I really don't understand why Soraka is being banned more than usual...

Were the changes not supposed to help make her a healthier, more interactive champion??? I am seeing her banned MUCH more frequently than usual. I've barely played her since this patch released compared to playing her every 3-4 games. Did the changes not meet its intended goals? Is she considered more unfun than ever, despite having her laning phase hit relatively hard by having lower self-sustain innately?

I'm confused why she's literally permbanned now.

It turns out that Riot can't actually balance a dedicated healer in this game. What's even better is that in the larger scale of things, she's more unhealthy now than she was prerework. IMO the unhealthiest part of her old kit was the targeted silence. But I'd rather see that than her Qing every few seconds and reconstituting herself over and over while her team stalls.

They did nothing to really fix her.

thing is, before the rework, she was just numerically bad, after the rework while they introduced counterplay, it became beneficial for her to go tank because of warmogs, so now she becomes something of the undying healer brand < which is cool as shit> but that makes her a problem because she becomes the source of health bars that make killing the team more like killing 6-7 people instead of a max of 5, which is a problem.

She was best off building tank before, too. Nothing really changed.

Her winrate is a little better this patch, but it was good last patch too.

Probably because if she heals someone with the Q buff, windspeakers stays on that guy for years. Or it might be because her Q slows hard no matter where you hit it now.

The patch arguably made her stronger. 40 health less healed isn't significant enough. At rank 1 her W still heals for 220 base (Windspeaker's), while providing armor and mr, and that doesn't even factor in AP from runes, masteries, and starting item. The default heal is slightly lower, but has the potential to be substantially stronger if used while under the effects of Rejuvenation.

Old Rank 5 W - 240 base New Rank 5 W (If under effects of Rejuvenation) - 200 base and 121 damage over the next 5 seconds. (24.2 health per second)

Now consider that with the duration of Rejuvenation and CD of Astral Infusion (Even without CDR) an improved W can be done 2x with 1 instance of Rejuvenation.

Old Wx2 - 480 New Wx2 - 400+242

This would all be fine if hitting Starcall was a challenge, but in a teamfight it isn't. All other times the lesser heal is insignificant as Soraka prioritizes building to be able to spam heals on CD, making the 40hp less insignificant. On top of all of that Rejuvenation provides a 15% MS boost if not moving towards enemies, which is substantial and provides Soraka new utility she never had before.

Then there's the fact that in lane Soraka now arguably has more of a presence than before without falling behind in her primary role. She can relentlessly poke, drop more Starcalls in a shorter time should an engage occur, and fish for a Starcall hit much more easily. I don't necessarily know if I would say she's OP, but she's strong - and arguably a lot stronger than she was prior to 6.5.

because with warmog's the health cost to your heal is no longer a penalty since the heal keeps going while you heal them so you just turn into a fountain pretty much. well actually that's the more minor reason. the main reason is because grievous wounds only affects self-heals, so even if someone has grievous wounds on them they still get the full soraka heal.

wait so you mean to tell me... that buyingitem 3033 has been a complete waste of gold against a soraka lol

She's as unfun and toxic as ever. People don't ban her based on her strength, people ban her based on how much they want to have fun this game.
