Excited for new rune/mastery system, But concerned about balance of champions

i am VERY excited for the new runes and masteries.. but i know all too well what happens when riot changes one and ignores a champion that uses it..

the example i am using hit me very close to home and that was the complete and utter, and yet entirely indirect gutting of nidalee in patch 6.22 Although Nidalee did receive a minor (and near negligible) nerfs the patch right beofe the preason (6.21).. the preseason change of the removal of "strength of the ages" is what dropped her winrate by 8%.

every nidalee that had been running thunderlords prior to pre-season had an 8% lower winrate than those who ran strength of ages.. so when EVERY nidalee was suddenly forced to run thunderlords her winrate dropped by 8%.. this is a obviously and and predictable change and i told riot about OVER A MONTH before the strength of ages was removed... and yet nothing was done.

i am using this as an example because when the runes and masteries are changed.. there isn't going to BE an "easy" and "obvious" change in winrate like there was for nidalee. in pre-season 7. champions that receive a nerf or buff from these changes are going to have no point of reference, as you can't simply remove runes and masteries before hand to get that data

so PLEASE spend the time to test EVERY champion. and PLEASE consult the experts of each champions.

last pre-season change with the removal of strength of ages was done very poorly even with a blatantly obvious "tell" of how it would gut nidalee and other nidalee player besides myself also pointed this out to riot.

PLEASE listen to player during the re-work of the rune and mastery system.. if there IS a "tell" its not going to be as easy or as obvious what happened to nid.. and considering that was missed, i hope you spend a LOT more time looking into how these changes are going to affect each champsion..

i do NOT think you have the man power to test EVERY single champion and i highly doubt each tester will have the mastery of every champion that is needed to test this.. so PLEASE consult your playerbase..

put this on PBE a good 1-2 months before hand to test BALANCE and not just bugs.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir when i say this, but this is a HUGE overhaul that is MASSIVELY going to affect balance, so PLEASE consult the players on how their champion will be affected.

no matter how good your balance team is... you're not going to know each champion like the players who have played them 1000+ times.

yeah well.. it took riot 6 months to sort out the nidalee change. and that was only ONE champion that got affected by the change.

how long do u think its going to be to sort this stuff out if they mess up say.. like 30?

i would rather them spent the time to sort out balance on PBE than sort out balance on the live servers...

6 months = eventually

lol u just proved my argument

they still havent sorted any nidalee changes out.............took them a year to try and fix her jungle while absolutely destroying her lanning lol

some champions are going to become dog shit and others are going to become op and they probably wont fix every single problem

by "sort out" i meant sort out at ONE change... which was the removal of strength of ages..

do they have a lot MORE to sort out with her.. yes... but at least she is viable enough for me to pick her in ranked... and i say that with 1000+ games on her... because before the change to item 3102 even with that many games she wasn't viable enough to pick in ranked. (i mean yeah i could get a 50% win rate... but for 1000+ games and 38th most nidalee mastery in NA... i kinda expect a bit higher...)

my point is she is VIABLE.. she isn't GOOD and i wouldn't recommend picking her up in her current state .. but she IS viable if you have already mastered her like i have

i disagree with her being viable atleast top lane. Can you play her ? yea but your chance of winning against anyone who is at the same skill level as you or higher is almost 0

i literally cannot argue with that.... thats 100% true... although i play her jungle where she is still more viable than she top... but yeah.. the ONLY reason i can play her is that i am one of the best nidalee's in North America.... (38th last time i check). if you go by the combined mastery of both my accounts.

but discussing nid's currently state really wasn't the point of this thread. (believe me i make plenty of THOSE threads.. you wont have to look far if u search my post history XD)

this thread was about the fact that nid's was indirectly as apprently unintentionally gutted. buy a change that should have been blantantly obvious to predict and one that myself among other even went out of their way to POINT OUT to riot a good month before the change happened.

my point was when they re-do the whole rune system, the changes will not only be MUCH harder to predict, because they won't have an "easy tell".

riot is almost likely not going to get warning a month before hand about what is going to happen. (not that they did anything with that data last time).

my point was if they can miss an OBVIOUS nerf that was not only clear and predicable and have a point of reference of how that was already like.. AND had a month warning before hand that is was going to happen...

how are they going to having NOT having that data... (again probably the same as they did with nidalee, because they acted as if like they didn't have with her)

so that makes me worried about balance... because it isn't just 1 or 2 champs on the line... its EVERY CHAMPION

I'm worried that they're gonna release a bunch of sweet, new fun features that overbloat a bunch of the usually-overbloated champs. Graves Leblanc LeeSin Fizz

Then, they're gonna nerf them all, strip them of what made them good or viable, and turn them into a bunch of accessories; pretty much like mastery, where TLD is basically the only Keystone really worth going out of your way for, save for some picks that can't proc it reliably.
