I finally did what I wanted to always do, play Sona mid

SnugglePuggle94··4 votes·949 views

And it was, OUTRAGEOUS! Ha Ha excuse my Taric saying there lol. Sona's Q damage is absolutely amazing, and probably would've done more on Akali but when I clicked on her I saw she had a good bit of MR built into her runes and masteries (it was around level 3 and she had 45 MR. Most people it's around 30-40). I got the first kills on her by stacking my passive on my E, then AAing her to slow, hit a Q and ignite and bam she was dead (after I had poked her a bit considerably but she stayed in with way too low health). She's quite fun to play mid if I have to say so myself. Even when Wukong dived me under turret I was able to stay alive with my heal and get a kill on him.

Don't take this as a sign to just take her mid any chance you can get. Not every mid laner she will do good against, but you can also do well against your counter if you play well.

Just thought I would put that out there. Have a good night and Go Gators! :D

you bullied possibly one of the weakest pre-6 laners in the game as a ranged? wow, what a convincing endorsement of ap sona. to be honest if you didn't dump on them I'd have been surprised.

Post-6 Akali is a majorly strong champ. With Long Sword and 3 pots she has a lot of sustain. She can still recall. Eventually she'll get 6 and can go onto Sona to burst her down.

It doesn't take long to get level 6, not like before it is the most important time in the game.

colesy3 votes

doesn't take long? 1-6 is enough time to score a kill and deny enough farm that you can start snowballing your lane. and no, she doesn't have much sustain with ls + 3 pot, she actually has to get her lifesteal and/or spellvamp first.

recall? cool, I'll shove you to tower and make you miss waves. you now lose xp and gold, I recall and get more items and don't miss any xp or gold, so you're now weaker than me.

you shouldn't dismiss the early levels, you should be playing your lane level per level and trading according to the relevant power spikes of obtaining an extra ability or the extra point you or your opponent will have in their abilities.

I stopped reading here, you clearly don't even know what Akali's abilities are. Her passive gives her spell vamp based on her AD.

silver 5 shitter is trying to tell me I don't know what akali's abilities are?

the spell vamp based on AD is almost unnoticeable, the difference between your revolver/gunblade vamp and what you have when you have just a cutlass or longsword is enormous. try actually playing her and then arguing, thanks.

Shroom Junkie2 votes

She's my main mid laner, thanks. The spell vamp from the long sword is in fact very noticable and even moreso when you upgrade to scepter/cutlass.

And seriously? You're elophanting me? LOL People told me Plats were toxic af. Guess they were right.

colesy3 votes

yeah, I've played quite a bit of akali too since I started experimented building her bruiser, and the difference between long sword or cutlass versus a revolver/gunblade of spell vamp is enormous. you get massive chunks of healing with a hextech item whereas with just the AD item it's barely noticeable.

and yeah, I lolking'd you because when you dismissed the significance of levels 1 through 5 I thought "no way can this guy be gold or higher or he wouldn't have said that" and surprise surprise you're a clueless silver, lmfao.

Shroom Junkie2 votes

Obviously the revolver/gunblade spell vamp is better. But when you start long sword 3 pots over cloth armor 5 pots or amplifying tome, you get the extra spell vamp for sustain. Doesn't mean you have to finish the scepter you can go on to the gun if you want.

And the significance of levels 1 through 5 isn't that much unless you give away like 3 kills. One kill shouldn't be much as long as you don't try to 1v1 the enemy without an advantage yourself. And if you're a good Akali you'll try to play safe and just farm until 6 or unless you get a gank or the enemy gets in a bad spot, so you shouldn't have much threat except to some poke which you can heal with pots and sustain with your spell vamp from your base AD and long sword. But of course you're platinum so you're better than me in every way, and every argument of mine is wrong if it doesn't go in your line of belief. #platlogic

no, they really do have a lot of significance. think of it like this: if sona is against akali mid, and every time akali goes to last hit a creep she Q + power chords, or just autos, the damage is going to stack up. you'll then be forced to decide between getting the cs or just giving it up. what this means is that in those early levels if you're poked down then it means that when you base you'll have little farm from the cs you had to give up which means not being able to buy much when you recall, you'll probably get shoved to tower and denied that gold and xp too. your laner will have more xp, more gold and will be able to buy more, so they'll be able to do what they were doing earlier except with more damage. then if the sona shoves you in to tower, she can just fire off her q if you get near any of her creeps (since it locks on and prioritises champions) and maybe even get an auto/power chord off which means you literally can't even get the creeps under tower.

what this means is it doesn't even matter if they didn't kill you, they denied you so hard and accumulated enough of a lead that when you hit your level 6 spike, she'll probably be able to out trade you since she'll have an item and xp advantage, and if you even get close to the middle of your lane (say, she recalls and it resets since her wave crashed against your tower and now the two waves meet back in the middle), she can set up a gank for her jungler extremely easily and it's basically a guaranteed kill since you're weak, she's strong and if they're not stupid they're carrying a pink if you can survive long enough to pop your shroud.

Wow, don't be a rude ass. Akali is a very strong champ. I just happen to be very good with Sona.

colesy4 votes

akali does absolute jack shit against ranged champions pre-6. so yes, the lane was massively in your favour. and if you're bronze 4 that means she would have been taking a ton of free harass and feeding kills and not playing accordingly instead.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

Don't bring my rank into an argument that you are losing. I've played Akali and done quite well pre-6, with my poke I can do a lot of damage before I get my ult. Just stop dude.

colesy2 votes

you'll generally do fine pre-6 as akali against melees since you can spam your q on them and if they get close you can proc it, throw another q and proc that too. against ranged, if they're not harassing you hard then it just means you're playing against bad players. for example, if I played annie in to an akali, I would be autoing you every time you went for a creep, maybe firing a Q while casting the auto and then autoing you again so that you bleed for every cs you get, so you're either forced to farm with your Q or I shove you in to tower and then harass you when you're picking up cs there.

akali does really bad against ranged laners.

I've been meaning to try Sona mid but rarely get the chance, and when I do I totally forget to do it... lol

SnugglePuggle942 votes

Yea I say try it! But see if you can put it in a right match up, like against someone that is a mage like you-Cass, Brand, Morgana, etc. It will be an easier time and if you do well maybe you can move up to going against an assassin (never go against yasuo unless you know you can wreck him). She's really fun :)

Wouldn't she counter Zed Talon? You ult them after they ult you and they can't do much.

If you're confident that you can dodge Zed's Q's and poke him down then yes the laning phase is pretty easy for Sona, and she can just ult behind herself if Zed engages (this is especially dangerous if Zed tries to towerdive her.)

She's awfully squishy so you have to warn your team if he ever roams, and watch out for getting dived 2 vs 1 as well.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

^ Took the words right out of my mouth. They both have ranged spells so you also have to be aware of that as she is like he said very squishy. Even though I was doing tons of damage, Riven 3 shotted me in a matter of seconds.

Edit: I am downvoted for this? I was being helpful. Wow, the people on here are ridiculous.

Sona mid can be really strong in certain situations. I would recommend looking up "AP Sona" who's a high elo mid Sona main.

Dat norm versus Bronze 5 to lvl 20, much data gathered, such info, much learning, wow.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

WTF, dude? Screw off, man. Not cool.

Cyrus Du Couteau2 votes

Not cool what? That I pointed out actual facts? You're encouraging trollish behaviour based on your experience playing a norm vs Bronze 5 and level 20 opponents, AKA people who haven't figured out how to right click yet.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Shut up. You are being rude calling out the rank that I'm in and saying I'm playing against bad people, that I'm "encouraging trollish behavior." I am not. If I play a non meta role and_ do well with it_, I'm not a troll. A troll is someone who breaks the meta, like Ahri APC in bot lane or Lulu jungle, and do completely awful with it, all the while not listening to the team and flaming at others. Learn the difference.

Cyrus Du Couteau2 votes

You literally played against Bronze 5s and lvl 20s, and that's what you use as anecdotal evidence for why your trollish idea should be done more often.

I can't tell if you're trolling harder or what. You're supposed to be 21 years old, grow up. You can't go on being Bronze in real life as well.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

And you reported my previous comment. How rude of you. I am not a bronze in real life so stop it.

AtheosisX2 votes

It's just that pesky lack of wave clear that keeps her from being a truly good choice mid.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

Yea that's what I hate. My csing with her was awful but when I look at how I wasn't that far behind from Akali that makes me feel better.

The thing with Sona is that you have to play perfectly to do alright, whereas that level on effort on say, LB would get you 10x more fed.

But it's still fun though, glad to see it is still a thing ^_^
