Can't even get 2 five people pre made teams. Rito pushed all my friends quit by deleting their champions.

If I remember correctly it may have had something to do with players recreating teams until they placed in gold for rewards or something similar to cut down on grinding since it's hard to get 5 people together regularly enough to do any real climbing. This also lead to a lot of complaints about new bronze teams getting matched against new diamond teams and the like since match making didn't account for any of your ranked history when evaluating team skill levels, a new team was treated like a new account (silver). I believe Clash was supposed to be the replacement for ranked teams but it ran into its own issues and its future is TBD.

Isn't that basically Clash?

If I recall correctly, there weren't enough people playing teams all at the same time for there to be fair and balanced matches. You'd get bronze teams against gold teams, etc. Teams also included a lot of disparity in rank within them which could lead to some messy match ups. I think it's why they went the way of Flex since the matches could be more evenly balanced in terms of skill. Despite how some people aren't big fans of flex, I feel like it is indeed more balanced generally.

Clash has(will? has there been a clash yet or is it still testing?) replace the ranked teams because it does require teams of at least five as far as I know.
