Having Warlord's bloodlust only functions against champions makes sense, but makes it worthless.

On PBE, Warlord's bloodlust only works against champions. This means that the crazy sustain it offers for anyone who can gets crits is gone, which was the only real reason it was good. (and broken on yasuo, trynd, and panth.)

Every other mastery effectively only functions against champions, so it's no surprise that Riot took it that direction. Still, unlike damage, lifesteal's main function is sustain against minions, not champions. Warlord's will need some compensation, either through removing the cooldown or through increasing its numbers just to see play, even on the champion's it's currently broken on.

No, it doesn't need compensation, that's fucking ridiculous. It was outright broken, nerfing it was necessary. You don't just get compensation every time you get a nerf on something, if it's being nerfed, it's too strong to begin with. Taking away power and then giving it back completely negates any impact the nerf was supposed to have on the mastery anyway.

Yes its outright broken, but changing its functionality to only against champions isn't the kind of nerf you can go half way with so to only take the right amount of power away.

Plenty of nerfs can only be done in ways too drastic to take the right amount of power away, and that means you need to add power elsewhere.

This makes it less broken in laning.

I'd agree that it's 100% necessary, but not that it needs no compensation. It's far weaker than the on-hit damage with these changes. 20% AS is nearly always weaker than 13.2 - 84.6 on-hit damage, especially considering most champions won't have enough crit to get it reliably until mid game.

I dont see why it needs compensation if its current state makes it beyond broken. It seems more fair now.

even with this change, warlords bloodlust is still op.

a 20% as steroid and 15% lifesteal against champions for marksmen vs. 10 on hit damage after 10 auto attacks/spells and 50 to 70 magic damage over 3 seconds for anyone who doesnt have single target damage over time abilities like brand or malzahar.

if they want to actually balance it against the other keystones they would have to completely remove either the lifesteal, or the attack speed component.

The lifesteal is only once every 2 seconds, and neither of them are guaranteed until you have 100% crit. Comparing it to 10 on hit damage is ridiculous, for one because at level 1 it's over 13 on hit damage, just rounded down to 1 per stack in the tooltip, and secondly because you won't be at 10 on-hit damage when you have enough crit for the mastery to be noticeable.

Anyone that gets Warlords is getting over 150% bonus attack speed, so 20% more is less than an 8% increase in damage. 80 on-hit damage is a greater % increase than that until 1k damage an auto. Sure, they won't always have as much AS or as much on-hit as with furor, but they always wont have enough crit either. Furor will always be a larger DPS increase.

50 magic damage over 3 seconds takes 225 AP. Any spell is getting a greater than a 8% damage increase due to it.

100% crit is entirely possible for every marksman in the game, and you still get 20% attack speed off of it, which lasts 4 seconds, so you can basically have a constant free 40% attack speed as long as you mindlessly right click somebody into oblivion

The AS doesn't stack, it's only 20%.

Where does it say that? It doesn't say anywhere on the mastery that it doesn't stack

MealReadytoEat1 votes

It doesn't say anywhere on any buffs or debuffs that they don't stack, although some specifically mention that they do.

Just check it out in game.

Becomes some buffs stacking is obviously broken, but with the nerf to it, I can't see this buff stacking being broken

Let's see how true this is. Veigar Q, 230+0.6 AP, 225 AP equals 365. 50/365=13.6%

But Veigs Q is aoe, so halve that. Less than 8%.

Most poke spells, Lux Q-E, Ziggs Q, Ahri Q, get less of a % damage boost than that with it. Brand is pretty much the only champion that 'actually' gets that kind of damage boost from Deathfire, full stop.

Most all-in Rotations only proc the Deathfire once, or a little more than once, because the duration doesn't stack, it only refreshes. Can you show me the not-brand champion that gets more than 8% of a damage boost from it?

TL;DR: Warlords still gives more of a DPS boost than Deathfire, AND provides heals.

On live, Warlord's Bloodlust grants 3 things that are unique to it over other options (and crowd other options out):

  1. 15% lifesteal on crits
  2. 20% attack speed for 4 seconds
  3. Works on non champions

One AND ONLY ONE of these traits needs to be nerfed/removed to make this mastery balanced. I would honestly prefer the attack speed to be nerfed or removed, but we can't always get what we want.

MealReadytoEat2 votes

Indeed. I think the removal of 3 alone is enough to make it underpowered, and its not like that's something they can go half-way with so as to take just the right amount of power off.
