Changing the game around the 0.1% of the community (LC$) doesn't feel OK...

JohnnyNeverSins··32 votes·9,860 views

Idk..yes they make money through the LC$ but changing the game around it? Nah.... They make enough money from skins and other things...it feels shit when they nerf a champion with shit play rate shit win rate just because it gets banned a lot and picked a lot at the LC$... It feel shit when every season they change Ryze because "Difference between Pro play and Normal is tremendous" well stop fucking changing him around LC$ maybe? We are the people that made you a thing, Us,the millions, not the 2000 that participate at the freaking LC$.

Edit: at least they've grown some balls and "admit" at the patch notes that they nerf a champion purely because of pro play

It's almost like the game is balanced around us for a majority of the year, and these changes happen solely around this time for the sake of worlds.

Have you been here the past 2 years?

ModAcademy Kayn11 votes

I have, which is why I know that for most the year, the game resolves much more around us, than for competitive. I'm more than aware some things bleed through, such as the nerfing of Shen, but those are individual changes, while the rest of the patch is still primarily targeted at Casual/Non-LCS play.

Hell, the reason we notice that the game is being balance around LCS, is because it is balanced for us the rest of the year. No one is complaining in December that they're balancing around LCS. Now, do you have a real argument to make, or ya gonna stick with that "you're just being blind" proxy?

zac has been below 50% winrate like ever since his rework. especially when scuttle crab came in his winrate went to 44% or so

Azir is for people who just want to fight minions all day.

oh look an Azir main thinking that Azir was balanced in regular omegaLUL

if you thought it was ok for the 1% Azir mains to stomp everyone than Yea he was balanced for sure m8

It's great to see you talking nonsense.

You might wanna look at this: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-plus/6QEXyBIZ-lets-talk-azir-why-his-kit-is-a-problem-and-how-a-possible-fix-could-look-like

Especially who wrote this. Never have I said that Azir didn't deserve the nerfs, I always said that he didn't deserve being kept in the dirt for years. This is not the topic here though, so you can keep your imagination to yourself.

Yet at the same time the boards wants Riot to balance for Diamond+, which is the top 2% of all ranked players. If you really wanted the game to be balanced for the majority of the community you need to balance for Bronze, Silver and Gold, but you'd get downvoted to oblivion for saying that here because "Riot shouldn't balance for bad players". Well turns out that like 90% of the community is gold or below, and if we take unranked players into account it's more like 99,9999...% of the community (in 2017 only 25% of players on EUW played ranked, for instance).

Divisions and pro play are two different things, have you ever watched the worlds? Nothing is the same.

Yet those same players in worlds are in the top divisions in solo q 🤔. You balance around the pros because they can curb stomp anyone in solo q. You also don’t take in the other regions around the world. I’m pretty sure Korea, China, and Vietnam are ok with balance around the pros.

So what you WOULD like is for the game to NOT be balanced for the people who actually put in the effort to CLIMB in rank?

LC$ is organized play. It's nothing like solo queue even at the highest level.

Pretty sure that in Masters/Challenger they play more like in tournaments then like in Bronze/Low Silver. Wasn't it like 1 or 2 years ago that the highest Challenger in NA or EU (not sure which) was an Oriana main with the most boring gameplay ever? (so just what ppl accuse the lcs of being)

Idk why it's so hard to grasp that playing with coms and without makes for a massive difference in gameplay.

So? It doesn't matter if it's organized or not. Why should the game be completely unbalanced for them because 6 champions are allowed to be 60%+ winrate just so that Bronze through Gold can play them?

MysticFlow1 votes

because you can ban those champions.. ??????? what am I missing [zombie-brand-facepalm]

if you don't want enemy to play them, ban them

Then it would become s5 again

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Okay...How many people are on a team? How many champions would be OP? How many bans does a team get?

If you did your math correctly, it should be 5, 6+, and 5. This means blue side can always get one or more of these OP champions, and red side cannot stop it.

Besides, using that logic, Yi and most assassins should be allowed to be 60% winrate here, because we can just ban them. Riot could say "Just ban Yi, Zed, Talon, Katarina, LeBlanc, Fizz, Akali, Rengar, and Kha'Zix every game, so we can keep them viable in high tier", but that'd be shitty for us, and would make it impossible to ban personal counters.

Do you see why that's a problem, now?

MysticFlow1 votes

like I see what ur saying, but if lets say there are 5 Op champions, and each team starts with 3 bans, then as long as red doesn't ban any of them, blue would ban 3 of them, and they get first pick, then red gets 1/5 of those OP champs, each team gets one. + there are counters

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Okay. So red bans none. Blue gets one, red gets one, assuming 3 are banned by blue.

But what if blue also bans none of them? Blue gets one, red gets two, then blue gets two more. It's 3 and 2 now, and blue has a significant statistical advantage right off the start. Those five are stuck with just those five champions pretty much forever (unless both teams ban them all), while the other 5 get to feel useless because statistically they won't be as relevant.

MysticFlow1 votes

but red team gets the last ban, so if blue doesn't ban any, it's now reds turn, they ban an OP, leaving 4 op

blue picks first OP, red team picks 2 of the other OP, blue gets the last OP

honestly if blue ends up getting 3/5 then that's a screw up on red teams part

You can do that too...

So...Tell me, why exactly that Ryze (or any other pro-strong champion) should be OP in pro-play?

Can you give a legitimate reason why that would be a good thing?

Because pro play doesn't reflect the game 99% of us play?

They could just have two different versions and its fixed.

DuskDaUmbreon3 votes

Because pro play doesn't reflect the game 99% of us play?

And that 1% should be unable to play 90% of the roster just so that 10% can be played by the few in Bronze-Gold that would actually want to play them?

Letting 6-7 champions be actually broken (70% winrate levels of broken) just so that they're 50% winrate (as opposed to the ~45% winrate) for the rest of us is not a good solution. Otherwise there's literally zero incentive to climb if you don't want to play Azir, Ryze, Kalista, TK, Galio, or Shen, because those would be the ONLY champions you could actually reasonably win with.

Naalith4 votes

Riot has been known to ban degenerate strategies from pro games before by either banning certain champions or telling players not to play like scumbags (like funnel strat) despite balance not being implemented. I'd rather they just say Ryze, Kalista, Tahm Kench, Azir, etc. are all off limits and we actually get to use them than those characters be rendered useless for the entire community at the expense of pro play.

Just lock ryze out of pro? Along with some more champions like kalista

They have admited that for years...

Are you saying they should leave him broken overpowered in pros because fuck pros?

It makes no sense to balance around bad players. Why would you balance around people that can't actually use characters to their full potential?

Right. How do you balance around players that don’t have an understanding of the champions they are playing with or the macro play of the game? Do you really want the game to be balanced around players that have 100 cs at 30 minutes?

GripaAviara1 votes

Actually is 0.01% :)

Vonyalo1 votes

What I don't understand is why they balance the game around LCS only partially, and partially around low elo. Garen will never see pro play ever - gets nerf because of low elo. Sejuani is trash tier in low elo, but she's still getting nerfed cause of LCS. You can't go both ways at the same time. That just doesn't work.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

Because most of where the balance focus is is plat+ play.

They do however address champions that become overbearing at both the high and low ends of skill, so that no champion is causing too much of an issue anywhere.

the weeaboo1 votes

I don’t get why pro play just doesn’t get a seperate patch from us.

chipndip11 votes

When do people stop insinuating that Riot even turns a profit off the LCS?

Why are these fucking boards so shameless in pushing fake news?

When do people finally get over the fact that we do this every damn year for worlds, and that pro play is a huge reason as to why LoL is what it is today?

Śhunpo1 votes

I especially love it when they intentionally break Graves, Jhin and Kassadin just for Worlds, leaving the rest of us to suffer.
