Could Riot look at Ban-rates and not only win rates?

Zed just hit a 66,44% banrate in Korean ranked Q... I don't know how many more indicators are needed for Riot to finally act and start balancing. Sona got gutted for nothing. In the meantime certain champions are so incredibly broken that they take away a banslot in order to have a fair and enjoyable match.

that's cause the good zed players are op as fuck. unfortunately, most players arent very good with zed, but people just dont seem to get that. Zed requires quite a bit of mechanical skill to use properly. Around 90 percent of all league players are not able to use him to a point where he's ban worthy. Unforutnately, most kids dont know how to deal with him either.

So don't balance around high skill?

balance around the majority. Also your're argument about using the banrates as a balancing tool is not really good imo. Win rates are a clear indicator that something was up (Warwick), however ban rates are very controversial. People see a certain champ that someone bans, and they hear about how op that champ is, and even though they dont know if they could deal with the champ or not, they ban him anyways. Also zed is just another generic ban. I mean, fizz has been banned in ranked for like forever in like every game. He is certainly not problematic, people just dont want to learn how to deal with him and they think he'll be op, so they juts ban him.

It's not my argument. I would say however that if high elo players are banning certain champs consistently something is probably awry with that champ.

Just because less players can abuse him doesn't make him less broken. If LoL was balanced around bronze (no offense) and worst-case scenarios they'ld have to nerf Garen since he has none.

A realistic (and regularly available) best case scanario leads to much better balancing.

In Zed's case that mean - you can Flash towards your enemy and place your shadow on his head, making your abilities basically undodgeable. This is regularly doable (often even without Flash) and leads to insane amounts of damage.

Opposed to that we have a best case scenario which is difficult to reach and basically never happens: Froggen's old Anivia plays come to my mind here. He would manage to place his walls in such a manner that his enemies couldn't but run into his whole combo by abusing the way wayfinding works upon clicking at terrain created by his wall. If have seen dozen of diamond players who continiously failed to pull it off.

This is a best case scenario which happens simply far to rarely to be relevant since it requires thousands of games of practise to be pulled of on regular bases.

  • Opposed to above Zed played which can be done regularly if your opponent simply steps a little bit to far towards you.
