Holy Nasus Buff

FalconPawwwwnch··11 votes·2,083 views

Nasus Fury of the Sands (R) - several changes: [new effect] Now grants 20/40/60 armor and MR on use [new effect] Now gains 1/2/3 Armor/MR for duration of effect [removed] (no longer increases armor/mr based on damage done to enemies. on live, this is bonus AD)

So he gets

20-35 armor and mr at level 6 40-70 armor and mr at level 11 60-105 armor and mr at level 16

on his ult

Guess who I'm maining next patch if this goes live

not entirely sure its a buff. he loses the ad bonus for it.

it was up to 300 additional ad he gained from his ult, which affects regular auto attacks and his q. meaning he loses up to 600 damage on a auto attack + q aa reset.

he gains a ton of resistances of which half will be negated by penetration, and loses a lot of damage.

im waiting how this plays out before calling it a buff.

Realistically you never get close to 300 damage, and if you do you've probably killed them before you even get to use it.

realistically you probably wont ever get close to the resistance cap either.

its not the mechanic thats changed, just the stats he gets from it.

edit.: never mind. i was still working on the assumption how the previous iteraton on the pbe worked. just saw that the mechanic has changed.

No, they changed it based on proximity to accumulating over time.

They sited this, since they felt it had the same issues as the current AD version; extremely misleading and hard-to-account for power.

That's why the bonus armor/mr build-up is so small.

All the damage in the world doesn't mean shit if he dies before he can hit anyone. Yeah it's not a buff, but a readjustment of the power of his ultimate. They traded out the bonus offensive power for more defensive power.

Plus this change helps against %hp damage users where using his ult would have worked against him.

WoonStruck2 votes

His ult never worked against him when facing %HP damage. If you gain 300 HP, someone that does 8% max HP in damage is still only dealing 8% of that bonus HP in damage. You still get 92% of that, which would be 276 HP. No matter what that's better than getting 0 HP.

It still helps a lot. It just helps slightly less against %HP damage. More HP never truly works against you.

This is a buff. The bonus AD didn't scale too high unless the opponents were just sitting next to you and anyone who was competent would be kiting you.

Don't forget that his ult grants additional health, plus now the flat and stacking resistances. This raises his "effective health" significantly while he ults and will help him surviving in fight.

Flat penetration items will now be "weaker" against him because they will now have to go through the additional armor. If he keeps his same build, he will be able to survive longer in any fight even against the flat pen builds.

ya maybe I can actually teamfight now

thats not really a buff in my book.

ad much better. he already goes tank. gonna be inefficient as hell.

WoonStruck4 votes

It means he can function in this insanely high damage environment while building like an actual juggernaut, which might be scarier than you think.

He won't have to load up on as much extra armor to survive armor pen builds kiting him.

It also means he won't just be getting bursted to 1/2 HP by just the mid-laner before he can touch the carries.

It means he might actually be usable because he has a chance to survive ganks that attempt to stop him from stacking.

The AD didn't do much unless you were facing bad players. You rarely got to be in range of enough people for long enough to make the AD significant enough to matter.

MunchCrunchLunch2 votes

gonna be like jax ult. does nothing really.

at least his ult gonna give him hp.

WoonStruck2 votes

Jax ult did a lot when he got HP from building AD/AP.

Guess what stat Nasus also gets from his ult.

Either way, the armor/mr granted will do much, much more than the AD, even if it doesn't end up helping him much. Its definitely a welcome change.

MunchCrunchLunch2 votes

maybe last season. this season it doesnt really matter.

i even skipped black cleaver on darius yesterday. no void staff. or armor pen on enemy team and can't even tank 4 seconds. got dove under turret lol

WoonStruck2 votes

Don't forget that they're effectively removing flat armor pen as we know it with the preseason changes or assassin update. Significant changes are confirmed, including Maw losing pen and ghostblade losing attackspeed completely.

Not only that, but damage masteries might (probably not) be getting toned down, and the resolve tree will very likely get buffed (hopefully; everyone wants it).

I think Nasus is going to have a good time in season 7, but it depends on the rest of the armor pen changes and what Riot decides to do with preseason. We'll see.

Also, depends on how Gnar, Jayce, and Vlad turn out in the top lane meta.

Maybe if you weren't hard feeding you would have lasted longer?

Oh, and Lee Sin and Yasuo had armour pen.

It is a straight buff. The bonus AD rarely scaled very high against any competent player. Good players typically would avoid getting that close to him. Most of the time it would get to 50-60 ish in a fight before the ult was up. It was best for objectives and typically any fight where it scaled really high it probably meant he was going to win the fight without it.

It may hurt his early dueling but it helps with his survivability in any teamfight or in a 2v1 split scenario. After doing a few tests on the scaling AD I think people's perception of how quickly it scales and how effective it actually was is off.

It sucks if he loses the bonus AD.

Nope. I did a couple tests the other day on the scaling AD and for the most part the additional AD never scaled that high unless you were doing an objective or you were dueling and the opponent SAT right next to you. Most of the time they don't do that.

This is a buff and it will greatly impact his ability to stay a live while being kited.

79012020DEL11 votes

Then why just dont keep the bonus AD along these new changes. Nasus will still get kited like hell anyways, plus armor pen will deal with his ultimate armor buffs.

I think the bonus AD would be nice to keep, but Riot probably wouldn't just make the ultimate a lot better. They would probably be too worried at that point about balance and whether Nasus would start building more damage with the additional resistance and the bonus AD>

I think the flat armor pen builds wouldn't matter too much by the second point into the ultimate (40 additional armor). Besides if he is building full tank still (which he probably will) that additional armor would mitigate the flat shreds. Even now I don't think the penetration builds affect Nasus too much if he keeps stacking armor, kiting is more the issue. The additional armor and mr will make him more challenging to kill so that he can deal more Qs before he would get the AD, but not be deal much damage unless opponents were sitting next to him.

so it's just a flat armor gain for every second he's ulted?

that's kinda disappointing; I was hoping it was flat armor/MR gain for every tick he gets on someone per second. Woulda been way higher stat values lol

They don't realize they are making ad nasus seem more appealing by giving him all the tankiness he needs in his ult, so things like item 3812 item 3072 and item 3139 become better options as he doesn't need to build as much tankiness to be tanky.

He will probably still build one or two damage items and full tank. He is still really kiteable.

Golden Tager X1 votes

Here's the thing, there are alot of damage items that will make him harder to kite, he gets almost all the tankiness he needs from his ult, so it is more likely 3 damage and item 3083 item 3026

He almost never builds warmogs and probably still won't. Warmogs has never been a great item for him. He will probably simply build item 3078 or item 3025 and item 3053 or item 3156 a bit more often. He might also build one of the hydras. Since the changes to steraks and maw he builds each item less often.

He may build item 3139 more often with the change as well but that's just for the QSS.
