So what's the counterplay when lee comes to your lane with red and ward jumps ?

option paralysis··92 votes·5,138 views

Please, I'd like to know what do you do when lee comes to gank lvl 3 with red and you flash, he just ward jumps and murders you. Even if you have some mobility, he will just flash too and you still die. Then he can come back, because you have no flash with his fucking ward jumps again. God forbit when he's lvl 6, no counterplay whatsoever, ward jump -> r > q = dead. But hey, lets give him his time in the spotlight a little bit longer, he only had since forever. Nice skins for lee tho, pls make more.

But you see, ganking is just one of his strengths! You have to look at his weaknesses too, like... like... ... ...what are his weaknesses again?

He maliciously feeds 40% of the time because of his insanely high playrate, so both the enemy and the ally team hate Lee Sin

I'm pretty sure this is why everyone hates champions like Yasuo and Lee Sin, because they warp the game so heavily. They win or lose it for you every time

I think it was use of energy.

Yeah just like Vayne's primary weakness is her mana costs.

I laughed so hard at that

Energy is a weakness for the ninjas but not lee sin.

He falls off over the course of the game (from 52% at 20 to 46% at 50), his engage is unreliable (R can be flashed even after hitting Q/gapclosing with W), he is a weak teamfighter compared to most junglers and he is hard to play which results in a 45% winrate for beginners (opposed to a 54% winrate with 80 games).

I hope I could help you.

BananaSlayerAMO2 votes

In terms of teamfighting, although he's not at the level of Shyvana or Vi, I wouldn't consider him to be weak since he can basically engage after landing Q on any high priority target.

And like you said, his combo can be flashed, but so can most others. His cds are generally low enough for him to try again later, and getting a flash from a high priority target is still an achievement in itself.

If you see your enemy, before they see you...or...kind of...lee doesn't see much.

He uses his precise sense of smell.

Blindness is no impairment against a smelly enemy.

This mind set really upsets me. It's obnoxious that mid/top feed enemy lee first blood so often. You KNOW he's going to gank between 3 and 4 minutes. So WHY are you actively pushing your lane? Last hit. Typically, the enemy will be pushing it into you. Even if you're both last hitting, the wave will be frozen in the middle, which, early, makes it easy to get back to tower. But no, everyone shoves their lane and complains when they're ganked. Lee is OBVIOUS. Don't fall for it early, and he's worthless late.

Alternately, play Illaoi or Darius so when Lee comes to "gank", you pick up a double kill. :^)

Zac works too if you build right, lots o' CC & %Health Mag every 3 sec,

FiddlesOnTheRoof3 votes

haha. I love the patented darius double kill at level 2. My favorite is when they fail the gank and have both flashed away, and I pick up level 3 as they're running. Flash e both of them, and get the double, and win the game. hahaha

Darius Sees enemy Lee Sin coming to gank, proceeds to stack some Hemorrage on the enemy laner and pushes.

LeeSin Comes to gank

Darius Gets 5 stacks 5 seconds later: DOUBLE KILL

If it was that easy, he wouldn't be competitively viable. Of course, your advice still works wonders, and against more than just Lee.

FiddlesOnTheRoof3 votes

well in competitive he doesn't repeatedly get the level 3 cheese gank. And in competitive they effectively pull of tower dives we can only dream of. In our shitter elos, I do think it's that easy. But yes, that advice applies to any early game jugnlers

Decimús22 votes

He cant do much if you are managing your wave well. If you are pushing without vision , you deserve whatever comes to you.

Gregor Gysi3 votes

I don't understand, how am I supposed to win my lane if I can't just mindlessly push!?

NineTailedMystic10 votes

Not my fault Riot took away my green wards and made yellow trinket suck. Early vision is pretty hard in mid lane.

People ask what the counterplay is but the counterplay is to know that Lee Sin is probably going to start looking for a gank around 3-4 minutes at level 3 with red buff. So ward your gank paths.

Your post only talks about what Lee does but it says nothing about the state of your lane. If Lee is ganking you at level 3 with red and your entire river is dark you deserve to die. same at level 6. If you know Lee Sin can do this, and you know he's going to want to do it because it's one of the primary reasons he's picked, you need to properly prepare BEFORE he comes to your lane. Like you have to with a plethora of other junglers. (Eve and Shaco, for example, though they can be much harder to ward against because of invis/camo.)

3TWarrior1 votes

this would be true but it is also situational. You can ward the river bush as always a good choice but when you do, the opponent might ping lee about the bush and tell him to go to the other side, then he comes from darkness unwarded either behind your turret when your opponent gets agressive or from the same path just less hidden

I am her Rakan2 votes

Always favor the side you ward. The increased travel time from his Q and the vision you've got on him should make it fairly easy to dodge the Q. If you have to step up, step up close to minions. Don't overextend.

Lee in 3v3 is balanced because he has no ward jumping there, I don't know why they still keep it in 5v5

YumaS2Astral4 votes

I actually find Lee to be very weak in anything other than Summoner's Rift 5v5 exactly because he has no ward jumping. However he is too strong with ward jumping in Summoner's Rift 5v5.

Peharps he has been heavily balanced around that mechanic?

His ult becomes extremely useless if its not used to CC the enemy correctly, such as kicking them in the direction of allies, or away i the situation demands it.

Imagine gragas if his ult exploded directly from his body. If he couldn't get behind the enemy, he would be nigh useless without extra mobility.

Imagine gragas if his ult exploded directly from his body, and he had the ability to get behind the enemy by ward jumping, or by using his slow and walking into position, or by forgetting about these abilities and just using the ultimate root to get into position before the kick happened.

You could use your ward to know when he's about to gank to give you a head start.

Urgot ult him and watch him smash his keyboard as you force him to take 3 turretshots while he cant do shit.

What's the counterplay to any jungler with red buff ?

(Lee is op,send me the damn upvotes i'm starving over here)

DuskDaUmbreon4 votes

Depends. If they're Kindred, auto them twice to kill them (even if you're full-support Soraka). If you're someone with knockback, kick them out of your lane. If you're none of these…well…feed? :P

Milla Jovovich3 votes

Get good ?

DuskDaUmbreon4 votes

True. Can't be ganked by a jungler with red if you already took their red.

Milla Jovovich3 votes

Even better, kill the jungler and his buddy laner.

Can't be ganked if there is no one to gank you.

Marshbouy5 votes

What's the counterplay when Xin walks into your lane with red? He will auto and slow you, procing Q and getting an almost guaranteed kill on you if you aren't very careful about it. If you flash he'll just E and kill you anyways. This shit isn't exclusive to Lee sin, far from it.

Aptest3 votes

Stun him under your tower and enjoy your free buff.

Handin Out Naps3 votes

Mainly the same counter play to all ganks, warding. Also playing back when he completes 3 camps unless your jungler is waiting for him in the bush for a counter gank. So basically just using your brain.

JhamSleaz3 votes

Start treating lee sin like Eve or Shaco. Play extremely safe if he's on the other team. He's still a bs champ but you really have to respect his presence idk. Can't extend in lane if you don't know where the lee is. Pretty dumb but it's better than just farming regularly and dying to him over and over
