From what i've seen in pro play i don't think this game revolves around teamfights/baron anymore

It seems like the name of the game is just getting the slightest advantage and then using it to push all your opposing teams turrets/inhibitors down as quickly as possible. More towers die per game sometimes than champions... there's only 22 towers in the game in total.

What caused this? Towers got nerfed. Death timers went up. You can't afford to die at 20 minutes anymore, you just lose if that happens. Basically you are rewarded for picking highly mobile champions (udyr) who don't fight but instead just run around destroying your base. ZZrots is suddenly one of the best items in the game because iit makes you harder to kill and it helps you siege.

Getting baron is no longer an advantage, you just win the game outright. if your team has baron the game is going to end within the duration of the buff because you just sit outside the enemy base until the towers are all gone... dance around their inhibs until the inhibs are gone...

Instead of making the games more action packed you punish players too harshly for taking action and have turned the game from a 5v5 battle to who can kill the other teams base as quickly as possible.

The game's always been like this in one way or another. I've played since before Season 1, and back then it was still about capitalizing on your opponents' mistakes rather than making clutch plays in the form of team fights.

Any strategy game at a high level is like this. When both sides understand the game so fully, the only opportunity to gain a lead comes from a lapse in decision making.
