Please don't do to mages what you did to adcs

Just as an example, Caitlyn was reworked, but there really wasn't a rework. You just added long range crits to her E and traps. This wasn't a 'rework' it was just a massive friggin buff. Every champ just got net damage piled onto it and there was no defensive considerations made to make up for that in any way.

Please don't do this to mages. I don't want to get 100-0d by every mage at level 3 with just a Dorans ring because they landed a single skill.

So you don't want them to make certain mages more unique and give mages new tools to work with and fortify their differences+give them more options?

I mean it's not like adcs are unbeatable, tanks and assassins intertwine with them a lot more fluidly now too with all the changes.

I am all for them doing to mages what they did to adcs.

I think their focus on mages is their lack of movement, not their damages. In fact, the update is supposed to target "Immobile mages" alone. This might be to try and counter assasins or enemies that punish slow enemies.

You get 100-0'd by everyone apparently so mages shouldn't be too big of a deal ;p

Uh, Caitlyn didn't get buffed. She's actually been struggling more than other AD carries following the patch because her Q and E both got significantly narrower and less reliable, and she lost a large chunk of attack speed. Loss of reliability is a pretty huge nerf to eat, and it has definitely hurt her. There's a reason she's fallen pretty near the bottom of the pack for AD carries, and it isn't because of any "massive buffs".

I don't know if it was the gutting of the defensive mastery tree and the buff to the offensive ones, but a lot of people mentioned consistently the burst this season is out of hand, it makes teamfighting feel really gimmicky.

Bit now you actually see most adc being played. .. instead of just 2

Dude, they took Caitlyn, and just added a massive range to her headshots and let them auto-proc on traps and E. That's a net gain of damage. Her Q has a 160% AD ratio and you're calling that unreliable?

That's not the point of the post, the point was the lack of compensation added. They just said 'Let it do a shit ton more damage in some way' and called it a class overhaul.

Just as an example, I don't want them to just say 'Zyra needed more emphasis on her plants, so we added true damage to them.' and call that a 'rework', when all they did was give her the ability to do more damage earlier on which just continues to enforce the snowball meta.

I would like to request that you click the reply button when responding to people. I would not have seen your comment if I hadn't looked back here for other reasons. If you click reply, it would notify me, which makes the discussion easier.

Her Q has a 160% AD ratio and you're calling that unreliable?

Yes. It lost a third of its width. The E lost width and slow duration and missile speed and dash distance as well. That's why she's preforming worse than she used to. The loss of reliability and the lowering of her self-preservation strengths hurt her more quite a lot, arguably more than the buffs she received helped her. I'm quite comfortable calling her a nerfed champion.

That's not the point of the post, the point was the lack of compensation added.

I'd call making the skills significantly more difficult to hit and much easier to dodge is a pretty big form of compensation. I'd say a loss of autoattack dps is compensation. You're overfocusing on the potential ideal damage without looking at how that damage is applied and how much more unreliable it is, and how much easier it is to take her out of her ideal situation. That's a pretty big piece of balance, and you're not giving it anywhere near enough credit.

If the reworks work like Cait's, and add potential power but also add a lot more room to play against the champion and make them significantly weaker when you do play against them successfully, then I'll consider that ideal.

You use Caitlyn as an example and make it sound like she completely became overpowered... yet shes not picked as often as Lucian, Kog, Sivir, or Kalista right now

Let me just give you an example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwdojhLcz48

In this video, a Lucian full rotations, 3 passive double shots, a karma, and it does maybe 50% of her hp early on.

You play karma and eat that damage NOW, you're gonna die or be forced to back. I think it's extremely unhealthy for lane pressure to be determined by a single trade, it narrows the meta, promotes risk averse play (Which is boring) and allows for little to no mid-teamfight counterplay.

Don't worry they are. They are already talking about nerfing items that work well against mages, before they over haul their own itemization and change them. So I'm sure the mage update will be like all the other, with new mechanics and items that break the game and ruin diversity. But don't worry when it happens to mages it will be ok because mages.

mages can already do that to you. so nothing new then?

Id rather see some new ap items added/changed to be less shit and cost less.
