Bans did not drastically improve the quality of ARAM [WITH ACTUAL TANGIBLE SUGGESTIONS]

10 bans out of 143 champions. Roughly 7% of the champions, in a game mode where champion select is entirely random. That said, this is assuming everyone who plays ARAM has every champion, which they do not. Secondly, it assumes there aren’t ARAM a only accounts, which there are. So before I make my argument, let me make it clear that I realize bans do help somewhat, but I believe I have a better solution: make every champion in ARAM free.

Here’s the thing: bans really didn’t improve the quality of ARAM that much. Rerolls exist and people are going to roll undesirable champions. And in reality, there’s really only a small handful of champions that are must-ban, and even then that’s subjective. It’s really just popular to scream and cry about bans because they give you the illusion that you have control, but the reality is that it doesn’t change games all that much. I still played ARAM feeling incredibly frustrated at times because we lost at champion select when bans were available. 10 bans won’t remove that. To be honest, the people spamming the threads now are just trying to spam for upvotes and reinforcement, because in reality bans did nothing to improve the quality of play significantly.

Do you want to fix ARAM? Make every champion free. This takes the power out of the hands of ARAM only accounts, smurf accounts or people that only have a small pool of champions they enjoy playing. It also gives people an opportunity to try new champions, and it can only benefit your company because it may lead to people enjoying that champion, buying them and them purchasing skins for them. So it’s a win-win.

Also, balance the game better so long ranged mages and ADCs don’t auto-win. I realize you’ve tried to do that, but increase mana costs on long ranged champions in ARAM so they can’t just spam all day - make it so they have to buy mana items early and delay power spikes so the enemy has an opportunity to counterbuild. Also, make the health packets only restore health at early levels and by 5-10 minutes, allow it to return mana. The health packets sustain teams too hard when they’re ahead and don’t really do a bunch to help teams when they’re behind, and the big thing is the mana restoration that gives champions the ability to spam - think about it, the team that’s better at poking has access to 3, while you only have acces to 1. I would even go as far as suggesting removing them at early levels period, or make it something someone can buy (but only keep one in inventory at a time).

Either way, there’s lots of game structures that can be remade to make ARAM a more pleasant experience for non ranged spammers. Adding bans never fixed that, nor will it fix it. Implement real changes like making all champions available and changing aspects of the game itself, specifically tuning down sustain available to those in the map as well as innately because it really only helps sustain the poke team.

Yeah they won't make all champs free on aram for some peculiar reason. :(

P.S. Aram only accounts can actually benefit from bans by banning the free rotations they don't want to roll. Especially in 5man groups its kinda in their favour

Maybe, it’s hard to say because ARAM onky accounts are really just accounts where people play thenpoke champions they want, and that can be upwards of 50 champions. And that’s assuming people will ban all of those champions - people were banning Darius and Udyr and shit in my games and still ending up with shit like Shyvanna or Diana, so they weren’t ARAM accounts.

Isn't the reason quite clear? Here it is in (Riot) Mortdog's words: "Why not just unlock all champs - This would help for sure, but has side effects we aren't comfortable with. It's no secret that Riot does need to make money in order to continue as a business, and this would impact that quite a bit." ie: The reason is perfectly understandable: Money. Riot would lose profits to do so - Would you be willing to work & pay money so that I can have fun? ;)
