#Disclaimer: I'm just venting how I personally feel. If you wish to use "LOL I SEARCHED YOU ON OP.GG AND YOU HAD A BAD GAME ONCE HAHA #DEBUNKED" as a counterpoint, then so be it.

Over the years, you've gradually made League more and more team-oriented, to the point where games are decided by which troll turns the game into a 4v6, instead of by which smurf can 1v9. If you're a good player, you still NEED other players on your team to be at least competent in order to win. Because if you're the only good player on your team, and the enemy becomes aware of this in the mid-game, there's a chance they'll use all of their hard cc on you, chaining you down for as long as it takes for you to die whilst your team stands around you, thinking something dumb like, "Look at all those abilities they just used! They'll probably use those on me if I go in, so I'll stand here and watch until all of their cooldowns refresh!" It happens. You know there are people in Silver who don't capitalize on enemy cooldowns.

Now, this isn't always right. I've managed to win a few 1v9's and 2v8's, but that's only if and when the enemy team was only 2IQ higher than my team. Because Silver is a coinflip ELO. You've all heard my rants about how Silver isn't a real elo. There are people like me in Silver, with Gold borders and screwed over by going 8/2 in the preseason placements and still dropping 7 tiers. We farm safely, we don't overextend, we make good trades, we ward, we check the map for upcoming ganks, and we simply don't feed over and over because "I SAW NB3 DO THIS." But then, there are those fresh, level 30 accounts that get placed in Silver MMR to do their first 10 provisional games, who do the exact opposite. So one feeding pile of trash has the ability to impact up to 45 Silver/Gold players before getting placed in Bronze where they belong.

It's reaching the point where I can't even enjoy it, anymore. I don't even get angry at the enemy when they 5v1 me under my own tower. I'm just angry at the 0/4/0 top, mid, adc and jungler for giving them enough gold to give me my first death. Even in my last game, I carried as Rakan support. I landed my heals, I shielded the person getting focused, and I cc'd the person who did damage. But my ADC made that as non-enjoyable as possible. I was 4/0/5 at one point. We were teamfighting, so I ulted in, brought 3 people down to 400 health all on my own, procced my delayed Q heal, and then I E'd back to my ADC for a good trade and a heal. Except, my ADC flashed away when I did that, leaving me vulnerable as I walked towards him as fast as I could. I spam-pinged for assistance, for all Varus had to do was STOP walking for 0.35 seconds, as Varus stood 2 pixels outside of my E casting range. He didn't. He just continued to walk. And after the enemy finally killed me, they killed him as well, making it all pointless. He did it TWICE in a row! I wasn't just tilted. I was infuriated. I was outraged!

Do you think I wake up in the morning and think, "Whom shall I publicly call a 'mother fucking mother fucker' today?" Do you think anyone gets on League and thinks, "I can't WAIT for my ADC to ruin this game for me and make me lose 19 LP?" No! No one does! But I did what anyone who knows the pain of a bad ADC does: I stole his CS, I stole his kills, and I ignored him in teamfights and let him die. Not only because that little piece of shit deserved it, but because if I can let go of the pretentious fallacy that we need an ADC to win games, we can turn things around and win without him. So I ignored the little bastard. I let him rot. I gave him the grey screen of a lifetime. And you know what? I helped my top, and I helped my mid. I healed/shielded them, and I built full AP so I could 2v1 the enemy ADC and support. So in the end, I went 16/2/18, I earned an S+, and I won us the game.

But even in the post-game screen, my mid said "I hate supports like this!" because I was deemed "toxic" for saying "Someone please get an Executioner against the mundo" around 20 times in that 40-minute game, because no one bothered to. My ADC said, "STFU RAKAN, U GARBAGE SUPP, REPORTED," because he had no idea how to farm/kite/look at his damn map, and I was done paying for his mistakes. Did I have fun completely stomping that game? Honestly, yes and no. I truly enjoyed the mechanics Rakan has when it comes to going in, out, in and out of fights. There's a feel of whimsy and majesty to it. But my team still found a way to suck the joy out of every second of it with their poor decisions, over and over again.

I've been to Gold 2 before. I enjoyed every second of it! I felt free! I felt like I could actually have an impact in my games that my teammates could appreciate. But in Silver, it feels like nothing I do matters --- that I'm just a mere 10% in an equation of "How many people will feed in this match." A variable. A factor. Nothing with a soul. Just a number.

I hate Silver.

The experience of being in silver is compounded by how dependent you are on your teammates to simply stay in the game. Good luck ever getting out when you can't make up for their god awful plays. It used to be practical to get out of silver by one's own personal skill, now it's just a waste of time, unless you're so good you belong in Plat+. Every game is a lottery and it's fucking irritating. Why would I play a lottery in LoL, when I can go to Vegas and win real money doing it?

The problem with silver elo is how brainless the players in there are, at least most of them. They never listen, they don't understand what a good play consists of. You might be hard carrying one game, but they can flame you in the game because you stole the blue buff or something. You can be splitpushing and taking a top lane inhibitor, asking your team to just waveclear, and then they start ??? pinging you, because they engaged a 4v5 and lost and ask for reports.

Literally, silver elo is just such a bad experience to play at, if you are not smurfing. A low gold - silver player will have a bad time, because it will be hard for them to solo carry a game there. So many brainless people.

In my first season I got to Silver 1 playing split push Tryndamere and Tristana mostly (Yes, I did a lot of research on it before just jumping into ranked)

Most games would be won with me taking every single objective my team got and them saying "report sangre, did nothing all game."

this is why i stopped playing ranked. and very rarely play it now

i had a VERY hard game where i got a good adc but a complete trash mid laner. as support i got my adc fed

but it was a long grueling game as they had an absurdly fed jungle top and mid we got our top and our jungler back in the game easily enough, and after 45 min facing a fed Rengar and fed late gameVeigar and TahmKench there to save their ass any time they miss stepped.. we pulled out a victory.

i added the adc as my friend.. but that was his last game of the night

https://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2776112923/207008136?tab=overview this was that game.

the next game i had another Vayne who not only couldn't play to save her life, was raging, flaming and trying to blame anyone but herself.

and i got to clip this amazing play from the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrouZHBWQ4M

it doesn't matter that you sometimes get a "free win" because it happens to the other team as well. i don't have fun winning games because they were down a player or their player as a completely noob

i enjoy even matches. the problem is i NEVER get them.

in unranked i am playing with players ranging from silver to plat, with the occasions bronze thrown in if i duo with friend with lower elo than me.

but its frankly no fun playing ranked.. i can work my ass off for 50 min for a hard fought victory only to have some moron completely throw they game 5 min into the next game...

Zyra already blew everything to get the Vayne that low and it was why i didn't have my Q ready for so long.

i swaer we already died twice becuase Vayne was an idiot then Sivir finally misplays and tower dives and i punish her for doing so but nope.. Vayne fucks up that to and turn her misplay into her advantage.. now giving her a 4/0 lead..

Hmm, from my experience, I'd say that a third of my games are even. The other two thirds are stomp, one third for each side.

Thing is, that 45 minute game where your Mid fed horribly, that WAS an even game. Maybe it was grueling, and stressing, and not enjoyable for you, but that was a close game where both teams had a fair shot at Victory. It was even. If you didn't enjoy that (which is perfectly alright, that's not my point), it means what you enjoy isn't "even matches". I don't know what it is exactly, but it's not that.

what i meant by "even" wasnt "both player have an equal number of good player"

yeah we each had 4 good players and 1 feeder... and we won becuase THIER feeder was thier adc... and ours was Anivia,

what i meant was "every player is of equal skill

sure the MATCH was even due to a bad player being on BOTH teams. but what we should have is everyone with the same skill lvl"

if we assume gold 5 mmr is 2000 (making up numbers here idk) and both teams ha have a 8800 mmr total becuase each team has 4 players with gold five's 2000 mmr and the 5th player on each team has 800 the team skill level is technically even.

but the player skill lvl isnt

and sure that might work just fine for games like overwatch becuase you dont get "Stronger" for getting more kills.

but it doesn't work in games like league

I agree, especially from a role that's not traditionally seen as a carry role. You can win lane as a support, but the rest of your team is negative or has been feeding all game? There's almost nothing you can do outside of a throw by the enemy or a miracle team fight to turn the game around because they need gold and they need items, but most people don't understand that you don't need to fight to get back into the game unless there are inhib turrets on the line. It's also extremely frustrating to play solo because it feels like there's nothing consistent between game to game. I could have an amazing ADC one game, then get an ADC who's playing their first ever game of something like Jhin. We could be down to inhib turrets in less than 20 minutes or a single turret could not have gone down in the first 15 minutes.

Would like to confirm this.

Unless you're so good you can land in plat 5, getting out of silver is the most impossible thing ever, not only do you have to play against high gold/plat 5s, but also be on the lookout for bronze 1 players on both sides, the skill level between both types is just insurmountable, let's not even begin to mention the amount of smurfs in the lower brackets..

I think this is why the new ranked changes come s9 are going to add a division between bronze - - silver and plat - - diamond

I went out of Silver 5 times. And I do hope to reach Plat 5 this season, but I'm preeeetty sure I didn't have a Plat-level of skills last year, but I still managed to get out of Silver rather easily.

not only do you have to play against high gold/plat 5s

To get out of Silver1 into Gold5? That's just plain wrong. If you're having a hard time grinding and barely have the level to reach Gold, you're against Gold4, Gold3, maximum. I'm in Gold3 right now and I'm just starting to have Plat5 in my games now.

You're a cool guy.

I unfortunately play top and have no such control over bad matchmade games like you can bot; then again I could build straight damage like everyone's apparently supposed to and win the low/mid-ranked games it wouldn't in any other season by flailing around on my keyboard. I'm not in Silver like I started off this season - I'm back to Gold 4 - but I really can't stand the current meta, let alone ranked, for more than a couple games every two months anymore. Just to make sure it still sucks and still has absolutely nothing to do with ACTUAL meta and team synergy. They've destroyed the concept of "meta", unless the only meta left is which champion of which generic genre is the only one worth playing as portrayed by the LCS which people now can't STAND to watch, Hashinshin was right about that.

Here's to the future, and to better games, better friends and a better time for all.

Yea I hate silver games. Even though I'm currently ranked in gold, and maybe even plat soon on my smurf, my win rate in a silver game isn't spectacular.

Too many people feeding and doing stupid shit that takes priority over any good plays you can make.

However, if you belong higher than silver, you'll get there after 100 games or less.

Turtles Are Okay5 votes

As a P2 main, I can't climb silver games.

I thought I can maintain plat games at a 70% win-rate but I can no longer. Legit 150% of my losses are due to auto-fills + sfirst timers in ranked. It's so frustrating, it's unreal.

SirLapse5 votes

Duo bot lane went 0/13 and 0/11. Team was actually doing competently without them, but eventually the 3v7 became evident when the Lucian said "I don't want to win." It is not my team's fault he brought Conqueror on Lucian.

I'd rather not get these coin flip scenarios that are so common in mid silver to low gold. Hell, I even lost a 16/4/10 game because my jungler decided to engage on the support. I got baited by the play and we lost off of it. I can excuse the game based on my misplays, not based on the ADC that decides to walk up by himself without peel or support after being told to not do so, then gets Noc ulted.

They're planning to add more ranks, but a little consistency even now would be much appreciated.

Silver 4 - Plat 3 is honestly the worst elo. You just never know what you are gonna get. You can get a Gold 1 player who plays like a Diamond, or plays like a silver guy. The ranks are so fucked up, you just can't know what to expect. Like, I play Janna sometimes, and I see my ADC being plat 5, while the enemy AD is gold 3 and I'm like "yo, this should be an easy lane", and then the enemy AD just outtrades, outcses my AD, and I'm sitting there like "how the fuck is this guy plat 5 compared to the other guy being gold 3?" Literally, the divisions and ranks are completely fucked up. Having a bad game is not an excuse when most players play far better or far worse than their actual division.

(I'm sorry but I can never stop laughing about how your name unintentionally works so well with your titles)

Anyways after playing in Silver, yes, everything is true. I'm lucky because I play duo with my competent friend who can actually PLAY the game, so I haven't lost a game yet. It's literally just whether or not you have a good or bad adc that decides the match now because they have so much impact on a game that makes me annoyed. I'm not going to play with an adc who still overextends when I ping the enemy Yasuo is gone from mid, and then proceeds to flame me for not pinging. Now, let me say this. I am not necessarily the greatest adc either. But if you can't have a good sense of judgement on when to go in, good communication and actual common sense, you shouldn't play ranked. That's literally why I started ranked at like levels 70-90, and stuck to blind pick (Trust me, it helps).

Fear the Kayn3 votes

It's because Silver has by far the highest amount of skill diversity. There are some player in silver that are REALLY good and just don't play enough to actually rank up, and then you have your noobs who definitely deserve lower who also don't play enough to derank. Then there are the players who actually deserve Silver. It's a very strange place indeed.

Power Cosmic3 votes

It does feel like good players in Silver are severely handicapped in matchmaking for the sake of giving bad players 50/50 games.

Saezio3 votes

First of all. NEVER play support in silver if you are looking to climb. Play K6/eve/shaco and carry yo ass to plat then start playing the role you like. Secondly, do you start the game with a possitive attitude? Like, do you say please thank you and type what you think the team should be doing? Do you encourage your team with a "GJ mate" after your 0/3 mid gets his first kill because you ganked? Do you tell them "Don't worry guys we got this". I have found out (after 2 banned accounts for flaming) this shit really matters in lower elo because the players are so insecure and get very agitated after small things.

It's really depressing actually. 😣

Most silver players don't seem to understand the objectives (the actual steps towards a victory). And NO! IT'S NOT KILLS - which brings me to second point: 90% of silver players seem OBSESSED with kills! 4 enemy die near their base - we still have 3 champions left with life above 50% "who can push and win (as easy as that)" - but they go back to take Dragon or Baron! W T F!!!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD YOU STEP AWAY FROM A FREE WIN "FOR DRAGON/BARON"????!! WHY!!?? 😤 Other times - at minute 25 the game is 23 - 7 in our favor and they keep splinting - wandering all over the map to farm "AND GET MORE KILLS". While latter the enemy starts playing as a team - and we loose horribly. This happens 7/10 games. FFS!! And yes --> kills imply gold -> Gold implies better items and easier kills/push. Which obviously matters. But KILLS DON'T WIN GAMES! The Objectives do. If you can take kills on your lane - early game or in a gank - that would be great, but "DON'T IGNORE THE OBJECTIVES - by chasing kills! 😐

Another thing that can get the whole team tilted: flaming since champ select, stuff like.... "you ban Yasuo - i troll!" Or even since the beginning of the game - since the first death. You die one time - you already hear: Report bot/top lane for feed! Plus all the insulting words you can think of.

Or attitudes like: "sorry i don't play support and picks some other roll - that's already taken - tiling the other player since champ select". If you want to play rank games - it's mandatory to have some basic knowledge of every role - in case of auto-fill. Nobody's privileged (excluded from auto-fill). We all have to play support or some other role once in awhile - you spoiled brat! League of Legends is not own by your father!" 😒

I have to agree that Silver can be such a lucky crap shoot even as a support main here I do get some adcs who aren't decent enough.

I am aware that my SoloQ adc or my other allies wont coordinate well anyway because we only communicate with pings (using chat is pointless) and if you live in the EUW people don't properly understand every English word right off the bat.

in SoloQ ranked I've had some matches where I've lost my mind at someone not team working or underperforming and vice versa it's a common thing that I have to get used to and it can be a pain sometimes to the point I'll just rage at someone.

Now this may sound like cheating to some of you but I prefer playing Flex Ranked you get more competent players on both teams, I very rarely see arguements in matches and when someone flames the team arguement tends to die off quickly most of the time.

Overall Flex players are more cooperative, understanding, and just better at the game. I got lucky and won a bunch of games in just 3 days and reach gold 5 then just left all ranked modes for good this season.

I know some of you are gonna hate me for playing FlexQ but I do recommend people to play it. I never got angry in this mode. I have seen some bad plays, I say sorry if i make a mistake or if my adc/jungler dies when they think my heal or cc should be up etc.

Also with how my life is going right now I need to be positive as much as possible.... so... yeah I rather not go through the stress of SoloQ ranked just for a victorious skin when I can do a slightly easier mode.

Basicly when it comes down to it: SoloQ attracts more people and this obvious attracts bad players/toxic players so... yeah.

Last season i got gold 5 with alistar support using level 1 ganks on top with high move speed runes and armour runes only.

This season my golden ticket came from Nami, Right now Nami is better than Janna. I'm not gonna go into all the math stuff on her moves but with the new runes she can give a barrier if she casts her heal or her E damage buff. She can spam her ultimate alot thanks to the CDR. There is the CDR rune where if you keep on buying more CDR you gain adaptive damage so i get tons of AP. Ardent/Athenes/Redemption/Cooldown Boots/Locket/Rabadon or a Luden's echo. You can just spam your Heal in team fights where the enemy will take massive magic damage from your spells and not know it because Nami is a very underated op champion in the right hands. not only can she do crazy buffs to her team like janna can but she out damages janna to and because your W is so safe to use you can spam it to heal your allies and damage enemies with 0 effort.

Why do you have to play one spesific champion and a spesific way to get gold if this game is supposed to be fun is the real question.

Also as a support if the teams aren't somewhat balanaced you can't do much. I know all about it because i main support.

Getting enemy adc to 100 hp and watching my carry hit minions in frustration while top is getting 0/5 and top laner snowballing the game

DeathBurst2 votes

Games can be kind of a coin flip, yes. The good thing with a coin flip is that if you play long enough, you KNOW it will be 50-50 head and tails.

In LoL, due to how the match-making functions* you should expect to lose at least 4 every 10 games. It's normal. Once you realize that, it helps you relativize any single loss. Look at it and think, "yep, it's one of those 4 games", and move on to the next one. You'll do it in the end, the trick is just to not tilt and keep pushing.

*(And NO, the match-making doesn't function by forcing you at a 50% winrate, goddammit people, that's not what I said. It works by giving you fair matches where both teams have the same chances to win.)

Lol what the hell is this comment section? Silver pity party? Yes you will lose games because your team feeds. If you play CONSISTENT and WELL your winrate will be 51% or higher not 50%. That's just an overblown extreme. I never claimed to be challenger, far from it. I'm in plat 3, Silver ELO is a hellhole and can be easily summed up by a coinflip. Sure skill can win you a small % of games but it's generally down to luck especially since season 6.

P.S. Have you ever heard of alt accounts? fucking stupid bellend.

Ok. In my humble opinion silver is far better then most elos. I'm in gold II currently and I'm seeing afks and inters far more frequently. I disagree that games are coinflips everytime though. Some are definitely. Had 2 games in 2 days where a teammate afked after dying first blood. Those games are coinflips. But I have also had games which with I carried hard, and I'm certain we would've lost if I didn't step up. Vice versa, I have a nice 1/9 Darius game which I solo lost us the game. These games were on me, not an imaginary coin. This is my experience and I'm grateful to share opinions with you.

PS: I know its your alt :) Can you take some salt out of your comments, speaking like that makes you sound like a raging 12 year old, just sayin. Either way I used to be 12 and I wasn't the wisest person. Cheerios

Just don't like stupid questions. Or this community. Nothing personal.

No offense taken. But to be fair you are the part of the community which most players hate. Toxic people who call others " fucking stupid bellend" People who whine because Riot is a "useless retard" company. I respect their opinions but saying that you hate the community when YOU ARE the toxic part of it is just plain dumb. Cya on the rift bucko!
