Duskblade of DrakTharr, OP, UP or Balanced?

Tis a nice day·2/14/2016, 2:06:44 AM·2 votes·1,395 views

Now that item 3147 is been released and presumably has had enough public testing time, what are everyone's thoughts on it so far? Any Talons, Jarvans or Hecarims destroying games yet?

Maining talon, it's a pretty nice item, but it really just enhances the ko one person theme. It doesn't suddenly allow you to 1v5, thankfully. It's pretty good though, having somebody live with like 80 health and then watching them pop.

In my personal opinion, I'd say that it is too early to tell whether the item is balanced or not. However, I will offer my thoughts on it.

In regards to its purpose, I would say that it accomplishes its goal of aiding on the assassination of a target pretty well. However, it wasn't like AD assassins had all that much difficulty is killing a squishy target - provided that they are fed, that is. The item isn't intended for slaying weak targets; it is meant for late-game scaling purposes.

A few Rioters stated that the item itself isn't meant for the slaughtering of ADCs or Mages; but rather, to help give Assassins the ability to take on Tanks or Bruisers as well. Honestly, I feel like this sort of defeats the purpose of the assassin thematic. Here is an example;

When a person thinks of an assassination, they imagine the assassin facing off against a heavily-armed unit of guards with their weak, squishy target at the center/behind that frontline. The assassin wants to kill that target and get out of there before the guards can retaliate; not sit there and fight it out. That's irrational, and will likely result in the assassin's demise. Duskblade is like giving that assassin a grenade to just throw into the armor of a guard and wait for it to blow them to bits.

All that being said, I actually enjoy the item. I may not agree with it thematically, but overall it is a decent addition to the League gameplay-wise.

Makes zed even more op. Why is it a thing?

Its a fine item. Zed's abusing it, sure, but given how everyone ELSE is doing I'd say it's not absurdly OP and its more a problem with Zed

Shaco main here.

I like Duskblade, but it's not really the best item. It's great for lategame picking off squishies if you find yourself in a tricky spot, but there's better picks for assassiny burst. Overall, I'd say it's balanced. A great item, but not exactly top tier. There's more cost efficient items for the damage it gives, and it's better lategame than it is early.

All in all, I'd prefer a trinity force over a duskblade if I were to choose between the two. Because I get a good bit of burst, a nice sliver of HP, mobility, and some mana all in one. Plus, sheen is more helpful in the early on jungle and early ganks than a BF sword or serrated. Because it's cheaper and you get mana.

Although the clone gets its own duskblade passive, which is pretty neat, I would still say that a trinity or a Hydra is better to get. The stats they provide are more helpful early, and have an easier build path that's more friendly.

Duskblade is best as a later on item as far as I'm concerned, as that's when people have more HP that you have to eat through and when you are less likely to have the time or chance to all in them without concern of the rest of the enemy team jumping on you.

The more HP they have, the more efficient the duskblade. So it's a nice lategame item, but there's a lot of items better in the early mid.

As a Riven main the damage alone is really useful, though much like I use to do with IE it's my last Item pick.
