So, how in the fuck do you beat Jayce anymore?

Niyumi··27 votes·6,677 views

After Riot in all their genius buffed him into retardation... how in the fuck can you even beat him anymore? He does more damage than a fed assassin and doesn't run out of mana anymore, can stack armor pen making tanks worthless, and can disengage whenever he needs to. I just don't see how you can beat him anymore.

Honestly?

If he's any good?

Right now?

You don't.

So just play Poppy and outscale that hyperscaler with your own hyperscaler that hyperscales on defense so hard that eventually even Jayce can't kill her. Concede the early game, stall, take the late game.

I mean, I'm thinking that's the only way I can do anything. Just play a super passive laner and farm as well as I can while losing lane, and just hope my team doesn't feed him. Roam if I can, get kills elsewhere and snowball other lanes, and just let him sit top. Especially if he takes ignite.

Yes.

You do this. And beg your jungler for some help while always leaving the lane in good shape to be ganked by him and hope him coming once or twice forces the Jayce to stop playing so far up which will then allow you to freeze the lane outside of turret range and farm some what safely.

There's really nothing that can even touch Jayce in lane at the moment. It's not even a contest. He's just stomping on everything. But Jayce is a seige champ, isn't naturally all that tanky, and brings only limited CC and utility. His weakness lies in that he can only effectively execute one single style of strategy and is not an ideal team fight champ. A Jayce that is kept from snowballing early and that is forced to fight team fights on your terms is a Jayce that is in trouble.

The problem is that all the solutions to Jayce at the moment (in terms of counterplay) are all strategic in nature. This is a champion that, as he currently exists, has zero form of tactical counter play. So don't even bother trying.

Edit: Oh, I actually thought of one champ Jayce does have issues with. Ryze. Ryze out wave clears him and has slightly longer all in engage range so if you properly position as Ryze and perfectly use your combos to harass and farm then you can beat Jayce as Ryze because the standard optimal Ryze build is a direct counter to standard optimal Jayce builds.

Haha, thanks for the detailed post. :P

I didn't know Ryze gave him trouble though, I'll have to try him next time I'm picking into a Jayce.

He doesn't have an ult, so champions with strong lvl 6 power spikes can definitely kill the Jayce if they survive until then. Pretty much the same as Pantheon; Jayce is simply more popular.

play rengar. you dont beat broken by being better, you beat broken with more broken. but no seriously he is a little strong right now but he isnt that bad. .. Alth the people I am stuck with right now can barely play the game so what do i know.

Hi lm Negan3 votes

Poppy is even more broken but the boards seem to hate Jayce more lol.

Don't feed him, avoid poke, wait till he falls off, call for ganks.

Every jgl can easily punish him by punishing his hyper aggressiv play style where he is always pushing. He's like pantheon, less strong early, stronger mid game, useless late game. Sacrifice cs, don't feed. Play something that can farm from range and don't feed.

i thinks its because hard to kill and moderate damage at melee range only is less frustrating than easier to kill with high damage at variable range, its not so much who's more busted but rather who's more annoying.

Pantheon goes even in lane with him and has a global ulti to preassure without needing to get TP so you cna get IGN or EXH to further punish the lane. And i can beat him with Rengar personally but i'm a good Rengar tbh so i dont advice is unless you are a main .

Bait his poke and poke him back.

Play a hard pusher, force him to use his poke combo on minions, poke him when he uses it.

When he walks into fog / out of sight expect a EQ combo, so be ready to sidestep it. It's not that hard to dodge if you're expecting it.

You build armor and stick to him. He has a lot of poke and disengage. But once he uses that he doesn't have much. Don't get discouraged, play like a bronze and charge at him till he's dead. If he's dead, cs a bit or something.

hes got a knockback lol good luck sticking and chasing him through his gate

Legit just permaban the bastard right now.

I mean, if I'm top, yeah. Usually I ban Hecarim, since he's more commonly picked and much more annoying imo. >.>

Play a champ that can outscale and safely farm into him.

Trundle sounds like a good counter. If you play smart, you won't really win, but you wont lose either since you're healing off all the dying minions. Once you hit 6 you can just steal his stats and pound him into the ground. Poppy will work just as well as someone else mentioned in the comments.

He does run out of mana but you need to know when to pressure him. Jayce gets his mana back when in melee form and he auto attacks. From what I have learned the best chance to play against him is to build some sustain and armor and wait for him to go melee mode before harassing him. if he hammers you away don't chase guard the minions and prevent him from getting mana back. If you stay behind minions you don't have to worry about his poke in the early laning. He will run out of mana pretty quick if you do this often forcing him to consider some mana items which allows you to still pressure lane with some more offensive itemization.

How could you forget to mention his insane range/damage Q poke? Seriously, that thing is probably one of the most cancerous moves in the game. The fact it's not an ult and still takes half of a squishes health whilst jayce being outside the vision is absurd. People complaining about towers doing no damage and some champs too save too dive under towers, but with this guy you don't even want to be near the tower even if there are no enemy creeps under it. In lane he is darn right oppressive. He falls off late game but well the last time i saw a late game was .... i can't remember. Poppy is more broken in her own way, while i think jayce is much more frustrating to play against.

You don't and have to wait until the nerfs. I'm expecting 5 AD off of his Q? ;D
