Had a Draven Tell Our Jungle He Wasn't Obligated to Leash
Nor was the Jungler obligated to gank, thereby making it even.
That's a legal statement and action in today's environment, but it really shouldn't be, and in Ranked, its ban-worthy. It lead to, obviously, the jungler throwing a tantrum and the game that would have slung me into my promos to get a FF at something like the 21 min mark.
This specific incident isn't anything in the grand scheme of things. But it's indicative of what's wrong with ranked. And an inability to solve all problems doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything. In another game I played this weekend, our ADC locked in GP, saying he had no ADCs and later revealed he didn't know how to play GP either. I, as support, took Lucian and tried to make the best of things.
Again, all legal. But it shouldn't be. And it shouldn't be because if this is legal, then logically Ranked isn't a measure of skill. These aren't isolated incidents. There's a sliding scale of stupidity on every team. The reason I highlight GP is because he was more of a troll than the other jokers. The reason I focused Draven over the Shyvana jungler was because Draven started it and, in theory, the Shyvana's meltdown wouldn't have happened until the 15 min mark when we might have had an opportunity to get a good start.
The solutions are obvious, which for you engineers out there is not synonymous with perfect. It means a step toward a solution is statistically likely to be good since there's so much room to grow. Despite those examples not being reportable (how could you really?) but they also weren't honored. So why not group people based on honor? Or combine honor and rank into something a little more tolerable. The game snowballs already, so whats the difference in putting normal folks on one side? Let those 5 idiots have a meltdown.
You're making all of these bad decisions because some poll once upon a time said queue time was too slow. But speed isn't inherently good. McDonalds is fast. But if I take a date there I'm going home alone. The problem with polling is that no one was thinking of god awful toxicity when it wasn't as much of a problem. Now every clown in America gets drafted into ranked because queue times is god. But it's not. You're not investing in your game. Cheap draftees aren't loyal, they don't care about the game, and when this ship starts to sink they aren't going to stick with you while you sort things out.
The military stopped taking criminals into it's ranks and you should, too.
tl;dr - Ranked will suffer until the following things are changed:
- Take BE, Chests, and Level gains away from Ranked.
- Group based on on Honor and rank, not just rank.
- Allow us to honor at least two teammates and one enemy.
