Dear Riot, I am a vet player and I find LoL very difficult to play due to dying too quickly

AquariusGine··76 votes·17,964 views

Isn't it ironic, that I've been playing since season 3 and suddenly the games feels so unplayable? It feels that the knowledge I've accumulated from playing over the years mean nothing. All the hours I put into studying this game was for nothing. I simply die too fast/ can't react fast enough & things get out of control so quickly I can't keep up.

None of us enjoy it, but there's nothing more we can do, Riot has stopped listening, etc.

Riot has stopped listening, etc.

They kinda listen, but they answer a problem with another problem.

Not just stopped listening, it feels like they go the opposite of whatever we say or would say out of spite. If common sense said go west, they'd take a train to the east coast before backtracking.

Same. Been playing since season 1, and my knowledge in the strategy this game once had is useless now.

Spacesuit Spiff6 votes

This. Used to be I'd read essay after essay about ward placement and bush control and lane matchups and a million other things. Totally useless now that it's a game of monkeys oneshotting each other.

Probably won't be another big moba for a while. Battle royale is apparently all the rage right now. And it is usually pretty hard for new games to gain traction in a space where there is already a dominant player: Ex. FPS: CoD MMO: WoW BR: Fortnite (and PUBG) MOBA: League (and Dota)

I would still enjoy a new Moba though since Rito seems intent on killing their own game.

I'd suggest Smite. The community's small (compared to LoL) and I've found much less toxicity there. I came back to league when I heard about Nexus Blitz, and have been playing it for a good while.

But it's gone now. I decide to play some ARAM, and now the 'reroll pool' is gone too.

Christ.

CithriaC1 votes

The Aram pool being missing is a bug, though I am pretty sure it is back because the "!" doesn't show it as a problem anymore.

I honestly just want Riot to dial back on the changes and make it more balanced like how the end of S5 was.. And if they make changes that they make them the way they did it in preseason S5. The updated map, the updated jungle etc made me love the game back then. The s7 plants did nothing but just make me wanna quit playing more.

didnt you get the memo ? all about LCS BIG PLAYS WORLDS and $$$ they stopped caring once they sold out to tencent and have 0 saying in how the game develops , if you want to complain , cry to tencent about things oh wait they give 0 shits as long as mongoloids buy skins ad anfinitum.

I mean thats what happens to a PvP game when damage makes fights go from feeling like PvP to PvE.

If I wanted to feel that, I'd go play an MMO...

I think they just don't concider tactical players as their main audience, and shift ballance instead for hyperactive teenagers with good reaction, where most fights is about who will press the button first, especially between late game mages and adk. Boring, sad, but it's the reality(

Wow, I have been trying to say this, but you described it better than I ever could.

Playing single s2 and I feel the same.

I've been playing since Season 1, so I know where you're coming from. ARAM is what I've been sticking to since it was released for multiple reasons, and while I don't really feel like I can't "keep up," there has been a clear problem with the direction the game has been going for the last few years. In an effort to pick up new players, they've been trying to cater to their more short-lived attention spans and fickle nature by drastically reducing game length and making the game flashier to watch. So we end up with too much damage, too much mobility, towers that are too weak because they directly impede progress to victory, and shorter games.

I want my 45 minute games back. The helm has been passed around so many times that I don't think it's going to happen. At this point, it's either get used to 25 minute games or find something else to play. Fortunately for me, I have more than just League to play.

Unfortunately for me I'm on another break from Skyrim, the only other video game that holds my attention for months.

I find I have the opposite problem. Too many games to play so I default to old favorites. Ah, well.

It's not even that you don't react fast enough, it's being 1 shot from an auto attack from a stealth champ Rengar

Drugoth2 votes

I know exactly how you feel. I've been playing a lot of Battlerite recently, and the fighting in that game just feels better all around. Sure, all the champions cooldowns and damage are pretty much the same, but that's to balance things out. Also the fact that every single ability in the game is a skillshot makes the skill ceiling relatively the same for everyone.

In Battlerite you can more often pull off clutch 1v2 turnarounds and if you get bursted in seconds it means you blew all your escapes and the enemy team capitalized. It never feels unfair when you die in Battlerite.

I mean, if you've been playing since S3, you should be used to dying even faster. Rengar, Ahri, Fizz, and Leblanc, most assassins killed significantly faster than they do now.

A strat I have employed for all seasons has been to play safe if you are getting behind and soon an opportunity to comeback will appear, it worked all the time and was a simple way to climb

Now that strat is dead in the water because the game tips too far to one side after 5 minutes and that comeback opportunity never appears

He's a vet period. Anyone who's been on this ride for at least 4+ years can be considered one.

Ahris2 votes

That is what happens when Riot removes ALL BUT ONE of the champ's identity and FOCUS on ONLY THAT ONE ASPECT.

Meaning, if the champ cannot burst, then the champ is just useless. At least, before, if champs could not completely 1v1 burst with their kit, they offered great amount of AOE damage that spread, which meant that, champs will be bursted slower overall.

This entire thing changed when Riot destroyed many champ's identity and made them just mostly single target burst champs. That is why, you dont see much AOE damaging champs nowadays.

floo2 votes

Yea this season is way more about damage than strategy. I guess the only things you can do is adapt, increase your skills of reaction and hope for Riot to change things soon :(

The game has changed so much, its not the same anymore. I went from Plat to Silver this time with my placements, I dont recognize this gameplay anymore.

Nea1041 votes

Of course it is. But, it's September... Where have you been the last 9 months? :P

Definitely a hard game these days but I love it

There's far less counterplay. It's a fact. I'm all for flashy plays, if you take the "flashy" out of it.

this and i main a class that is supposed to be hard to kill while doing dps and i refuse to build item 3748 which all the damage comes from the passive base damage and item 3078 where all the value of the item comes in the sheen proc and the other stuff are just add ons for how dam expensive it is. I want strong offensive and defensive items so that my SKILLS feel impactful not i spamed everything to get auto resets for item 3748 and sheen procs from item 3078

item 3156 had a passive that synergised with fighters playstyle item 3124 also had a passive that synergised with fighters play style but appearently they didnt have enough items for adc or just wanted to bring phantom hit back for their up coming adcs

Actually, in the similar games like Dota 2, you die much more times, and revive for a longer time.

16bitDeath1 votes

i'mma not read anything but the title and say you're just positioning badly

Been playing this game since Season 2. And yah, I'm also burnt out of playing this game. This "pick this guy that can one shot someone with one button" meta needs to go or else Riot will lose players. I'm not even remotely having fun whenever I play League. Whenever I wanna play League, I just think to myself, "Why don't I just play Black Ops 3? At least the only real enemy I have is the RNG of the loot boxes."

Dr Dog1 votes

ya im just quitting all togeather if ahri isnt nerfed next patch tbh

hi ìm groot1 votes

Yup, im someone who plays alot of different accounts and this season they're all over the place in elos. You just cant really carry against people who can kill u with a few keystrokes, you gotta have teammates be worth a damn to draw some attention from you or win the fight after everything is blown to pick you. And thus ranked games are just a dice roll.

Shit's not worth playin for anything more than mild entertainment and maybe keepin skills up for next season if its worth a shit.

The game is becoming extremely focused on the 5v5 aspect of the game. They are designing the game around the team fight. You could solo carry back in the day, but those days are long dead. I think the sheer amount of damage in the game has to do with the fact that you need to fight as a team to negate it.

I don't play SoloQ anymore for this reason, because it's so ridiculously hard to coordinate as a team and it's just not fun (toxicity and tilting is worse than ever I believe)

Heos001 votes

Extremely focused on the 5v5 around teamfight... and teamfights ends in 2 seconds LMAO op riot

I suggest going to see a doctor. You won't die so fast if you have medication to help you out. Good luck, friend. (: [slayer-jinx-wink]
