Hail of Blades's problem.
Pros: -It's on the Domination tree instead of Precision, which means you can get 2-5 more AD than you would if you took Press the Attack and the D/S trees as a secondary. -Some champions such as Rek'Sai, Kindred and Vayne have kits that allow a quick succession of three auto attacks contribute to more damage. Even Darius could use it to proc his passive very, very quickly with a nice Q E A A A W R. But the bleed would keep him from using it consistently.
Cons: -The pros are really, really weak. -Press the Attack exists, and -Lethal Tempo exists. -Hail of Blades doesn't do damage of its own. Think about it. The Keystone on the DOMINATION tree deals no extra damage. The Keystone from the tree that's designed for "Burst damage" applies no additional damage of its own, whilst Press the Attack does. And if it's the attack speed that's good about it, then Lethal Tempo surpasses it at level 9!
As of now, Hail of Blades feels like it would be better as a secondary rune, alongside Taste of Blood or Sudden Impact. But I just got a couple ideas to change it up.
Option 1: -Remove the initial damage proc from Press the Attack, and put it on Hail of Blades, instead. Let any spell or attack proc Press the Attack to make that a sustain rune anyone can enjoy, from ADC's, to Mages, to Tanks, to Supports. -Give each of the initial 3 autos for Hail of Blades a small amount of bonus damage that scales off Bonus AD and AP, so it can actually have damage.
Option 2: -Just the second part of option 1.
Finally has a keystone. I feel happy.
