Can't wait to see all the diversity in the LCS this year

Kikirino··50 votes·2,668 views

Riot has done a great job with balancing this year. I mean, Jungle has three whole consistent champions to pick from right now. JarvanIV LeeSin RekSai. Surely that won't get old to watch the pros play. Same with adcs. We will see the same top picks as last year. Would love to see Varus or maybe even Quinn sometime without the casters laughing at the champion hover. Way to mock your own imbalance. I would be happy with no more skins and champions for a while if it meant we got to see more champions played. I am sick and tired of seeing JarvanIV in all of my matches. What makes you think I would want to watch him in the LCS?

I watch a bunch of League pro streamers and you know you fucked up when they all openly say they are bored with League right now. If your pros are bored how the hell do you expect your audience to be entertained?

Truth, If everyone just stopped watching the LCS, maybe Riot would finally start to care about what matters

Depends. I think the game should be balanced around high end play, but ignoring gameplay features to promote esports is bullshit.

I enjoy watching high level players. I don't care about the money or the teams. It is just fun to see the best players making plays and stuff.

"OH SHIT Lee Sin landed the Q an- HE JUST PRESSED R DOUBLE KILL!!!"

You can go on Youtube right now and see every single epic play from last year cus they're gonna be the same this year.

Never watched lcs, never will. Sounds like it's just LeeSin every game

That's an ignorant thing to say. He's banned every now and then.

This is the year my dear Cho'Gath will see competitive play... and then get brutally nerfed as punishment for it, how dare unconventional picks be viable

Wasn't Cho seen off and on in S3 jungle? Or am I thinking Nasus?

Orangesilk1 votes

He was a situational late s2 and early s3 jungler, however recent champs kits are overloaded with mobility and %health damage, so he fell out of favor really fast. The BotRK buff is a great example of how the meta is slowly phasing him out. We have yet to see Cho'Gath as a strong pick, even if he's been around since forever.

Warning: I may be bias here, cause I personally really really hate fighting Cho.

I really think that for Cho, and a handful of other champs, Riot needs to decide on a direction to take the champion and make changes accordingly. Right now Cho is stuck between AP burst, CC tank, and AA sustained damage. As long as he is that varied, it is hard to make him powerful at any one thing without making him generally OP.

(personally, I think lowering the AP scaling on QWR and buffing E scaling would be the way to go. Encouraging tanky-AP sustained damage over "I hit a rupture while my ult was up, so I got a kill.")

Orangesilk4 votes

No, I'd say cho'gath is one of the most well designed champions, he has very clear and powerful strengths (burst, sustained damage, AoE CC, innate tankiness) and very clear and specific weaknesses (mana hungry, slow and telegraphed skills, stacks health, clear moments of weakness after ulting a minion or missing a rupture, once he dies he reverse snowballs due to ult stacks). It just happens that the things that brutally counter cho'gath (mobility and %hp dmg) are now tacked on champions kits too easily, which makes him obsolete

I read somewhere that every champ got picked or banned at least once in the LCS last year, except Fiora. But that'll be ignored because it's too satisfying to complain about the same 10 champs every game.

Onegarion1 votes

well then you would have read wrong. There are still about 17 or so champs that havne't been played in a pro match.

junglerboy161 votes

and of the ones that were picked or banned, a good portion of them only saw 1-4 matches ever throughout the season, including troll bans and hard counter picks (like Poppy into Mundo).

Just Jangle3 votes

Oh boy LeeSin being a top pick in jungle for the 4 season in a row, i can't wait for that!

MattAkhavan2 votes

there have been a ton of champions that have been in and out of popularity and a way more than what you mentioned played in this new patch at the competitive level.

Solidair32 votes

Honestly, Riot has been moving in the right direction in terms of balance, though there is still a long way to go. They need to stop being so afraid of buffing things on older champs.

Varus is a good example, they slightly lowered the cd on his ult and pretty much left it at that. maybe a slight increase to his base stats would help, or something else.

WingsofGulgazor1 votes

I watch streamers as well and I don't think I've heard one ever say they were bored of the game... and it's been like that every year...Though with a different meta.

Kikirino3 votes

I mainly stick to TSM streamers and a few others. Most have said more than once that League is boring and in a bad spot right now.

While some positions won't change much, I think we might see Skarner, Malzahar, and maybe Mordekaiser played. Skarner is pretty viable now and Malzahar amd Mordekaiser counter the damage heavy Assassins since Morde can shield the damage and Malzahar can point and click to stop a wombo solo combo.

Kikirino1 votes

Malz is a bad champion in the pro scene. His ult roots him in place and puts him at huge risk against anyone that knows how to work as a team. Same reason that WW isn't played in Pros. He was strong but his ult locks him down as well. Any good team would destroy him.

Onegarion3 votes

You do know that WW/lee was the match up over in OGN for their preseason right?

DrCyanide3 votes

Was that 4.20 or 4.21? Because I'd be very surprised if it was WW in 4.21.

Cloud 9 in the IEM (I believe on 4.20) showed how bad picking WW could be, baiting the other team into picking him...

Onegarion1 votes

It was during his "OP" time so 4.20. WW actually had a losing record if my memory serves right.

What makes you think we'd see skarner? He got his one big game of lcs play, perfectly fair for him, but we couldn't go having him be a competitive pick now could we, so Riot made sure to hot fix that as quickly as they could.

acepil0t1 votes

They nerfed his lore too a while back. RIP Skarner

And I'll continue to laugh when pros won't insta-ban Zed like all the circle-jerking ret@rds in these forums. Average LoL player = "OMG NERF Zed PLS RITO, HE'S SO BROKEN!"

If he's so broken, how come no pros ever ban him?

MrSlowDie3 votes

I am pretty sure he got around 50% P/B rate in s4 world. with 25% P and 25% B

Junkο3 votes

To be fair Zilean and Alistar had a 100% P/B rate and nobody cares about them

To be fair Zilean and Alistar had a 100% P/B rate and nobody cares about them

That's because Alistair is a cc heavy champ that is the only tank that can't die atm and zilean and his utility are very useful. Reason why zed wasn't banned is because zed isn't the best at teamfights. And when plaYing in the lcs, people tend to group at ridiculously low levels which gets rid of zed advantage.

I'm almost positive that 1 auto from an alistar wouldn't change the op or not champion. He's cc heavy. Someone jumps on your adc, you headbutt them away, they flash back, you knock them up.

meatjunjun1 votes

That auto attack patch stopped him from being top tier in top lane. It wasn't aimed to nerf his support role. He's still a very good support.

TotalJerk1 votes

Getting 1 auto means a LOT when you build a melee champion with a focus on them. Combine the knockback with a sheen proc and it means Alistar basically got free trade wins during the laning phase.

1 auto means that you dont trade with him. People would use all sorts of champions and still tried to trade but the way to go against him was to out lane him and harass or call for jungler. There are alot of champions that you eitehr all in or stay away.

meatjunjun1 votes

So what you're saying is.... Zed's not OP because he not as good in teamfights?

Glad you see the light :)

meatjunjun1 votes

I'm not arguing that Zed isn't a VERY STRONG champ. I'm just saying that he's a very top tier champ but there are others that pros would rather not face. That's why I think he's ok.

He gets banned in 25/100 games, so out of the other 75 games where he's available, he's only picked 25 times. Sure 50% P/B is high, but that's still 50 other games where he could've gotten picked but was ignored.

DoraTheBrown1 votes

dey ban it against faker does dat count?

meatjunjun1 votes

Yes it does. See, pros only ban Zed when it's the player they fear. It's very similar to Yasuo getting banned for Dade or Syndra getting banned for Hai.

They're not banning because of the champ, they're banning because they don't want to deal with the player controlling the champ.

manbearswine1 votes

Well,it could be worse,we could look at support where you have an option to pick between 1)Thresh 2)Thresh 3)Thresh 4)Whatever poor guy dares to challenge thresh, always nerfs on pbe one patch after

i mean at least junglers shift a bit every year or so...

LeeSin I don't see what you mean. Can you explain this so i may visualize this?

funniest part is,just a couple of hours after my post nerfs go on pbe for sona and janna.

I mean, why would you nerf the most op support who has been god tier for so long? doing such a thing is too obvious, nobody would expect riot balance team to play favorites so hard he'd be left untouched, jokes on us I guess.

SexyTaylorSwift1 votes

At least you won't see Sona. You didn't before, and now she gots some more nerfs.

Same champs in every game? Better nerf Sona.

CoolKnightST1 votes

Don't get your hopes for Quinn but Graves Ezreal Caitlyn are coming back.

For toplane the pool will still be small with Gnar on the pick or ban. With Lissandra as contested pick.

Jungle pool seems a little bit bigger with JarvanIV Nunu LeeSin RekSai but overal it will still be kinda small if you ask me. The differents now is that their are some tier 1 pick that can be picked like XinZhao . For situational whe also have KarthusTwistedFate .

Midlane will be more difficult with the mage meta incoming. I fear it will have some limitations after the price increase on item 3165 .

Support will probaly contain a lot of Thresh Nami Morgana like always. Their planning a big nerf for Janna so the aggressive style will probaly hit the lcs again. However teams like C9 provided proof that situational picks like Soraka can work in the right situations.
