People ignoring their role; Why this was destined to happen and why it's bad to support it

While it's true that most people have one or two main roles... even in those scenarios if you are able to counter pick the enemy team with a tertiary role, it is almost always preferable to do so. In a ranked environment you want to stack the deck as hard as possible in your favor rather than squabble over petty nonsense like "UR THING SAYS MID/SUPP WHY U GOING TOP WTF REPORTED".

Not only is this predictable, it was impossible to avoid/destined to happen. Even if this is not specifically the case in all instances, in other instances you might want to synergize with what someone else picked, for example a person might select Alistar and someone that had Top/Jung might say "Hey that would go well with my Kallista" which will then infuriate the guy that had "ADC" as his primary selected role.

My point is; The system was doomed to fail, gg.

I mean, this kind of thing always happened in draft. People pick a role you wanted or intended to play, and then just locked it. You were forced to either play around that by filling or dodge/play duo top or something weird.

Riot's rule still stands, pick order over call order. If first your pick sees the enemy pick Riven top and they know how to counter her even though they were jungle, it's at their discretion to change. Sure, it's not exactly fair that you got shafted out of your role, but it is a team game after all, and you can't report someone for trying to win.

Being able to pick what you want doesn't doom it to fail, but I do think it should be more clear that the role you get isn't supposed to be locked in stone. People should not treat this new system as team builder, because it's not. It's draft that adds intent to pick, but there's always the possibility that you may have to switch roles, just like in any other queue.

My understanding is that riot was going to crack down on those who break the honor system. To say pick order over this, would be no different ordinary draft. Completely breaking down what this queue was suppose to accomplish. (except for longer wait time for high demand roles.)

As for your statement on Counter picking. I'd only be Okay with that if their intent is to trade it later. But that doesn't work entirely in YoloQ as not everyone has Every champ unlocked.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly my point/what I said.

Basically; primary and secondary are suggested roles, you will not always get what you want (As always).

Actually, that rule doesn't stand anymore. You're expected to take the role you queued up for, and if you take someone else's role without their permission it's reportable.

Edit Source 1 (in reference to blind pick):

No bans, everyone picks at once (like live), but with positions "assigned" based on your lobby preference. If you were assigned support and you really wanted to play Trundle support, that's cool. If you get assigned support, but you wanted jungle so you pick Trundle to go jungle and ruin your ACTUAL jungle's day, not cool - that's trolling.

Edit Source 2 (part of a larger post):

When you get into game, you will be given your position, and you're expected to play it because you chose it (or at least, it was one of your choices).

Should be a reportable pre-game lobby offense. If, and only if, you can queue up with one role. So that way we KNOW you're getting what you want. And, to change the result of your queue-up would be, clearly, a violation of etiquette worthy of a pre-game report.
