Should Kindred-Wolf be considered a melee unit?

Hey. I had a thought. What if Kindred (W) Wolf was considered a melee unit and could take advantage of melee items. For example, sated devour would active on every other attack for wolf (W) while Lamb would be every forth attack. Wolf (W) would also be able to use the melee aspect of item 3074 and item 3748. He wouldn't have a health bar or anything. It would make Wolf less of a pet to lamb and make them more like 2 champs in 1.

If sated devour would be too op then they could reduce Wolf passive damage. The extra on hit would only proc with Wolf phantom hit.

That might make some thematic sense, but from a gameplay perspective you'd be building melee-only items on a marksman just to add more power to a single ability. From a balancing perspective, having W up would also mean you'd apply double on-hit effects, which would likely be a bit too much on a kit that already heavily encourages attack speed and on-hit synergy.

Thanks for reading. The W would not apply on hit effects on its own nor every attack. It would only apply an on hit on every other hit, like azir sand soldiers. Secondly, kindred wouldn't have to build all melee items, kindred would only be able to use the melee aspect of those items through the W. Like item 3074 active/passive would cast from wolf, and not lamb.
