pls make garen early game better

he loses to many he should win or shut down early a bit like renekton /jax/riven he was a bully and i liked him even more before the icons update he had even more of all ,except base dmg he had:

higher hp higher silence ( 1.5 now, was 2.5) ,higher movement speed( Q movement speed and his own base movements speedd) tenacity on active W 20% of armor and magic resists first ,then made to affect only bonus ,now you have to farm it ,and there are maps like ascension and nexus siege where u cant stack minions for W his E actually dealt dmg early game not 30 dmg early and 1k late( he is not khazix to have to isolate his enemy to deal 33% more E dmg)

make his E deal more dmg early ,or passive heal criticaly at/under certain % hp ,because early game is pathetic ,everything is way too worse and lower passive cd ,because 9 s ,means its always off early game no way to tradde ,no way to hold on. and i find it rather absurd how after MS nerfs ,i cant reach no one. swiftness nerfs also, i dont have 10 quints free to place 1.5% ms.

Riven, yes. Renekton, I'd say it's a skill match-up. Jax, I'd say it's slightly in favor of Jax pre-6, and you can do nothing once he has 6 and Triforce or Guinsoo.

Not true...Garen still beats Jax if you actually LANE and not just walk up to him and trade till one of you dies.

You can lane pre-6, but you can't kill him unless he's stupid, and you can't really prevent him from farming that much. Post-6, especially once he got his first big item, he has both better burst in short trades with the passive from ult and better sustained damage than Garen. As Garen, you can probably farm relatively safely until team-fight starts, but you can't shut him down, and he's probably more useful than you once team-fights start too.

You are trolling or play at a horrible elo.

Garen easily wins lane vs Jax. I play both of them alot...Jax has 0 sustain and can only farm in melee range which means you can harrass him easily. Just take short trades and disengage. He will run out of health and mana while you just regen everything. At level 6 he cant even fight you toe to toe cause your ult kills him.

Well, I play at the same ELO as this account you're commenting on. And I'm a Garen main. I can't see any Garen and only 2 Jax games in your history. The only top laner I see played regularly is Darius, plus a few other champs that can both Jungle and Top, but mostly Jungle.

Consider me skeptical.

My bad, I fumbled and looked up another person entirely.

I'm suddenly much less skeptical. I guess I must be doing something wrong when I'm facing Jax, then, but this is definitely not as straightforward a match-up for me as you make it sound. I manage to vaguely zone him out of farm until 6, and then post-6, I just get dumpstered if I try to fight, and barely manage to farm myself if I play defensively.

Look..I have played the matchup quite often from both sides and if you make use of your advatages as Garen you will win the lane rather easily. Go for short trades, if he dodges your Q just W and E away. Now his dodge is on a 16 sec cooldown and the next time he tries to cs you can give him your full combo and disengage. Even if he jump s back on you after that he just loses mana and hp without doing much dmg to you. After 6 he will charge his ult by hitting creeps twice and then jumping on you to chunk you for a pretty good amount of burst but if you press W fast enough you will win the trade.

No offense to you but maybe your general laning skills are not that good cause I do not see how Jax is a hard matchup for Garen at all. Maybe you have to play more aggressive?

That's interesting, but what you said about Jax dodge pre-6, it's also true about Garen shield post-6. I can shield the first jump with empower+R passive, but then my shield is on CD and he can do that again pretty soon. What should I do then?

not sure anymore. pre rework garen easily beat jax early on. but after the rework his spin deals less damage than auto attacking at the first few levels. they also significantly nerfed most of his base stats.

silence doesnt scale up to 2.5 seconds anymore either, which was the main factor why he beat riven in lane.

id say im ok if he was as weak early as he is, if he scaled appropriately into lategame for it. but nerfs to almost every bruiser item over the course of the season really crapped on his mid/lategame.

Garen is kinda weak right now but I feel it is probably because popular champions like Darius, Fiora, Irelia, Teemo and Gangplank are pretty bad matchups for him so he feels weaker than he actually is.

nah, those champions were in the meta a few month back too, and he was doing overall fine then.

i think its a bunch of factors like rylais built almost on every mage coupled with swifties nerfs, removal of boot enchantments, repeated nerfs to bruser items etc.

his early game wasnt really good since the rework anymore.

but now also his mid/lategame just feels bad.

Garen still counters all three of those champions.

Garen is still a strong laner, if not as much as he used to be. His problem is still that he is very bad against competent teams after laning phase. He's just a big wall of health that can theoretically kill squishies if he gets on them, but rarely does.

He's meant to be a carry, but unlike Darius he has basically no way to kill tanks in anything resembling a timely fashion unless the tank is the Villain.
