I mean, garen has been a freelo champion for so long but since he's so easy to play and so many people are able to climb with him, he's fair and balanced. Never frustrating to fight. NOt some low risk - high reward champion with a skill ceiling as low as can be. Noooo.

The majority of this community is such bile. So full of actual shit. They don't really care about statistics or "unfun" champions. They just want there to be easy as hell champions for them to climb easily.

If that champion is too difficult to pilot, well its a broken champion because they can't work them. Damned if other people are going to get wins from being able to work their kit properly.

All comes down to a mystical word that boards have pulled straight from their rectum. A win-all argument word that is just tossed around for lack of a better argument: "UNFUN"

When really that word should be a sentence: "I CAN'T WORK THIS CHAMIPION so I don't like losing to them or the fact other people win on them."

Free elo at low elo maybe. Higher elo, first time he has been a viable pick.

The higher you get, the harder it is to climb with Garen because he stops being able to pubstomp against decent players.

It is actually really easy to, you can just apply another slow, or bait it out and walk away.

See, the thing that makes other champions with complicated kits hard to balance and bordering broken at times is because they have so many pieces, Garen on the other hand is incredibly simple and easy to know, he isn’t btw.

Unfun for who exactly, Low gold and below players who don’t know how to play the game? Why should their balance opinion mean anything, they don’t know how to play the game

riot doesnt balance the game around those divisions since the nuanced differences in champion strength are outshadowed by individual strategic and mechanical mistakes.

if you nerf garen, then another 54% or higher winrate champion will take his place in bronze, silver and gold.

you physically can not balance the game in lower divisions and still have it balanced at higher divisions, because theyre effectively playing a different game.

Nothing to do with his kit, everything to do with the Top lane Meta. Also, Junglers don't really want to gank him because he can run away fairly easily and even doing damage to him is pointless cuz his passive. You either kill him or you don't bother ganking Top lane. So if no one is ganking Garen, he generally just walks over his opponent. It isn't just Garen though, generally Junglers don't bother going Top much if at all lately so yea, champs like Garen are now viable.

However pick ranged against him and there isn't much he can do without Flashing. When ADC's were the top lane meta, he was nowhere to be seen. Generally when I play Garen, I don't have to do anything... my enemy laner just runs at me or tries to fight me in my E. They stay near me when they have 15-20% HP and then complain when I ult them... Idk i think people just need a reminder that Garen isn't garbage.

As for kiting him, most people complain about his Q removing slows, yet seem to always forget about that in-game. His Q does have a cool down btw and if he uses it to run at you, he can't use it to remove your slows... so its not impossible to kite him, just don't smash your face into your keyboard then complain when it doesn't work.

Also try picking Renekton, Kled, Quinn, Kennen, even Rumble or anyone who isn't super squishy and close ranged. Don't pick someone like Riven into him or anyone who relies heavily on landing close-ranged ABILITIES, pick someone who relies on AUTO-ATTACKS or at least has reliable long ranged abilities.
