Saying BOT can confuse some because they think it is similar to how you call TOP of MID (call by lane), but bot lane unlike top or mid has 2 players, the support and the ADC. So why not call it ADC instead of BOT? This maybe is a more traditional view from when there was no "auto-role selecting process" like now and "first call first get" was the standard, but it did make things very clear.

JavelinJoe1 votesNormally I would agree with you, but Mord has not seen a lot of bot lane play in some time since he no longer needs a duo for part of his kit to even work. And also, what about supports who don't support and go as an APC? Is calling it Support discrimination against them too? I am not against renaming the role if it seems needed, but "bottom lane" (where the role "BOT" is named after) has 2 roles.

eufleuria1 votesWhy? Maybe someone wants to play something off meta that isnt considered an "adc" into that position. Top / Mid / Bot I dont see anything wrong with it. Thats like saying only tanks go into top lane so we should change the role to "tank", assuming only tanks go to top lane when we know there are people who take non-tanky champs into that lane.
JavelinJoe2 votesTOP and MID are called those because that is the lane the player wants to go to and they are almost 100% always SOLO LANES in every region, in every skill range. BOT means bot lane, except bot lane has 2 roles Support and ADC. So why call it BOT when it clearly is ADC? TOP and MID do not stand for the current meta popular champion type. They stand for the lane. Bot does not work because of the 2 roles.
How Riot says it is: TOP = Top lane MID = Mid lane BOT = BOT
How everyone else knows it as: TOP = Top lane MID = Mid lane BOT = ADC
