I hope that this new mage champion is not designed by CertainlyT...

What, you don't want the new champ to dash on half it's abilities and break the game with the other half?

Has he ever created a well balanced fun to play against champion?
Yes, literally all of them.
If it crashes the game it's technically 50% balanced in all elos.
It's physically not possible because this project was running concurrently with Akali, which he led. The span of time beyond Akali's release to the PBE and the upcoming release of the new champion sometime this winter is not a full production cycle.
Unpopular opinion: CT is far from the worst designer in League.
Note that the guy who made

At least CertainlyT's champions are interactive and have counterplay, and you can actually do poorly on them without them being absolutely terrible stat-wise.

Are you legitimately comparing a lump of champions who were released in like the first year of League to champions who are actively being released today? Like, no kidding, old champions have poorly designed and bad kits - they were designed back when League was barely out of diapers and the designers were just cranking stuff out that seemed fun. As time has gone on, they've learned and understood how to design within the confines of their game to make kits that don't destroy everything in sight, so naturally, newer kits are supposed to be more refined than older kits. However, CertainlyT has a painfully bad habit of designing kits like they did in the old days, except with a million more overloaded baubles attached, which results in poorly designed kits in a modern era where they're supposed to be avoiding the rookie mistakes of their pasts.
Sona has been updated twice and still has a shit kit, though.
Sona has been updated twice and still has a shit kit, though.
How was Sona updated twice? The only substantial overhaul to her I recall was in 2014, where they swapped her auras from being permanent to timed. And I don't think her kit is shitty at all, I think it's got a lot more finesse than people give it credit for.
Simple: Her mini-rework was so garbage you didn't know she got a mini-rework. She was updated twice and her kit is fucking terrible.

You still didn't say the second time she was updated. Did you refer to the minor addition of the CDR for basic spells on her R? Cause if you are, I don't consider that a rework, since it didn't do anything substantial to her play style. Again, her kit is not terrible. It takes nuance to learn, because to be effective, you've got to weave autos in to trigger your Power Chords - you won't do as well if you're just spamming spells.
Yes. I'm saying champions that are incredibly unhealthy that have had 8 years to be reworked into something that's not a complete piece of shit are far worse than champions that have counterplay and that can actually fuck up.
CertainlyT's champions, with a couple of exceptions (Kalista and Mordekaiser, for his creation and rework) all have legitimate counterplay when they're not blatantly too strong. They have room for the player to fuck up in.
Cho'gath? How do you fuck up as Cho'gath? Misclick your R? Cho also has basically zero counterplay in melee range that doesn't involve simply having twice as much health as his R has damage. Point and click near-instant AoE silence, point and click %health AoE with a slow, point and click nuke that makes Viegar jealous, and a knockup that's borderline impossible to miss.
Fiddle is only slightly easier to fuck up on due to being squishy, but has just as little counterplay to melees and mages. He has a point and click fear, point and click drain, point and click multi-target silence that has the best bounce targeting to date, and a point and click massive AoE high damage ult that isn't stopped on using Zhonya's.
Trynd is Trynd. I'm not going to elaborate on him because there's no reason to point out his manaless and almost conditionless healing, his endless spins, how he RNG wins lane, or his fucking ult.
Shaco doesn't need to be elaborated on except to the most delusional of Shaco mains, since everybody knows that the only real skill to him is in planning, not in actual execution.
Sona has been almost gutted because of her poke and healing. I have mastery fucking 6 on Sona and even I realize her level 1 half-healthing wasn't healthy.
This guy made so many unhealthy champions. And then you compare it to CT's, where basically everything can be dodged or prevented from hitting you. He's even fucking released dodgeable autos three times now, for fuck's sake! (For reference: Kalista's autos can be dodged by dropping vision, Yasuo's Qs are basically the only autos he uses against champions, and Graves's autos can be blocked by minions, monsters, other allies, or structures). His champions usually have an annoying mechanic or two, sure, but that's nothing new. Almost every champion in the game has some annoying mechanic.

The thing is, you are comparing something made in the past against the standards of today, and thus trying to discredit people for calling CT's designs bad because of these other bad designs. That's like comparing your grade school art on the fridge to a still life tree painting you did with oils on canvas in college - of course the work in the past is bad, it had no space to know otherwise. It's a broken comparison when you compare things like that, because it's a false equivalency.
You absolutely HAVE to compare apples to apples, in the present, using the same standards. Fiddlesticks, Shaco, and Tryndamere were not designed in the present, with the present design goals in mind. They are not comparable to anyone designed within the past 4 years in the slightest. To have a fair comparison of CertianlyT's work, let's compare him to his contemporaries - new Taric, Taliyah, Aurelion Sol, new Yorick, Kled, Camille, new Irelia, new Swain, Rakan, Xayah, Pyke, Kai'Sa, new Nunu, and so forth. Compared to a lot of these designs, CertainlyT's work is absolutely bad, and has contributed significantly to game health issues and player frustration. Sure, new irelia and Camille and Kai'Sa are pains in the ass - however, a lot of their problems can be addressed by simple numbers tuning. Someone like Kalista though? If you knock her damage, she's still got shitloads of utility. If you knock her utility, she's got infinite mobility and can't be caught by melee characters who can't snare her. Zoe? She's got RNG that grants her additional summoner spells, and a single spell in her kit that results in what equates to a stun with a HUGE damage increase for anyone who hits them. On top of that, if you miss, it's now a ground based trap, so anyone can now step in it. Oh, and her Q can chunk you for massive blows, so good luck if you're asleep. Akali? She's got insane burst past a certain point, and this is compounded by the fact that turrets can't actually do shit to her if she's in her shroud murdering you. So sure, most champions have annoying mechanics, but the vast majority of them don't compound those mechanics with a host of other annoying mechanics, and most other champions have massive weaknesses that aren't designed to evaporate as your skill increases. So compared to a lot of modern designs, CertainlyT's champs might be fun to play, but they're frustrating as fuck to play against, and their kits are designed in such a way that there's way to many functions to them. His designs are bad plain and simple, and in a time where Riot's team shouldn't be stepping in shit holes like "invisible to turrets stealth," when they've had many years of understanding what works and doesn't work with stealth, CertainlyT is here throwing that shit into kits.
Ah yes, clearly Cho'gath, Shaco, Sona, and Fiddle for all seasons they existed are pickban while flooding silver 5 and gold 5 with their mainers who genuinely don't now how to play ranked at all to the point of deteriorating the enjoyment of the queue.

How about not comparing apples to someone that could literally be looking at themselves in the mirror naked thinking how to make league players hate the game more and putting it into a new champion.

I'll say thats definately an unpopular opinion. Considering that only one of those champions (
) is really considered to be or problematic. The other 4 characters are far from being problematic and are significantly more interactive and have counterplay.

What's the counterplay to Tryndamere landing more than one critical strike in a level 1/2 trade, exactly?
For reference, Tryndamere has some of the highest base stats in the game on top of getting free crit chance.

Don't try to duke it out toe to toe with a champion who autoattacks people to death before you have anything resembling a build or having your abilities unlocked?
I hope its exactly that so I have a fun champ again if Riot funks up Zoe hehe xd
I hope every champion in the future is made by CertainlyT. I love seeing silvers cry
I really wish people would stop with the blind CT hate. Honestly, its rather disgusting.
You people are blaming the chef for the line ducking up; CT makes fun champions, but it isnt up to him to balance them. Its up to the balance team to balance them, and they dont. The BALANCE TEAM purposefully keeps fun, flashy champions (the kind CT excels at) in an overtuned state. It isnt CT and his concepts that are inherently broken, its the balance team making them broken.

Its not that the champs are fun to play, but some are just horrible to play against. Yasuo for some reason gets a Shield on his ult and when ultlng a champ under tower it will take him out of tower range which is just dumb. Akali - no need for True Stealth that was a dumb mechanic no one wanted in the game. I was hoping they would replace her shroud ability with her rework, but it is the only thing that stayed..... Graves - is just out of control and terrible to balance Zoe - just too much stuff in 1 champion. free summoner spells were another terrible thing to put into this game. Darius - all Melee champions worst nightmare..... at least he has no escape though Zyra - I am not a fan of this champ but not terrible.

Yasuo doesnt have a shield on his ult, i think? He has a passive shield. Akali's 'true stealth' isnt a problem either, dont fight her in her zone and shes an average champion with a very high skill ceiling. Graves has existed in his current form long enough that its no longer a "concept is to strong" problem, but a "the balance team has made him to strong" problem. Zoe is eh. She really is overloaded, but to me it looks like her abilities were meant to be good individually and not as a kit. Knowing what we do about the balance team, that reeks of their influence. Darius was pretty balanced before the balance team buffed him. Zyra too is pretty balanced after her plant nerfs.
I might be to forgiving, but CT pushes out good work unlike other rioters like Stashuu and Lyte who have left pockmarks on the game and have some very bad legacies.
People should not be blaming the chef for what the line fails to do. If you were buying a car at a dealership and the salesman was known for selling used cars as new or replacing the expensive parts with cheap ones so you have to come back in to get it fixed, you wouldnt blame the engineer who made the car would you?
yes his passive shield is automatically filled did not address the taking automatically out of tower aggro though guessing you agree that is BS as well. I am tired of hearing don't fight in her zone, walking away is not counter play especially if its such a large zone like her shroud. walking away is non-interactive which is something riot says they dislike, his is the same problem with Illaoi and I despise this champ. Akali is not broken IMO i really think they should shift power to her kit from her shroud and she would be a much more healthy champion . The ability can be defensive, offensive, stall time, and givers her Energy instead (when her Q takes so much energy to cast) of taking it which means as long as its off CD she can always cast it. there is no Negative to this ability going out except CD that is it. Zoe was too much WAY too much in basic abilities since her "ult" isn't really an Ult. Darius has clear weaknesses I just said a Melee champs nightmare I think his W is a big prob, because at level 1 I feel like I walked into a thresh ult when it hits me.
Zyra is fine except against melee champs. the slow is just terible and you cannot clear the plants away without taking aggro. Against ranged champs she is not a huge issue, but Melee champs she feels unfair as the plants just slow and destroy you especially with Liandries.
As for the Chef Analogy if the Chef just shoves a bunch of ingredients into the 3 out of the 4 course meal (zoe) then its gonna be a horrible dinner experience overall. Also if he just dumps a bunch of salt into 1 course of the 4 course meal (akali Shroud) you have a decent meal but you will not forget the salty surprise you just received. He made the "recipes" for a lot of these champions which he decided to put way too much in a few abilities or the whole kit. Yasuo has is a resourceless champion 2 passives (1 which makes him very crit efficient), CC knock up, an ability that can block all ranged abilities even ultimates, infinite dashes on his E, his ultimate not only does damage and blink him to the tartget but, can be activated on easier knock ups (malphite, Orianna, and so on), fills his passive shield, provided bonus armor penn, and takes him out of turret aggro range.
He has a history of making abilities overloaded and thus a mess to balance.
