Statistical comparison of AD champs/itemization vs AP champs/itemization.
Okay, I'm trying to be open and unbiased in this study. So if there is anything off let me know as I'm not that familiar with AD itemization.
Method:
I compared all champs based on their role and the items available to them. For example, sustain melee damage would include champs like
vs
and the items available. Sustain ranged damage would compare
vs
.
I broke it down into 5 primary roles._ Sustain melee damage, sustain ranged damage, burst damage, tanks and supports._ In the summary, I will explain what I found from looking at the data
Summary
When it came to Sustain melee damage, 37 AD champs had a wide variety of dedicated items to choose from. Fighters had a lot of health/AD option. On the contrast, 6 AP fighters had a generic pool of items that they shared among all ap champs with a few exceptions like. This seems fair as there aren't many AP fighters compared.
When it came to sustain range damage, 20 ADCs had an entire line of dedicated crit/attack speed/attack damage items available. 14 APCs champs shared the same generic items as AP fighters with 1 exception
. The pool of sustain range damage champs are 20 ADCs vs 14 APC, yet ADCs have a full line of dedicated items, but APCs don't.
When it came to Burst damage, there were only 6 AD assassins who had 3-5 dedicated lethality/armor pen items.
There were 34 AP assassin/burst champs shared the same generic pool of items as AP fighters and APCs with only 3 dedicated
and 4 exceptions
.
When it came to tanks they were mostly AP and had generic health/armor/magic resist that all fighters sometime also used.
When it came to supports, they also had a dedicated line of items that tended to be geared to more supporting the ADC.
In conclusion, there are almost the same number of AD champs as there are AP. 37 AD fighters, 20 adc, 6 assassin vs 6 AP fighters, 14 APCs , 34 Burst AP champs. Yet AD champs have a lot more dedicated itemization while all AP champs from fighters, to APCs to burst, all use the same generic items.
