Why Ornn is a bad champion

I personally think that the new champ: Ornn is off to a really rough start and this post explains why he gets outclassed by other tanks.

First, let's state the pros of Ornn because he still has redeeming qualities.

  • Tanky and can take alot of hits before dying
  • Can shop anywhere on the map
  • Gives teammates better late game with upgraded items
  • Good team fight presence with ult as a reliable source of damage and CC
  • Ok wave clear with his W

Now, here are the negatives.

  • Rough laning phase
  • Minimal kill pressure
  • Q+E combo is almost impossible to hit against someone who is careful
  • No mobility
  • Bad synergy with items
  • Little to no engage and disengage
  • Mediocre peel for carries compared to other tanks
  • Scalings that are all over the place

As you can see, the negatives outweigh the positives by a lot and even though every champ has a set of weaknesses, Ornn just has so many more than strengths.

I have not purchase him but I have say I figured he's not that good.

Usually when a new champ is release AI games are filled with them, almost every AI game there be someone picking ornn or trying to insta lock in. This time around it's rare. From that I drawn to the conclusion ornn was a miss.

Maybe his release was a bit too soon, meaning ppl was not ready to invest in him or riot did not invest enough into him.

Orn is only worth as support, on top lane everyone laugh about the castanimation time xD you can doge everything, his dmg is ok at the beginning after lvl 9 you never want to try all-in.

Orn = only worth for the team, afk farming and is not worth for players who likes to carry a game.

I can see some massive pros to him despite this so called "list" though. In certain teamcomps with a lot of lategame (cassio+hypercarry botlane ones being a great example), he not only gives them a ton of versatility, especially if that cassio decides to go abyssal or the botlaner can run something like triforce, but also makes their lategame almost impossible to play against. While the kit might seem underwhelming, pairing it with two pretty obnoxious passives puts it into a bit of a malzahar territory in which people will still use it for the strengths in the support role allowing it to mitigate those negatives because hey, who focuses the support in teamfights anyways.

I said it before and I'll say it again: I expect him to see niche use as a support at worlds in comps where the teams draft 3 carries and a tank either top/jungle. Outside of that specific window, he might go entirely unnoticed similar to urgot until both receive unneeded cooldown buffs.
