don't forget that with the nerf to some MR items (abyssal got a MR buff) there is another thing making defending against AP champions difficult. Dragon Buff #1. decreased MR on some items + 8% more enemy AP does not end well for the champion on the receiving end of the Buffed mage

No.

People forget that AD itemization has inherit benefits such as auto attack damage, which leads to easier early game CSing and all game better tower killing/split pushing.

Case Example: Zed can lose lane horribly and just switch to an off pusher that clears minions as fast as any AP mid with the added benefit of being an auto attacker and taking down towers just as fast as any ADC. Try having that flexibility as an AP mage.

It makes perfect sense for AR to be easier to itemize than MR knowing that.

You do realize AP does equate to massive tower damage.

I understand that a ratio goes to tower damage, but AD champs get the benefit of building attack speed and/or armor pen into their build and having it be viable (similar to AP champs and mana regeneration), so it's still not even close. If you think Orianna, Lux, etc. can do anywhere near the damage of Zed or Jayce split pushing on towers then you haven't played very much.

As someone who plays a lot of Lux. THIS. AP ratios help, but any mage not named Ziggs usually struggles to push towers. Let's not even bring up that Sheen is only viable on a select few of them. The trade off is supposed to be that AP champs have more utility and do damage over an area while most AD champs are relatively single-target. What skews it more I'd say is lifesteal. AD champs have access to hugely efficient sustain that most AP champs just can't get. Spellvamp is terrible on most mages precisely BECAUSE they do area damage, which gimps the spellvamp heal to almost nothing.

However, AP already account for that factor by having higher stat values along with superior actives compared to the AD counterparts. Additionally, AP split pushing CAN be done now if the champion has a Sheen item, banner of command, or Baron Nasher's buff.

It has always been a given that AP scales much better than AD to give incentives for champions to build AP for damage if they have AD ratios as well. Nerfing MR while leaving armor mostly intact will only further widen the gap between AP and AD for better or worst.

By building sheen they are sacrificing AP damage for that specific effect, and its still inferior to an AD caster who can build armor pen and/or attack speed into their natural build, such as Zed, Jayce, or Pantheon.

AP scales much better then AD?

If you are talking pure numerical values then yea, I guess you win that case.

However, only a portion of that goes to any kind of auto attack damage, and only on certain targets (not champions) and there are very few viable items to mix attack speed into an AP's kit, still giving AD scaling champions a massive advantage in this area.

Magic pen exists for AP casters as well; although, I do see your point with AD casters.

Being able to stack AS and AD despite being "casters" technically puts them ahead of a traditional AP mage.

However, AS is a double edged sword in terms of dps. A champion such as Zed does not naturally reach 1 attack per second, albeit quite close, which means that he will have to get AS from items, which often do not come with much AD.

The only valid argument against AD is crit with IE passive, which can put it on par with AP.

My original point was that AP can already put out higher damage values in a short period of time than AD. It does not make sense to further buff AP and make it harder to itemize against.

Zed is a bad example since he is overpowered, even though Zed players do their best to deny it and downvote anbody who mentions it.

Fine.

Jayce, Pantheon, Gnar, Lee Sin, Renekton, Regnar, Talon, Yasuo.

All these champions get the inherit advantage of their abilities scaling with their auto attack damage, and have just as much utility/clearing/assasinate power as AP champion counter parts.

Renekton pretty meh now.

MR itemization was already horrible enough. It did not need nerfs.
