Secret OP Mid Counter to ADC Kog That No One Plays

The answer is always Karthus!

You can't dodge his ultimate and it's going to chunk any squishy. With Rylai's and Liandry's (yes, really), he will also melt that frontline which is supposed to protect Kog. The ult. can even be used as an engage tool near objectives since it will do massive damage and it will be very hard to stop an engage with the massive slow from Rylai's on 5 people. His AoE damage is also so high that the traditional gameplan for Kog of grouping mid-late becomes very tricky.

Why not Zed, LB or Talon, you ask? Those certainly can work but they involve much higher risk to get to Kog and can't really deal with the protective champs usually drafted to save him. They simply lack effectiveness vs beefy frontlines with hard engage. Moreover, it's much easier to siege vs them due to the lack of waveclear. Karthus works so well vs him that if you want, all you have to do is flash near him and even if you die instantly, you create a zone that makes it impossible for Kog to get to the rest of his team and output DPS. This matters a lot more than vs other ADCs because Kog has windows of power rather than consistent damage like Vayne. If your death simply times out his W without unleashing it on the team, he will be pretty much useless during that time.

We've already seen several Rumble jungles, it's time to pull out the Karthus.

Play Velkoz and kill him from your backline. Karthus jungle is really good though, and I'd like to see him more.

Karthus sucks though.

Ekko works too. Just press w out of sight and jump KogMaw . If things go soar, ult and get all that hp back.

Or, you can just play Jinx. Seriously, had a Kog'Maw pick against a Jinx, but blamed me (the jungler) when he went 0/6/0 in lane. Of course, that game was a fustercluck for a bunch of different reasons, but picking Kog'Maw into a Jinx is like picking Gangplank into Fiora, or Caitlyn into Sivir, or Vayne into Miss Fortune.

Really? I thought Jinx was supposed to be weak early too.

Jinx has always had a great early game, solid mid, and then drops off a bit late compared to true hyper carries like Twitch and Vayne.

Because her range is always up, she can easily punish Kog every time he waddles up to grab CS. If he pops W to fight back, she can just back off and wait it out before going back to booping him every time he tries to last-hit.

I've faced a few Jinxes, it only really sucks when you get zapped in a bad position or get caught out in a snare, other than that it can go in either persons favor. It probably favors jinx earlier, though

Don't really recommend the ryliandry karthus. Void RoA Hat and Zhonya are all core and you have to have boots, so there's no space for 2 items. You're either giving up RoA, which is extremely useful to you because all of your survivability means you can actually run out of mana from your E in a teamfight if you have no mana items, or you're giving up Void Staff, which is ludicrous vs any halfway competent team, or you're giving up Deathcap (read: 200 damage on your ult) or you're giving up Zhonya (read: 3 seconds of E damage in the middle of the enemy team). So none of those are really good options.

Rylai's OR Liandry's are both completely legit, though. Rylai helps deal with mobile teams/teams that want to run away from you. Liandry helps deal with tanky teams, and as long as you slow them with W you'll still get bonus damage. Other options are Seraphs if you know you have time to scale and want the AP (the mana isn't that useful, but the damage is awesome), or Abyssal, if you have multiple AP threats OR they have multiple AP threats, or Banshee's Veil if you're dealing with like a Veigar or something.
