Orianna support

item 3174

So this patch grail was changed to give 5 AP per every 25% base mana regen you have.

I tested this on another game as Orianna support and it did very well in lane with the shielding and slow from w, only down side is mana cost is hefty early on.

So after getting four items item 3174 item 2301 item 3504 item 3107 all with mana regen I ended up with around 350 AP which was actually enough to 1v1 a squishy skipping shoes since I wanted to stack my grail passive, I went sorc shoes after though.

I ended up with six item and a death cap as my last item along with sorc shoes, ended up with about 530 AP with an elixir, provided a lot of utility during team fights while being a threat to any squishy. Also had enough burst to chunk the adc almost 90%. If the game went on really long I would've replaced sorc with Void Staff but didn't happen.

So what do you guys think, Orianna too good or is grail overtuned? Or any other concerns.

That's about the build I'd go with her even before, I really like Ori Support. However, I prefer FQC + Ruby Sighstone; don't forget that Ruby Sightstone reduces item active CD's.

I enjoy FQC too, but I just went with watchers because of the cost efficiency. But I agree hope Ori support gets a little more recognition she was always one of my favorite "off meta" support.

Yeah the pros always go with the combo item instead of tier 3 gold, but I've always really loved spooky ghosts for safe warding (and assists that normally would be way too far for me to get lol).

You can focus on damage with Q, but I prefer to max E-Protect first; the low CD shield really catches people off guard and they over-commit to killing an ally you will save.

I was thinking of try 3 points Q then max E sometime soon, or maybe max e against more passive lanes.

I think the Grail change made her viable, or at least significnatly moreso now. She was do-able before in the role, but didn't offer enough to make it better than other picks (Karma/Lulu).

I would consider something other than deathcap though. item 3030 offers additional a bit of utility for an offensive support build. Spreadshot helps find stealthed enemies, slows others (makes ults easier to land), and provides some decent manaless waveclear. item 3222 For a more utility oriented slot. 100% base mana regen also feeds into Athene's for +20 AP as an added bonus. item 3070 If you can snag first blood, Tear can sometimes be a decent buy. Keeps your mana pool healthy through midgame where you start being impactful. Seraph's shield will also work nicely with all those Forbidden Idol items you've got built up.

Wow how did i not think of tear sooner, thanks.

I would go Mikaels against CC heavy team but that game they didn't really have much so I didn't really think it would be worth.

Hextech, might invest into it, personally I think she already got decent wave clear even with around 300 AP.

Working as intended. AP champs with shields and/or healing are meant to do this now.

Seems pretty busted if you ask me, being a threat and giving utility to carries.

Maybe, but they need to give non supports incentives to play the role. You did take a lot longer to ramp up than a midlaner though right? And you don't get that sweet roam kill potential early. But you trade that for helping out allies better.

Supports became just team oriented midlaners (AP) or toplaners (Tank). And I am personally fine with that. You no longer feel like half a champion as a support. But one that can actually hold their own as whatever it is you do.

was it w max ori? also i enjoy these off meta supports and think ori is quite fun with the perma wards.

Q, W, E

Mainly because the forbidden idol gives you a small boost and shields also scale with AP, was also debating to go Windspeaker over TLD.

I'd say either works, depending if you intend to be offensive or defensive on top of your utility.

I decided to try a more aggressive style, down the line I do hope to try E Max with wind speakers.

It was doable before but it's much better now. However, one game of Orianna support without video to prove your points it probably isn't enough to have a verdict on how good Orianna support is.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Neither, hardly a concern compared to non-supports such as annie.

Honestly, if someone loses to Orianna support they did something terribly wrong.

There is a reason she isn't played down there, her base damages are garbage. Any decent Brand Velkoz Veigar Taliyah Zyra should destroy that lane.

She takes too long to scale and good players won't let you get there in the support role.
