How do you approach fizz as Ahri?

I have been playing ahri more and more frequently but fizz has always been one of those matchups where im like "ffs im helpless" Chum the waters has such a huge hit box i literally have to ult away to avoid or to avoid the after effect, and sometimes he will just dive anyway. Cant ever land a damn charm on him ever because they implemented trickster for that fun gameplay!!1!!11111! Literally the only reliable damage i can seem to get off is fox fire but by then i already got 100-0d

I used to REALLY hate that matchup in the past too (were even banning him every single game), but now I think it's not that bad. It's a melee vs ranged matchup, so you have the range advantage, and you need to make sure you keep it. Pre 6 you have to keep your distance just enough so he can't just Q or E on top of you; if he then tries to walk towards you, you throw your Q and run away. Free harass, and if he's poked low enough he can't risk to All-In you. Also absolutely nothing wrong with dodging his Ult with yours. If he uses it, don't hesitate to ult; if it hits you are dead, so don't be too careful with your ult - but don't just run away! You have still 2 charges left, while he used his. So if possible thats the exactly right moment to attack him yourself, especially when he used some of his other cooldowns in order to get to you.

If you don't have your ult - stay far away from him and play super-safe. He got 2 Gapclosers on his basic abilities, so respect that. And yeah, never use your E if he hasn't used his. It's a game of chicken, whoever uses his E first probably loses.

Basically, play safe in Lane but watch his cooldowns and punish him when possible. For example, when uses his E on the Wave, thats the moment you can strike. Fizz is also really snowbally, so denying him kills and just going even in Lane/looking for Roam-Plays is completely fine as Ahri.

Number one, you'd have to rush abyssal. Fizz rushes this every game pretty much, and he'll for sure do it against you, which means you have to get it as well, or you're trades will suffer, a lot.

Number two, you'd have to use your ult to dodge his, even if the hitbox is total bullshit. If you get hit by his ultimate, you'll probably die.

Number Three, you can't charm until he E's, otherwise it's a free dodge. If he never does it, just turn it into a farm lane and outscale him.

The hitbox is solid but people still don't know how it works. The latch on range stays the same size as the fish while traveling BUT when it lands the latch range increases atleast by double and further increases based on how far the fish traveled. If you just remember to avoid where you know/think/predict he's going to throw it to then the ult remains easy to dodge.

I would also say keep an eye for him roaming. If he can't get an advantage in lane, they usually try to roam bot to pick up the kills or off the jungler, so always keep an eye on your map and try to be on top of him. I usually get a Null Cloak on the first back and finish into an abyssal later after Morello's. You can try baiting the troll pole by moving a bit forward and you might be able to get a charm in when he drops.

Ahri...beats fizz though? Pre-6 you just Harass the shit out of him with AA's and he can't farm or do shit. Once he hits you do the same, and just watch for his R.

9/10 times you should be fine, if you play decently.

I feel like Ahri does pretty well against Fizz...

First, you've got a huge advantage in the early levels - abuse it. Auto him whenever you have the chance (i.e. don't need to do a last hit and he doesn't have a lot of minions to trade back for him). Q him frequently. Heck, Q him when he's on trickster so you get the MS to avoid his damage and then the return Q true damage still hits him.

NEVER use your charm before he uses trickster. If he doesn't use trickster, you just traded his low cooldown strong ability for your high cooldown hard-to-land ability for the entirety of laning phase - pretty good right?

If he ults, ult in retaliation, Your ult has a 10sec longer cooldown so be aware of that, but really it doesn't come to much. When your ult is almost up, just back up a little because his is up.

He can roam more safely than you, but I feel like Ahri is better at ganking a lane. Unless Fizz has his ult he really can't do anything on a roam aside from damage. A simple ping to back up should be enough. Place a control ward deep in bot-river, and when he roams bot you roam top. Don't follow because he'll 1v1 you, but go the other way and you'll probably be more successful than him. That, or just push tower mid. Either way, you'll eventually outscale him if he doesn't get kills. Fizz needs to get ahead or he loses really.

pre 6: aa the crap out of him and make him useless post 6: if u failed to turn ur opponenet useless, just waveclear mid and 2 options:

if fizz uses troll poll to waveclear, u might as well as go for an all-in for a solokill if ur cooldown permits
or even better, join ur jungler for a 4-man gangbang at bot lane

and there's nothing wrong with using ur ult to dodge fizz's ult. Just make sure u are positioned to be able to use 2nd&3rd ult charge offensively, u will probably win a 1vs1 against an ultless fizz

If you are good with landing your charm, then just wait till he jumps and charm him after he lands. Early game, remember that he needs to auto-attack most minions to get gold - time your shots around your minions health.
If you are bad with skillshots, work the lane. Fizz is not good at clearing waves, build MR/Sustain and just push the lane. Remember pushing too far can get you ganked.
Consider starting with Magic Resist items/runes.
Play very safe if you are scared of Fizz - save your ultimate for defensive use - or take exhaust for when he tries to all-in you.
