Riot, please, the new Poppy E+Q interaction...

Please just undo it. It's totally ruining how Poppy plays, and is actually a sizable nerf to her.

  • When clearing jungle camps, I'd normally charge the big mob and throw out my Q across the whole camp as soon as it hits the wall, doing damage to the entire camp. Now, I have to hold off on using my Q for a second, and then throw it. Not only does this feel awkward as hell, it actually slows down my clears.

  • When laning or ganking, I'd slam someone into a wall and throw Q in the direction they would run away, so that I hit both ticks. As it is now, my Q will just fire off dead center, and half the damage is wasted.

  • Like you showed in the spotlight video, you can E to a target other than what you're hitting, and then throw a Q at a nearby target -- well, that doesn't work anymore, since you have to wait after your E to throw the Q, you end up hitting the wrong target, or nothing at all.

But, Poppy just feels overall awkward to play now, since you can't even trust your own abilities to do what you want them to do. She still functions, sure, but she lost a lot of potential, and a lot of playability.

Why was that change even necessary? The only time I could even see someone missing their Q is if they have quick-cast on, have no eyes, and play with their feet. It's a very easy skillshot to land, but getting both ticks off requires a bit of finesse.

I don't know why I even bother. Not like you guys ever listen to what people say anyway. But, please, just revert a change that wasn't even necessary in the first place. You're taking the newest champion and gutting a large part of her kit, and for what?

The E/Q change from 6.1's not functioning well and we'll be making some major changes to it in the next patch. After those the Q should only auto target the unit you E'd if you haven't moved your mouse significantly after casting E. If you're moving your mouse to cast on a different spot by contrast it should behave as per previous 5.24.

So, since I don't use quick-cast, this will basically just make it work like it did before this change then? If so, thank you for listening to the small Poppy community. ^^

Why did you do this change in the first place anyway? I've never heard of people having trouble landing her Q -- but maybe if they're using quick-cast and don't bother aiming their mouse, it could be an issue.

That sounds like you're making the feature even more awkward. If a player wants to fire q straight ahead and use the feature, but they go to move the camera since they can just trust the ability, it will then fire towards the mouse. If the player wants the Q to go towards their mouse and the mouse happens to be in the right spot (say they charge past someone and want to fire the q backwards) then it will fire straight ahead unless they jiggle the mouse for no reason.

I feel the best choice would be to just make it fire towards the mouse always and let players learn to use it properly.

Why does everyone think this was an accident? Anyone at Riot who played Poppy at all, and tested this change, knew it was an outright nerf. Every Poppy player who tries it knows it's a nerf. Just wish they would be honest about their balance changes.

I know it wasn't an accident, but I don't think they intended it to be an outright nerf -- though, it wouldn't surprise me. But Poppy just isn't as fun when I'm not in control of my own kit. If they need to nerf her, just hit the numbers, and leave her kit alone. She's just not as enjoyable when I can't pull off half the stuff I used to be able to.

I was actually really salty about that when I played her in my ranked account. The auto aim Q is outright wasting half it's damage.

Ikr, you've got champs that need to line up spells in a very short time frame, and then you have Poppy who will hit her Q in the wrong spot, and you need to delay its cast by like 1.5 seconds.
