Riot's favorite champ isn't actually Lee Sin,

FalconPawwwwnch··62 votes·4,515 views

Lee has nerfs on the PBE

It isn't Yasuo, he has changes planned too according to Riot Q&A

It isn't Vayne, she got nerfed

It isn't Kennen, he has nerfs too

It's actually Jayce

Because Riot has no nerfs at all planned for this champ even though he had absurd stats at worlds

Let's nerf Shaco instead

Its actually Ahri.

And ryze, he will get reworked 20 more times and he'll always be broken in each time.

Ryze has nerfs tho

Ryze always finds a way to remain broken, and then riot out of the blue buffs him again

I agree with this.. also Jayce was out of the meta for so long i had to downvote OP for being so naive.

HazyCloud74 votes

The right answer, Ahri is perpetually top ~5 in win rate and play rate in mid lane.

NineTailedMystic8 votes

She's always strong, but never overbearing.

TwinkiePro2 votes

especially not when she lands her blitz hook amiright?

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Yes, the 1-2s CC that's her only real redeeming feature most of the time, that doesn't displace and is usually maxed last.

Baron Perenolde3 votes

Her only redeeming feature? I know people downplay their mains (I'm just as guilty of it) but come on now.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Her damage is sub par compared to most mids in terms of bases and ratios, the only other thing she has is mobility. Her kit revolves around Charm for making a pick.

Limrick2 votes

To be fair her mobility is really good.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

It is good, but mobility does nothing on its own. Her damage is only adequate and she has a reliance on Charm to hit the back end of Q and make picks.

TwinkiePro2 votes

Mobility does a lot on its own. Everyone despises yasuo, riven and lee sin, some of the most mobile champions in the game.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Yes, because they dick on you once they reach you because of their damage. If they only had mobility and no damage, they'd be worthless.

TwinkiePro3 votes

And that's why she does well, because she has good consistent damage, pick, and mobility.

Saying she has low scalings doesn't mean much simply because several of her abilities can hit multiple times as well as having low cooldowns, as well as having 2 abilities give her mobility and another that reduces her enemy's.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Ahri's full rotation is 854 + (2.14x) with one ult charge or 854 + (2.74x) with all 3 ult charges. She struggles very hard if she falls behind unlike Viktor or Syndra who will still delete most squishies if a little behind. That's EVERYTHING including all multihits.

Her cooldowns are average, and Charm is a 12s CD that doesn't decrease with ranks, only CDR. Her CDs are only low because most Ahri players prioritize CDR in our runes with 10% scaling CDR, Morello's 20% and Zhonya's/Abyssal/Blue for the last 10%

TwinkiePro3 votes

She doesn't hyperscale like syndra or viktor for many reasons, but she is a very solid pick into most comps simply because of her mobility. Her damage certainly isn't the greatest, but the fact that she can fit into most comps so well is due mostly in part of her mobility and kiting.

We can nitpick all day what champs are better at doing what. I can argue that Ahri's charm is a shorter cooldown, longer range blitz hook, but we all know blitz is still the king of picks. The fact is that she is very well rounded and highly mobile. A 53% winrate and 11% play rate indicate that she is indeed quite strong.

P.S. with 3 ult charges the base would be 1154 considering Spirit Fire refreshes and can relock upon targets. This also means the scaling would be (3.34x) as well.

Baron Perenolde2 votes

What about her safety and sustain? There's a reason Ahri is consistently in the top 15 of win rates in spite of her huge pick rate; she's not busted or anything, but she is a very good champion.

Sraeg20134 votes

Fact check: Ahri remains one of the most picked mid laners and sporting 52-54% winrate since July 2014 only being nerfed once when she became so overbearing her winrate went to 58%.

Checks OP.

Or maybe an entire company, Riot, doesn't have one favorite champion? There's no reason their shouldn't be some slight soft spots because the people behind balance are humans, and humans have likes and dislikes, but the whole "Riot's favorite" argument is bs.

  1. Lethality was introduced, armor pen was nerfed heavily early => Jayce nerfs
  2. Your arguments are so illogical. You could at least explain why Jayce is good at all of these things (he's not - his teamfight is mediocre, you're thinking of his 5v5 poke (which is great) and his 1v1 dueling (insane) and putting it together like its some sort of absurd puzzle).
  3. While Jayce is definitely strong right now, you're overreacting. Chill out. Just because he's not getting nerfed next patch doesn't mean he's not going to receive nerfs in the one after that. His favorite build, the armor pen build, has been nerfed with changes to Youmuus and Maw.
SteelMankind3 votes

I agree with you that Jayce is pretty strong and might deserve some nerfs, but his teamfights is pretty bad. You can't use melee form at all; he's really only useful for the poke.

Also remember how underplayed Jayce was for an entire 2 seasons before Riot buffed him. Every champ deserves some time to be a bit overtuned.

The nerfs kick the shit out of AP Shaco, while doing doing nothing to help AD. At least when Riot nerfed AP Kog'maw, there was some compensation for bot lane Kog.

MunchCrunchLunch4 votes

ahri. last time she spiked to highest wr they made her charm not cancel dashes (which it shouldn't have it was a bug). lmao. it didn't change her winrate either by much.

ahri has been top 5 mid laners for over a year.

Envoy of Death4 votes

its ahri can have top5 winrate for like 8 months and riot is giving her compensation buffs while ignoring other champions who get fucked way harder and actually need help

NineTailedMystic1 votes

What compensation buffs lol.

WoonStruck7 votes

I think he's referring to her getting MS on her Q for losing the damage amp E and gaining a little bit of damage way back when.

I don't think he realizes it was to change her direction/purpose as opposed to being a straight nerf.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

She actually didn't gain any damage form 5.2 to 5.3 since her W damage buff got reverted in 5.3 and Charm gained +0/5/10/15/20 base damage and +0.15 AP (.5 AP from .35 AP) in compensation for -20% Damage Amp in 5.2. It was a pretty net neutral change after she got rightfully nerfed in 5.3

WoonStruck4 votes

Like I said, change in direction (not an assassin) more than nerf.

A little while after that they added the Q MS buff since the one universal thing about her no matter what she can accomplish at any given time seems to be kiting, right?

NineTailedMystic3 votes

Yes. She was moved from Assassin to Kite Mage, but in the new subclass listing from Riot she's a Burst Mage. I would rather they remove her Q MS to make her less safe in lane, but bump up her bases/ratios since they're rather low compared to most mids.

The reason why Ahri has a high winrate is because she's so safe at all points of the game since they gave her the Q MS. I like the MS honestly, but I think it gives her too much strength early.

Marshbouy2 votes

Please show me the empirical data that Jayce is OP

ShaolinToilet5 votes

That doesn't prove he's broken at all. Having a 51% win rate is not broken.

The Taco Kat1 votes

I didn't intend to call him broken; that was miscommunication by my part. What I meant to prove is that he is a champion who has a very high skill ceiling, but his "pick him up and play" playstyle is also a bit too strong. As I stated above, I think a small damage adjustment to his ranged W could make it much more pleasant to lane versus a Jayce as a melee champion.

My apologies for the lack of explanation.

Marshbouy1 votes

wow a 51% winrate with a 7% playrate? That's hardly anything. 52% winrate and a 1.5% playrate? Still hardly anything.

The Taco Kat1 votes

An 8% play rate is average, so it isn't much below an average play rate, but I'd expect a fairly high skillcap champion to not go above 50%. I'm not calling him broken, but he is definitely needed a small adjustment, such as a slightly lower scale on his ranged form W just to make laning standable if you are a melee.

Ugin's actually pretty reasonable now, isn't he?

Ehh 18-30 from what I've seen, still more than I'd like to pay ;-;. My Emrakul, the Promised End Commander deck really should get both Ugin and Karn but they're just more money than they're worth to me.
