Can Yasuo Ult Stop Taking Him Out of Turret Range?

It already refreshes his passive and he has a safe dive due to his dash, I don't understand the need for his ult to take him out of turret range.

I hate it when I get tower dived, some sort of rune heals them up and at low hp, they somehow tank the turret shot despite not being all that tanky, then another turret shot, but since they walk away the turret just decides to fucking cancel the finishing blow. I HATE THIS.

His ult is entirely controlled by the game and is a hard self CC. It avoiding tower if the opponent is on the edge of the tower line is necessary for the player to not be randomly screwed by the game and where it wants to place him.

Removing this is impossible without fundamentally changing how his ult works.

His ult always places him behind the target. It's not random.

The only time it changes is when he's under tower.

So this point:

Sounds like Zed r.... (also places zed behind enemy)

Except yasuo R is instant and doesn't have a delay so you don't give out a warning, you just keep hitting knockups until you decide to press R.

So why is yasuo R so forgiving.

TheGreatNinx3 votes

But unlike Zed he has pre-requisite before he can even ult. He needs a knock up. While zed at lvl 6 can just put a point into the ult and be ready to go. Massive difference.

Terozu4 votes

Zed has a much shorter range and isn't aoe.

TheGreatNinx1 votes

So let me get his straight. Your saying zed has a shorter ranger then yasuo when has more range then anything in yasuo's kit accept his ult and charged q (two stacks mind you, sure he can get that fast later on but it still requires more then one press of zed's q) then has w that extends his range of both e and Q and can take it to instantly close and then ult you that follows during the duration of the cast? Yea no not buying it. Oh he is AOE btw.

Terozu1 votes

Zed also has resource cost, no shields, far less mobilty, and must land skill shots within a certain time frame for his ult to do anything notable.

Yasuo can ult off any displacement barring knockdowns from literally off your screen for instant suppression and high damage.

TheGreatNinx1 votes

"resource cost" his Energy is rarely a factor in fights and thats why people hate playing agasint him. He supposed to be gated my this resource cost called energy but that rarely happens. Doesn't need a shield he has long range dash in an instant. Again, Yasuo needs that displacement before he can even ult if those displacements dont happen or your team has none he won\t be blinking from off screen unless he is successfully landing his skill shot q or e q flashing on you. And the only skill shot zed needs to land is his q and due to the recent power creeps its becoming even painfully obivous you don't really need to land all 3 q's to kill someone where you can just pointblank range q and auto iginite e and most likely the target is dead Not much skill expression there as it used to be.

crippler382 votes

I honestly think the only reason it's like that is because it has an inbuilt channel time of like, a second or so, and they figure he'd die if he did that near turret due to always shmooving to the other side of the target.

Since the turret is on the other side of the enemy and all.

Because unlike zed you can at least get away from him and don't take a shit ton of damage, a few seconds after you've escaped it. Unlike said, fake ass ninja turtle's shredder over here... Plus zed's isn't a hard cc. Not really sure what you'd call zed's type of ult.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Because Zed can fucking blink out of turret range while the first shot is still mid-flight.

TheGreatNinx1 votes

Seems you don't understand how yasuo ult works. Yasuo gets placed depending on the yasuo's cursor. So if the yasuo player is dumb enough he can still end up in turret range. Its not something the game auto corrects to. So when he is real close to when not in turret range its because the yasuo put the cursor right around your champion instead slightly back or off to the side.

Z3Sleeper8 votes

No, he doesn't. He goes behind the target enemy. This is factual, stating otherwise just makes you look silly.

https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Yasuo

He goes outside turret automatically, player input has nothing to do with it nor does his natural ult positioning.

When you knock up multiple targets you select the position you ult at by hovering the champion you want to appear behind relative to your position. You cannot freely select where in your ult AoE you want to go, you always go behind a target.

Read the wiki, play Yasuo, play against Yasuo, use practice tool. All of these are viable options to help you understand this fact.

TheGreatNinx1 votes

Bruh your own link proved you wrong. "Yasuo Flash blinks to the other side of a Sight icon visible Airborne icon airborne enemy champion nearest to the cursor" to top this off its a fandom wiki not an official wiki. cause I have been placed in turret range before with Yasuo ult. No "auto adjust" saved me, was tanking tower shots.

Yasuo blinks to the other side of an enemy champion nearest to the cursor (aka target champion).

If you end up under turret that's because, once again:

If Yasuo would be placed inside a turret's attack range upon blinking, he will instead attempt to position himself outside it

ATTEMPT, not WILL, he will ATTEMPT to position himself outside it. If his ult range does not extend outside the turret from the target, then he will simply ult under the tower.

It's not rocket science. Also:

Not true actually, since if you delay the ult you actually go to the opposite side, thereby being in front of them(?). It's weird. Well, it's more like behind them, since your instant ult cast is in front of their path. Either way it's dumb.

zeskgames20 votes

Well the how come Warwick ult doesn't place him out of turret? It has a longer duration and is hard CC

Tahminatrix 2 votes

If warwick ults on/towards the enemy who is under turret he chooses to atleast go in that direction under turret. That's the only argument I can think of since yasuo just randomly picks who to R when multiple enemies are knocked up.

That's the only argument I can think of that anyone would use against that.

That and warwick is more tanky but then again, yasuo has his shield back up when he presses R soo he doesn't need protection from turret shots.

RoakeyDoakey366 votes

Turrets don't proc Yasuo's shield, so unless a champion proc's it, it won't block the damage

Z3Sleeper2 votes
  1. Yasuo chooses to ult enemies under tower

  2. He does not randomly select an enemy, he will always teleport behind a target champion (or as close to them as possible while keeping out of turret range). If you ult with the cursor a mile away from the knocked up targets it will automatically select the closest one.

Tahminatrix 2 votes

Thanks for overcoming that argument.

People need to stop calling Yasuo ulti a "hard self CC" to try to explain away how unbalanced he is, unless they're also going to use the same term for Vi ulti, Fiddle ulti, Kayn ulti, xerath ulti, vel'koz ulti, braum ulti, galio ulti, janna ulti, jarvan ulti, jhin ulti, karthus ulti, kat ulti, liss ulti, lux ulti, malz ulti, etc.

Just because you have to stay in a certain spot for a moment while you do your tons of damage doesn't make it a "hard self CC".

WW has full control of where he is placed on the enemy, and is always at the same set distance. This is not true for yas, whos ult design would physically force him under tower even if the enemy is not.

Yasuo also has full control of where he is placed on the enemy without this fail safe mechanic. He knows that when he headbutts his r key, he will be in melee with that enemy.

And no, the enemy cannot move to adjust where yasuo will ult, because they are knocked up as a pre requisite to activate the ability, and thus far, if you are knocked up, you can do nothing.

Removing the mechanic to not auto place yourself under tower will just put yas under tower even if the enemy is multiple teemos away from their tower range. It is not an option.

Allowing the yasuo to choose which side he ults will do literally nothing, as that is literally what the game does for yas currently. (It also physically wouldnt work, given if multiple targets are nearby, the game has no way to tell which person you wanted to ult in the applicable area, given his cursor placement is meant to select which person he does ult)

Very unlikely situation that is even more so unlikely to effect gameplay.

That’s like complaining about how kayn can still die to a vlad ultimate after he ults.

Yasuo should be punished for luring a target that is under a tower. It’s that simple.

Again, if you allow him to choose which side he ults to, THIS CHANGES LITERALLY NOTHING. He doesnt get placed farther than is allowed because the enemy is near a turret, all it does is place him not under tower range if an available spot is free outside turret range upon ulting. You know, LIKE IT SHOULD.

And yes, there are gameplay ramifications to setting it up like this. 3 targets, and you want to go near the first, but ult the second. You can miss the 3rd, where as the functionality the ult currently has would hit all 3.

You seem to be ignoring that it will put him large distances out of turret range while continuing his ult. And THATS the problem. If he headbutts his keyboard and blinks to someone who’s under a turret he eats a turret shot or 3.

When I blink under a turret as Ezreal and hit an enemy champion, what happens? Turret shot.

When I malz ult someone under their turret what happens? Turret shot.

Im not forgetting anything, you just dont comprehend how it works.

Yas ult ALWAYS places him between x distance and y distance (where x is the enemy champion and y is the maximum radius of the allowed positioning) on the opposite side of the target he is ulting.

If this would place him under tower, the y is made into a circle around x and it checks if there is a valid position outside of turret range to avoid cases where the opponent is clearly outside tower agro, yet the game auto places him into turret range.

He doesnt get "bonus distance". Its literally the same distance on a different side.

It does this because his R places them behind the opponent. This means he'd end up getting shot several times by ulting someone not even in their own fucking turret range without the reposition.

Literally no other champion in the game runs that risk solely on their own kit. Zed might if his opponent stuns him immediately after appearing but that's not happening at most tiers because ping alone can render that impossible before he blinks back to safety.

And let me re-emphasize this point, since people keep fucking missing it:

#YASUO'S R PLACES HIM BEHIND HIS TARGET. THE REPOSITION IS SO THAT HE DOESN'T DIE IF HE FUCKING ULTS SOMEONE OUTSIDE OF THEIR OWN FUCKING TURRET, SINCE HE'D LITERALLY BE THE ONLY CHAMPION WHO THIS CAN HAPPEN TO WITH ONLY THEIR OWN KIT WITHOUT THE REPOSITION

I again want to emphasize that THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE UNDER THEIR TURRET for it to be able to shoot him, if it weren't for this.

Couldn't this just be fixed by making him untargetable during the ult, but not afterwards? If you want to dive, you should be prepared to take a shot or two. Getting in and out with zero risk is some pretty shit design.

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

Making him untargetable is a net buff for him because at least he can still be killed while ulting by an ally. Plus if hes untargetable the turret wouldn't shoot him anyway.

Yas Ulti is AoE. If he could hit them with the AoE while being outside of turret range it lets him. The fact that you can't control it is a bad thing, so they give him this small thing to help in that situation.

If you think about the hitbox of it like a Malphite Ulti, it makes a lot more sense.

If they remove it automatically doing it, and simply allow us to choose which side he goes (kinda like Kat's E) to that would HELP good Yasuo players, and hurt the already bad ones.

If they simply make it so you go behind them in every case, then it's just stupid and clunky for an AoE ability. No champion should be made intentionally clunkier.

If he 'controls the wind', why does he even need 2 Q's before he can throw one?
Why is he melee at all? He should be able to just throw shards of hurting wind everywhere. How can a 'wall of wind' that can be walked through stop rockets, and bullets? How does his clothes stay on when he uses a gust of wind to throw 200+ pounds of flesh, metal, and cloth dozens of feet into the air when his clothes should just rip apart? How does he throw wind when it's a samurai sword... which is something so insanely sharp it cuts through stuff, but not wind? It can act like a giant flat fan in that regard? How does a tornado knock you up instead of back or away as a normal tornado would do farrrr before you're picked up?

  • Real swords can only make a few cuts before it must be sharpened again. Even for a trained master, they can't manage more than a few cuts before things like blood, scratches on the edge, cracks on the blade, etc force the user stop and resharpen the blade.
  • Swords cannot generate tornados.
  • A human cannot instantly dash behind an opponent.
  • A human cannot keep a person off the ground for an entire second with just the upward force of a sword slash as the blade is designed to be thin/sharp enough to smoothly separate atoms from atoms with minimal resistance. A slash capable of lifting a person off the ground would require an enormous amount of resistance from the object being slashed to use as an opposing force against the coming force of the blade to then transform the energy from the slash into a physical upward force but at that point it wouldn't be 'cutting', it'd be closer to 'smashing' and that's not what a sword is designed to do. The force of the resistance needed would ultimately snap the blade like a twig and that wouldn't be good for the wielder..

Outside in fantasy game he can do everything what proggrame wants i just note that real swords are primary stabbing weapons and in real historic fight they even hold blade to aim for opening in armor, while you can slash with with sword it can be negated just with basic padded armor. in contrast to hollywood undestructible swords used like flails real swords were quite fragile and promptly destroyed if used "blade to blade"
