Fizz E

It's such an overloaded ability, but fizz does not really have an overloaded kit. That's because everything of fizz is on that one ability. If he uses it, everything he basically has is on CD, so if it goes on a long CD, you 100% DESTROY fizz in every way.

Yes if you buff all his other skills to compensate.

Nobody cares about Nasus. He can farm freely for 40min and still hes useless.

it has a 16 second cooldown early game and he needs quite a bit of cooldown reduction to make it short, personally I don't mind it

I don't really hate Fizz, I don't frequently go to the mid lane and I tend to take tanky champs anyways so Fizz becomes more a problem for my squishy teammates than myself. From what I can see, people's problem with Fizz stems from his E, but it's not just one single consensus.

I think ultimately the issue with the skill that people have isn't that Fizz gets to go untargetable, or that he is allowed to re-position himself irrespective of what is happening, as Elise and Vladimir have the same class of invulnerability as Fizz, in fact compared to their invulnerabilities (which can last upwards of two seconds), his is quite short and only lasts 0.75 seconds.

The problem with Fizz's E is that 9 times out of 10, to 'bait' out the E, you have to give up something of equal or greater worth.

Fizz being able to juke skill-shots is well known, and in fact most Fizz players WANT to juke an important skill-shot, as that skill-shot will be on cooldown once they use Playful and then Trickster into your own champion. And the problem inherent is that there isn't a really good way to bait out the E without putting yourself in a vulnerable position. Fizz wants to get into melee range and burst people down, which screws over most squishy ranged mages who often rely on skill-shots that Fizz can avoid and then have to deal with him up-close.

And the other problem is that there isn't a lot of inherent counter-play compared to someone, say... Zed. Yes, everyone loves to hate Zed but he has clear counter-play in that his shurikens and shadow slash are skill-shots, which can be avoided because the shuriken is just a standard skill-shot and his shadow slash is quasi-melee-ranged. The clones are not something that pop in and out for a split second, they stay where they are and telegraphs where Zed might act, which gives a lot more for an enemy laner to chew on and mentally process than when facing a Fizz.

However, Fizz doesn't use skill-shots outside of his ultimate, everything else is either some function of mobility or, in the case of his W, a passive auto-attack execute with an active component. Once Fizz has gotten into melee range of you, he doesn't need to use his cooldowns for anything else than insurance, he has every means to kill you without using abilities to damage you.

The last thing that people often forget is Fizz's passive: Nimble Fighter, which passively makes Fizz ghosted and reduces the power of basic attacks against him... which basically means Fizz is free to harass you even if you have a full minion wave attacking him in your defense, whereas your own minion wave can block and therefore trap you, especially with the amount of creep block running around lately.

The champions who defeat Fizz in-lane are those who are very close ranged and who can burst him down if he tries to get in on them, and thus punish him for simply trying to play the way he normally would. Many of them build a bit of defense (Ryze often builds tanky, Mordekaiser is just tanky even without building items, Diana builds Abyssal Scepter) and then damage so that they destroy Fizz before he can do anything meaningful.

Those champions WANT him to get up in their faces so they can just smack that grin right off his own face, champions like Malzahar who punish all-in assassins, Akali who can go invisible and screw over Fizz trying to get onto her, or Lissandra who has her own inherent invulnerability in her ultimate and - unlike most non-assassin mages - can easily re-position herself if she feels threatened.
