Irelia/Fiora/Rengar get buffed while being at 50%..

option paralysis··24 votes·9,159 views

Those champions are cancer to play against and they get buffed while being at 50% win rate with good playrates... But Wukong got his E nerfed, Q nerfed, runes nerfed, duskblade nerfed aaaaand he gets 8% AS buff which doesn't do almost anything. AND they dont want to rework him. Ah well, nothing new, disappointment from riot just like this whole year.

The difference was it wasn't wukong, but the itemization. Those three don't have that issue. No bias as ive played like 1 game of wukong in aram lul

Fiora has been at a 48% win rate at plat + for many several patches now, where are you getting your stats?

Fiora received a "buff" because she takes a while to come online in this early/mid game meta, so a tiny bit of help mid game isn't going to break her, hell it wont even help her that much. Its a tiny placebo buff, but i called it, the boards and probably reddit will start crying for nerfs to her now.

E is the second maxed ability, completely maxed at level 13. So from levels 2/3(depending on playstyle) to 12 its a little bit stronger, just a little. At rank 1 it will provide maybe 12? 13 extra damage, max and that increase % decreases towards what it is now with each rank. This buff wont even be noticeable and if Riot didn't put it in the patch notes, no one would be able to tell. It's not like the rank one is at 200% dmg(a standard crit). This is not anything.

Wukong got nerfed because his front loaded burst is just unfair. Its Wukong pressing his buttons from stealth and literally one shotting the adc(usually) without anything they can do in return.

Wukong was bullshit, true, but Fiora is a festering tumor that should never be allowed to be meta because she lacks literally any meaningful counterplay.

because she lacks literally any meaningful counterplay.

What the hell do you mean by counterplay here? It seems boards people have this idea of magical counterplay which would allow them to easily kill a fed champion.

Capn Of Capns1 votes

Her parry is bullshit because it looks like a skillshot but is actually just a spellshield. I've noticed recently as well (maybe it was in a patch I didn't read) that hitting her with anything stuns, not just crowd control. Also what is her movement speed? I built deadman's plate and boots of swiftness and she still ran me down. I'm tempted to play her just to learn why her kit is so strong but learning a new top champ is scary to me since if I feed while learning against a snowballer it'd be bad.

Weiner the Pooh1 votes

I've noticed recently as well (maybe it was in a patch I didn't read) that hitting her with anything stuns, not just crowd control.

You're entirely incorrect on this. Maybe you misunderstood what happened but that simply isn't the case.

Capn Of Capns1 votes

It's my understanding that hitting her with crowd control stuns you if she parries it while pointing the parry at you. Last time I checked, ignite is not crowd control. I hit her with ignite at the same moment she hit parry and I got stunned. She ran away. Not on fire, btw, because parry can block ignite as well. I'll allow that maybe I misunderstood what I saw or something else happened that I didn't catch, but I'm pretty confident in this. And I'm 100% dead sure she blocked the ignite, which is annoying as hell to me.

I actually just went and read it and now I'm calling double bullsh*. She stuns if she hits you with it after you hit her with a cc. She was too far to have hit me as ignite has a longer range than Riposte and while I haven't lab tested this I'm fairly sure she can stun more than one person despite what the ability says. I'm almost tempted to take her into a custom and start testing this stuff out, but she isn't played enough to bug test her.

Weiner the Pooh1 votes

She was too far to have hit me as ignite has a longer range than Riposte

Ignite has a 600 range and Riposte has a 750, so there was some misunderstanding there.

I'm fairly sure she can stun more than one person despite what the ability says

Also not true, ive played Fiora a lot, I'm 100% sure it only hits the first target, it hits all minions it passes through but stops and the first enemy champion hit.

She can block ignite, that is true, but it is 100% luck and more often a misplay by the ignite user, its not something that can be reliably done.

ankoanko191 votes

I'd rather play against Season 6 tank Fiora than whatever the fuck wukong was before his nerfs and I'm sure others would too. Talking about ''meaningful'' counterplay when Wukong literally E+Q+Elec killed you with just a fuckin duskblade and yoummus, and if that wasnt enough just R and youre guaranteed it anyway.

Alzon4 votes

I found Wukong to be utter trash anyway, since I’d always play Jarvan, Kench, or some other tank into him. If he’s not fed, he’s useless.

Fiora, on the other hand, can and will outscale everyone at just one item. Her “counterplay” has four points: denying her vitals, dodging her attack speed slow, buying Bramble Vest, and building enough DPS to beat out her auto resets and mini-crit. If you can do those things, she becomes a mediocre splitpusher for the rest of the game. The biggest problem is the last two points - you can’t build both Bramble Vest and damage when you have no gold due to dying or letting her freeze. On top of that, she’s just going to get her Hydra even faster.

In short - Wukong is and has always been very easily countered, and an intelligent player can counter a Fiora - it just takes a bit more effort. She’s literally designed to win 1v1s versus less-savvy players.

A significant portion of her power budget is in her passive, a passive that revolves around who between Fiora and her target has the better positioning/baiting/movement micro. Her Q is her initiate/chase, but also her only escape tool. Her W can be baited or forced, and is a SS. Her ult is her passive on steroids with a more complex win condition.

Where exactly are you seeing a lack of counterplay?

That is completely untrue. There are plenty of ways to counter Fiora, both in lane, in team fights and in the split push. For lane phase Fiora is very easy to abuse as her CDs are high early and her damage is low. It is easy to take favorable trades as both a melee and ranged.

In early game trades you either force a trade when she Q's you or a minion then kite backwards, especially if in a minion wave(easily done when Fiora goes for Q/vital pokes.) The main thing to do is to keep walking in a direction opposite the new vital, it doesn't have to be big steps at least on pace with her steps as that makes it much harder for her Q to reach it when it comes up again and as Fiora's DPS is low without her passive. When she has W you do a small trade with your less important or low cd spells and back off once she uses W, it doesn't matter if the trade seems a little favorable for her as you can then reengage with your spells up because parry has a massive CD(24 seconds, remember this is the last skill to be maxed). As ranged its even easier to take good trades.

In team fights Fiora has poor lockdown and is vulnerable if she tries to get on the back line, and her doing so is more dependent on her team then herself for this scenario. If she focuses the front line smart cc timings means she can be blown up very easily as she is a squishy character, building primarily AD.

Splitpushing is where Fiora really shines as its what she has in strength to make up for her poor team fight. Fiora is vulnerable to 2v1s especially if her opponents are even with her. As with all splitpushers, punishing the Fioras team 4v5 and taking objectives is an easy way to punish her. If the enemy team is ahead an AOE character simply clearing minions quickly under tower can hold her off. If you have to fight there is always simply standing next to a wall when she ults you then just dumping your kit on her while she tries to get her ult off.

Bully her before she gets her items, he has a stronger lane phase then her. Before Fiora gets her first two items Yorick beats her in 1v1s. Abuse that to get a lead. In split push, if you've already established your lead, you split and she'll have to defend from you at tower, Fiora can't lose lane then go to team fight, and if youre ahead shes not gonna out split you.

actually what you do is that you say they're strong in low elo and riot will nerf them out of being useful.

it worked for people who stood still in a pile of Yorick ghouls

I agree with what OP said in regards to the 3 champs who got slight buffs this patch, even if he forgot to mention Master Yi. None of these champs, especially Rengar needs any small tweaks in order to be relevant.

But OP then dives into the black hole of complaining how Wu got nerfed. Just let it go man. Wu's only play pattern for years has been an AD stacking assassin who frontloads everything in his kit to try an assassinate one person and then deal as much damage to the rest as possible with a 4.4 AD scaling ult. Not a healthy thing to face for anyone who isnt building at least two armor items.

LoveBubbleButts1 votes

I actually like fiora quite a bit. She was perfectly fine and the buffs wont really change much anways. What you are seeing is placebos from riot. They don't know what to do so they do nothing. Little do they know buffing yi rengar and fiora just makes everyone mad since those are the counterless champions of league.

Krully9 votes

hey now fiora has a strong late game so they gotta buff her early game its that simple

I like how you're talking winrate within literally an hour or two of the patch change. Not even enough time for 3 games to be won.

ankoanko191 votes

Yeah she has a strong lategame but to get there she has to fucking snowball. It's not easy scaling as a melee champion.

Killer of Night96 votes

I don't have problem with irelia buff. It just add some help to cs.

Sire Hippington1 votes

given her passive and the reset mechanic aswell as the heal, it's not just a help to CS but also a solid boost to her mobillity, sustain and how fast she stacks the passive in lane. Honestly, i think this change will have a rather big impact on high elo irelia, especially for midlane.

Suzuken2 votes

You can't passive stack in mid lane, unless the enemy jungler is braindead he will always be pathing near mid early levels (red->scuttle->blue-etc or opposite) and if Irelia passive stacks then she would be standing literally 2 inches near enemy turrent.

On the other hand in top lane it was really hard for her to passive stack because of how low the Rank 1 q dmg deals so it was a HUGE nerf for any player that can actually play Irelia.

Being denied from a major strength point wasn't cool. Now she has it back and it doesn't affect mid lane that much. It adds no burst (which was her main issue in mid lane, too much burst) but simply makes csing better with her.

No Irelia player wants to Q a minion with 50 health only to find out to your rank 1 Q doesn't even do that much damage and have your Q go on CD. That's just brutal.

Totalis2 votes

For a hot second I thought this post was gonna say something meaningful but then went into complaining about wukong being weak

Suzuken2 votes

Irelia needed that buff really hard. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

Her Q has a 5 base dmg rank 1 and that's absurd. Last hitting minions with it was nearly impossible to get right and therefore you won't be able to passive stack level 1...

Wu kong on the other hand is extreme cancer.

Sire Hippington1 votes

yea, i'm fine with most of the buffs in the upcomeing patch, but irelia and Rengar seem a bit off. I'm not 100% against small irelia buffs, but i think the Q vs minions is wrong. Her Q wasily oneshotting minions is what caused her to be so overbearing in midlane previously, it gives her yasuo levels of mobillity in lane aswell as easy acces to a fully stacked passive. I think irelia is alot healthier if she needs to prep minions befor she can get the resets, so she and her opponent can play around low health minions like it worked in the past. i'd rather see her W damagereduction buffed from 50%all ranks to 50-60%

On Rengar i thin it's somewhat ok. He's not directly in need of a buff, but don't forget that they also nerf both duskblade and stormrazor in that patch aswell, both very common pickups for rengar, so he'd be in a rather bad spot without any form of compensation. Though it wouldn't hurt him beeing somehwat bad for one patch while they acces how hard the indirect nerfs did hit him...

As for wukong, i think jungle wu might be in a fine spot with that. Lane wu is dead though, and the AS boost will hardly do anything for him.

Rıots Bad Client1 votes

I think the best thing to do for MonkeyKing Is pretty simple.

Q- Change the Ability to a skill shot. (more points the longer the ability) Nerf the damage more.

W- While the Clone is Out, he copies All His Abilities Increase this Cooldown. and Increase the Clones life span by 1.5sec (total of 3 seconds?)

Clone Can Copy Q, E and R (but does only %40-%45-%50-%55-%60 of the damage.)

thats about it.

I think this fixes his damage out put, so He no longer can one shot reliably. Can Clear Jungles easier. And keeps it true to his theme.

Capn Of Capns1 votes

They experimented with the clone doing this but it was too difficult to utilize. Imagine it like Ekko's ghost, but you have to plan for the clone to mimic your abilities as well. I wouldn't mind a change to the clone or the Q becoming a skillshot where Wu extends his staff and slaps the ground in a line, but the clone would have to be an ability. It'd be pretty cool to see something line a cone shot where clones of wu appear and slap people.
