Would Riot ever consider undoing a gameplay update for a champion?
There's been good updates
, there's been bad updates
, there's been shit updates
.
This being the case, I feel the question should be asked, WOULD the design and/or balance team ever consider undoing a gameplay update because of poor quality, results, reception, etc.?
When an update goes well, it's great! nothing needs to be done, but when it goes bad it seems like Riot just wants to push onward with them despite no one being happy. Cass was changed and felt bad to play, but instead of undoing the change and heading back to the drawing board, they dug in their heels and gave her multiple buffs until she's a monster late game, a lane bully (which was the problem meant to be fixed with the rework), but she STILL doesn't feel good to play. Veigar got totally dumped on with his update, but instead of REALLY devoting the time to reworking him, they gave his new terrible cage a unique effect (stopping dashes) to give the illusion that he's a niche pick at least.
In fairness to Riot, gameplay updates happen for a REASON, something in a champs kit is old, busted, OP, UP, etc. so I GET not wanting to change something BACK to a problematic state after a step in what is meant to be the right direction, plus it sucks to see your hard work go to waste.
But if your gameplay update just trades one problem for a worse problem, or just makes the problem worse, wouldn't it make sense to undo and try again? you've done it with numbers changes on champs when something ends up being too big a change.
