Honestly it sucks that you are forced to buy two items of 1250g to build it, can't we just change the build path of 
just like

Call me crazy but I actually liked when Rabadons was . 90% of the time you have room for , and you just buy rabadons straight after that, while getting more AP for cheaper. It takes a lot longer to get the gold for another late game while everybody's farming, and you're only paying an extra 35 gold to complete it straight out from those two items, whereas most of the time with current , you're going back to base on 3 separate occasions to buy the thing. It'd be nice to have an extra 40 AP earlier imo.

I tend to buy it somewhat early and the new build path is a godsend.
I generally don't buy it until I have all my early pen so I can destroy people early. My go to build is usually 
. Then I finish 
and get a void staff because I know someone's gonna build MR. Void Staff is generally better if they start building MR(and it's almost 1k cheaper), so I put my Rabadon's off for later on in the game. Usually after Zhonya's, which I build 4th, unless they don't build MR.
LightIsMyPath1 votesIt may be cause I 'm almost not seeing tanks (I don't even buy void most of the games.. I don't think enemies having mercury threads as their only Mr item justifies it). I usually buy my luden, sorcerers, oblivion orb and straight into rabadon. If they have a beefy team however I may skip the orb and go directly for the rabadon to then add a void staff asap

While this is true, Deathcap offers just AP. Generally, other items are better to buy early, since they have more utility or extra sources of damage.
