What am I supposed to do on Yi when grievous thornmail goes live?

Do I have to fucking build like this if I expect a thornmail in my game? How do I fit in crit/pen?

Don't prioritize the enemy with Thornmail.

Well Yi can still kill a tank or jug 1v1. In a teamfight Yi will fail if he is just beating on a tank and the grievous wounds is only forced for melee if you play vs Shen Galio Rammus

Yi doesn't get to choose his target though. He's a reset champion. He has to attack the lowest health target on the front-line to get a reset and jump to the backline. Sometimes this is a tank.

Thornmail did nothing vs yi to begin with, because atandart yi build was bork, bloodrazor, gunsoo, all true dmg.

Only bonus portion of his E is true damage. And lifesteal doesnt work on true damage.

It's going to be rough on Yi players. I think the best solution is to play the fights like an assassin. Wait until the fight begins before flanking and killing the back line. Even a tank with this new version of thornmail won't be able to deal with Yi. It looks like we won't be able to fight the tanks as much as before though, which is why I think flanking will be an easier option while the support peels the tank off the carries.

Even after the update, Yi could still probably kill a tank within seconds anyways without touching pen so meh.

wouldnt that build only increase the gold value/effectiveness of their grievous wounds? if your really were dead set on it maybe GA or steraks? i dno =P
