Can something please be done about normal matchmaking??

BEFORE anyone comments, YES I KNOW ranked and normal MMRs are completely separate. That doesn't mean they should be though, nor does it mean that normal matchmaking should be ignored so long. If ranked is for try-harding, normals should be for some level of fun. It is not fun to get stomped by your lane opponent every game (unless you get a lot of jungle help) just because you're severely outranked.

I'm just getting tired of this. I'm Gold 5. About 75% of my last 30 normal games have had diamond ranked players in them (often 2 or 3). The rest have 5+ plat players.

My last 6 games in a row have had a diamond player on the enemy team and none on my team. 5 of those 6 the enemy diamond player was MY lane opponent.

It's hard to play normal games for fun when you literally have to sit back and farm under tower every lane (and sometimes still die and feed) because your opponents outclass you so heavily.

I get that it's the end of the season so people who have their borders probably are done with ranked, hence more high rank players in normal matches. Come on though. It's soo easy to fix the balancing. First: make people's normal MMR have a floor of their ranked MMR minus some constant. Second: if you can't find all high ranked people for a game, at least put people of similar ranks against eachother. There are obviously enough low diamonds and high plats playing normals in my position, because I'm playing AGAINST one every game. Without fail.

I have to play my main champions EVERY game in normals because I'll 100% outright feed if I don't. So where can I ever practice a new champion? Even with my mains I lose lane hard frequently because of this matchmaking. And my champion pool is pretty small right now, so I'd like to pick up some new ones but am just horrified that I'll be banned for going 1/12/1 or 0/25/3 for like 10 games in a row...

You have not experienced what normal matchmaking is like until you've been matched with lvl 30 through Challenger (I've had three master-challenger in the last two days) as a Plat player. And had total fun with it.

An occasional Silver or below results in a laid back stomp, Plats and Diamonds make it competitive and usually go onto long tense games, and the Master+ games are the best. My normal mmr is in the top 2%, so when I get to play against others in there, you get into flashy hella fancy games of skill that either boost your confidence by winning or leave you sat back in awe because you saw something new.

It's all about perspective, if you want your normals to be fun you can make your normals fun, no matter who on the ladder is on your team.

I can understand why that would be fun to some people. I also don't mind most of the time if my team falls behind - as long as the fed guy can't one shot me, i can still enjoy playing the game.

I do NOT find it fun to consistently be against players with rank two full tiers or more ahead of me in laning phase, being forced to play under my tower for 20 min every game. Sure, I'm learning how to Lane from behind, but after 2 or 3 games it just ruins the fun.

I don't feel like I'm actually playing league of legends anymore. It's not the same game when your Lane ends 3 teemos from your outer turret. You can't choose to have fun if your opponent is capable of solo killing you whenever he feels like, and he decides to whenever he gets the chance. Sure - games are fun when the dude is chill and realizes how out ranked you are and gives you some leeway, but that hasn't happened for me. They all play to win, and even if i still win 50% by just not dying and letting my team carry (and paying a good late game) it's not fun to spend the entire laning phase never even trying to make a play because I'm dead as soon as i leave my tower. It's awful to know i can never even try a new champion in normals without feeding terribly.

I don't know what my normal mmr is. I've been matched against people with 1000-2000 wins consistently despite being around 400 myself (and have been against such people since around 200 wins). I don't care if it's pretty high though - there's no way it's a diamond level.
