Devourer was broken, but at least it added build diversity....

Devourer was the pioneer for on hit builds. It was strong, sure but it opened the game to on hit builds. I used it on the likes of Diana Ekko Varus .

It really added a unique build path. But then it was reworked into rageblade and now on hit builds are almost none existant. Rageblade made devour into such a niche item that very few champs can use it. Diana and Ekko can't build devourer any more because they don't have ad scaling, but they do have great on hit passives that could benefit.

Rageblade is almost never built. Only Kayle and very few champs use it. I think this is because the item closed off a lot of champs who weren't hybrids. And on top of that, it kinda hard to maintain a fully stacked rageblade.

IDK, on hit builds are kinda dead to me. I feel riot went in the wrong direction with devourer. I know it was strong and needed to be nerfed, but rageblage is not working.

I don't think it being strong was the problem, it was the fact that junglers would farm heavy for the first 18 mins to complete it. They've been pushing junglers to gank and have a lane presence more.

This. Riot didn't want AFK farming so they made it into bloodrazor.

Point taken. But want I'm trying to make clear is that Rageblade is not working for on hit builds. The item is too conditional and niche.

I don't think riot really knows what to do with on hit builds. It doesn't help that they have to worry about AP and AD.

I mean, devourer was kind of a braindead jungle item, really. The hard farm to 18 minutes to get your thirty stacks so you can finally scale up and be useful. By that time if your team was getting stomped, there wasn't much you could do besides try to farm faster so you can be worth literally anything to your team.

I don't care how much variety it added. Its presence in the meta made lanes stagnant and jungle was a time bomb. Didn't stop the Devourer jungler from taking their own camps? GG, it's over. They now beat you from there on out no matter your impact elsewhere. Have fun!

I mean, you just aren't finding off-meta things to build it on. ;)

I use it on Kog, because the increasing attack speed and extra on hit is amazing.

I use it on Kayle because it's baseline at this point.

Sure most characters don't use it, a ton of characters don't use Tri-force anymore unless it's baseline for their kit, but you can still build it.

Let me tell you, meta means nothing. If you want to try rageblade out on someone, do it.
