you reach 4000 Health, that's only 200 bonus. So even when you combo it, it doesn't surpass some of the other choices you could take. Sunfire for example: same health, slightly less armor, but usually more damage (depending on skillset)

Also you include base health, which is usually much higher than item health, so it wuill benefit everyone. To make it a Tank item it needs to be % Bonus Health.

let's shift it a little:

item 3191 + item 1011 + 600 = 2800 Armor 30 AP 25 HP 400 +3% Bonus Health as AP and Armor +17,5% Bonus Health

I realise using hextech gunblade and kindlegem inherited some unavoidable stats like CDR and SpellVamp. Also they make the item way too expensive for tanks so i used the relatives of those items :P Ruby Crystal and Blasting wand, changed some stats and reduced the recipe cost by 50gp. hope this helps

Erockandroll1 votes

I would be weary about using sustain items on tanks. LS and vamp don't do real well when you don't do much damage. While passive sustain amounts could overbuff tanks who are already good sustainers.

If tanks can't duel in lane (and they really shouldn't), then they should be allowed to stay in lane (without becoming Overbearingly tanky) and the source of that is probably HP5 Since HP5 has swaped towards % base Regen. Tanks can be buffed to better scale with HP5 items.

With the current state posted. All I think of is

"WOW this will make Rumble and Maokai even more of an overbearing monster then they already are."

ExecutorDill1 votes

... Tanks need to fight back ya know. Maokai and rumble are hardly played. I never saw any of them in any of my matches unless i decided to play them, and i have been playing this game for like 4 to 5 years

Then how are they rather highly contested picks in the LCS?

Edit: Today's game, C9 vs CLG both Rumble and Maokai picked as top laners.

ExecutorDill1 votes

With the exception of LCS (lol i knew i was forgetting something). Tank items are expensive. There are way to many tank ap items that come with mana. Regular tanks only need 1 mana item and semi-resourceless champs like Shen will waste valuable gold when building them. We need something like Zhonya but with less AP and more armour and a side ability that emphasizes tankability.

Currently the only thing item 3191 builds into is item 3157. I find it a nice place for tanky champs and casters who want a bit of resistance :3
