Who do you even play against Darius/Poppy ?

Top lane meta is disgusting, thankfully I switched to support this season. I think I would become more toxic than ever if I had to play against a fucking darius and poppy every game. I don't even understand why can darius deal upwards to 1000 true dmg but you know, it feels good, amirite. I just had a top laner that rage quitted after being dunked by a darius in lane and I can't even be mad at him, just watching darius tilts me, let alone laning against him. And poppy is just poppy, fuck her.

Jayce actually dumpsters darius. I just ban poppy every game. If I do have to play against her I unbench the kench.

Illaoi also dumpsters darius if played right. Just be passive pre level 3 and then it's all on you to land your e until you can insta pop him with ult

I found a build used by one of the top illaoi's and I love him for it. Full scaling AD marks/quints with a full AD build (cleaver, bloodthirster, death dance, ravenous hydra, BF sword, executioners (vs heaalers). The E does so much dmg late game (I can chunk people from full health down to 4 bars with one E)

Death dance helps you survive so much more easily (due to the physical spell healing it offers and burst to dot transition) and it's mainly to get as much AD as possible without overlapping passives (I miss old bloodthirster XD) If you eva wanna give it a go, tis item 3071 >> item 3812 >> item 1038 >> (If you can't finish item 3072 , buy another ) >> item 3074 // item 3036 // item 3033 (final 2 are situational, generally finish hydra 1st for dmg) >> boots when ever you want them (generally item 3111 )

Play passive till you can inflict ur E then eat them <3

Def= item 3156 or item 3053 Elixir= item 2140

The Riven vs. Darius matchup is a touchy one as well (similar to GP) and I would recommend learning Riven pretty extensively. A good Riven trashes a Darius any day, but without understanding the matchup and being fluent with her, Darius can grab a lead and roll over her for the rest of lane phase

Fiora definitely outscales Darius but she actually loses lane against him pretty hard. Parrying his pull reliably is much harder to do than people assume.

P.S.: Almost 500k mastery Fiora player.

i played against a fiora that was able to parry my pull, god i hated her

but that's not the worst thing, the worst thing is you can't harass her with Q because shecan dodge it for no mana

when i listed the champ above i didn't say they all destroy darius, they all at least survive against him

From what I heard from a Diamond Riven main, Darius just needs to be decent to beat Riven.

I best guess is that he would try to Q Riven to regen and try to extend the trade. That is what you have to try to do anyway to try to beat Riven. Maybe engage first? Darius does basically get a free Q when he pulls someone in and can try to W whichs slows.

Illaoi Don't know why people don't use this champ into those two, she is the literal answer to both of them. Their play patterns put them in an extreme amount of danger to her combo which they have no escape other than flash from.

She's very immobile, making it real easy for Darius to land all of his combo on her.

Her Q is slow & ez to sidestep, and her E is sometimes useless since Darius can typically just hit her back while his bleeds makes his soul disappear faster.

Those problems are usually rectified with appropriate timing I can't tell you how many times I've got either of those two into a spot where they were disadvantaged before they realized it. Also you don't trade basics with dar just poke with q and e until you are on top trying to basic attack him is foolish to begin with since you know his reworked passive is busted.

Winning with Illaoi is just about landing enough E's and using them to poke to last until you get 6. Then in an all out fight Illaoi that lands E + R beats darius in an all in. If she misses her E she is fucked though. It's a really fun matchup that both can win based on skill.

Illaoi E is far from useless.... if she lands it she will deal 25-45% +8% per 100 AD increased damage if it hits both the soul and the real champion and most of Illaoi damage is AoE (or it will deal 25%-45% damage instead of 0% when missing the real champion)

Darius is definitely frustrating for obvious reasons and Poppy is strong but I wouldn't call her OP. She has a 48% win rate despite being a simple champion. Perhaps one of the reasons she seems so powerful is that damage is so high right now and she is one of the few champions that can tank a lot of damage (as tanks should). Courage of the colossus is another reason, and it is getting heavily nerfed shortly, which should make fighting Poppy easier and hopefully shift the toplane meta (yay!). I main Poppy (almost 200k mastery) and I have found the following matchups to be quite difficult.

Melee counterpicks are strong 1v1 champs with sustain such as Darius Mordekaiser Illaoi Trundle

Ranged Champions who can kite her very easily include Kayle Quinn and perhaps Jayce . Although I have only seen it rarely, I'm sure Vayne top would also work fantastically.

If you know what you are doing Fiora and Gangplank are good options. Fiora can riposte her stun and if you hit many vitals, does not matter how tanky Poppy builds. Fiora becomes more of a threat the longer the game goes on so even if Poppy beats you in lane Fiora will eventually reach the point where she can 1v1 anyone.

Poppy has practically no kill pressure on Gangplank. He can zone her with barrels and instantly remove her wall stun with oranges. This, combined with his passive movement speed means that she can basically never catch him out and he can continue to poke with barrels and Q. Even if she ults you away to save herself, Gangplank ult can finish her off.

Against Darius I suggest taking Riven or Jayce. Against Poppy I suggest a ban. I know counterpicking being the 'only' solution sucks. But atm it is the way. Just be careful picking Riven. If they pick Poppy, Jayce or Fiora you are screwed.

Poppy's % Hp damage doesn't work well on him either since he lacks significant base hp :^)

Jokes aside, the thing about Poppy vs. Morde is that he can actually shred her rather easily due to his strong sustained damage, burst AND % HP damage nuke on his R. She's the ONE lane I ALWAYS get item 3151 as well, coupled with Rylais that's 4% current HP shred. and R ticks 10 times, making it deal about 50% max hp + 40% current hp.

He'll just deal with the midget if she tries to dive the backline.

True, there's only a handful of melees that can beat Morde's shiny metal ass easily. Darius Tryndamere and sometimes Jax come to mind.

Kled annihilates poppy in and out of lane due to the fact that if poppy wants to get tanky she's giving you free damage, against Darius you should play Gnar or Yorick. Gnar can kite and Yorick needs to get close so that Darius will miss his Q and out sustain Darius. You also have poke with mist walkers. With that in mind, just don't let him have his extended trades, he WILL ALWAYS win with 5 bleed stacks because of the free ad he gets off his passive.

I've had some pretty good success as Gnar Gnar against Darius. His range and mobility make the laning phase pretty annoying for Darius. That said, I'm also a Gnar main, and have pretty much figured out how to keep Darius just within my range and just outside of his.

Poppy is a different thing altogether though. Gnar doesn't really perform well against super tanks, though, some of my most pleasurable games do come from laning against a Poppy as Gnar. I don't know why, but it's kind of fun.
