My greatest QoL feature I wanna see this year in League (exists in EVERY other game).

Ability to know my opponents ranks without using 3rd party websites.

Simply put, If I'm playing ranked, I wanna have some basic understanding of who my enemy is. I dont care about their champion pool or the W/L, or their specific masteries..... just their rank. Please show me enemy borders during ranked play....

How can I trust that the Riot matchmaker is working properly and matching me vs others of a similar rank, when they choose to hide enemy borders? The loading screen looks so lopsided when its like that. Why does only one side have awesome borders? Does the enemy player not deserve a chance to show off their rightfully earned rank?

The second reason this is vital is because this feature exists in every single other competitive game.

Most of the other games I play have ranks displayed during the loading screen (and sometimes in the scoreboard in -game), such as hearthstone, overwatch, and heroes of the storm. I find that I can enjoy my game much more knowing that the game is (more or less) balanced and that everyones in the same boat (similar ranks). Hell I think even in Runescape you can check the stats of your enemy during a duel. I strongly disagree with Riot's stance on not showing enemy ranks, and I think they are VERY wrong (just like they were about many things like voice chat, additional maps etc). Its a competitive integrity issue for me, not a "fear" thing (does Riot actually think so little of its players thats they think we will start panicking if we see a higher ranked player in my game? NAW dawg, that will in fact motivate me that much more to outplay this enemy).

Are you guys actually scared to know you the rank of your enemies (during a ranked game?). Or is Riot just trying to hide the ranks because their system doesnt group similar ranks together and they're trying to hide their shortcomings.

I'm curious to know what others think. Do you think the loading screen looks lopsided? Would you mind showing or viewing ranked borders during ranked games? What if it was optional? (Players can choose to show or hide their ranked borders based on user preferences/settings).

This will never happen because it would show to every player that the matchmaking is broken.

The funny thing is: This used to be a feature already in league for years. It was removed.

I agree with your post. While the loading screen and one point displayed ranked border and ping rate of everyone in game, this caused players with lower rank / higher ping to be focused in game. I think this was the reason why the removed some of the information in loading screen.

Personally I dont think its a problem to have more information about your opponents, even more so if everyone has the same information.

IMO showing ranked borders would be nice but it wouldn't elucidate whether matchmaking is balanced because...matchmaking is not determined by rank. Matchmaking is determined by MMR, which is invisible. If you want to see whether matchmaking is balanced, show MMR in the load-in screen and in player profiles.

In general I think it would simply look better to show all borders. Seems like babbie's first vidya to not show enemy ranks.

Please, that's not going to happen.

"But... but... butt muh rank shaming!" ~ Riot's excuse for hiding enemy borders years ago.

I totally agree. Rank should be visible to everyone

You can't see ranks in CSGO until the match is over :p

I do miss the simplicity of something like Starcrafts ladder. Simple point values for each player and the net total of the teams points are within a small margin of each other.

I agree, and like others said this used to be in the game when I started playing but they removed it. Most likely to hide their atrocious match-making. And on top of your suggestion I'd also like to see which players are a pre-made with others, another feature that Dota and Heroes of the Storm has but Riot is afraid to implement. The biggest joke might even be that Heroes of the Storm has all these features despite their match-making being even more terrible than Riot's but still Riot is too afraid to implement these very basic features.

Why? What you gonna do about it? People just start crying when they learn that their opponent 1 tier above them. Disgusting. And it happens really often. There just gonna be more people crying "oh rito! you and your broken matchmaking" -__- If your opponent below your tier - you will let your guard down and will get eaten. If he is above you - you will be too intimidated for proper plays. Completely useless information.
