AFK'ers in ranked & LP

Can a red plz explain to me why if a team has an AFKer... 2 even, that I or anybody should lose large amounts of points? or any? It just seems a little unfair that I lose 19 points with 2 ppl afk at 9 mins in an even game because someone had a job to attend to. This person isnt someone i knew so its not like im saying oh if sm1 afks then no1 should lose points cuz then every1 in a duo Q would dodge for ther friend. But for heavens sake if you mark their name RED at the end of the game, the system clearly knows they were afk which means you should be able to trigger something to not punish the remaining players by taking away hard earned LP.
