Stupid Question about Support Items: What does the quest do now?

I rolled into my first game last night and based on conversation on the boards I believed that the final form unlocked after a quest. This, apparently, isn't the case and I was slightly embarrassed asking the other support how his SS "transformed."

At any rate, the GI items no longer track income (why?) but the star still comes up of you manage to hit the fraction right? What is going on here, and how exactly does the quest relate to the SightStone?

the GI item gives you Sightstone at 500 Gold from said GI item, but the GI item has to be upgraded for it to happen.

But it doesn't change, right? It's just that all of a sudden that item now Active's wards?

The unique passives like Coins 8% speed towards you or Relics Battery Shield has been removed, All third tier GI items have also been changed to be basicly the GI item + Ruby Sightstone

Basically this, that way supports could put more gold into stats like F Idol earlier and get their important items faster

When you complete the quest turns allows you to get Ward charges on the item like it was a sightstone. you get 1 on level up and full charges when visiting fountain. Each upgraded level of the base items can do this and have 2 forms. An "awakened" or "asleep" if you will. That transformation is from a non ward holding form into a sighstone form. THis does not make it into the next tier of item, that happens thru store and standard upgrade. (if you rush them its possibly to get to the max tier of items but not be able to ward as the quest is incomplete.)

Tier 2 support items transform at 500 gold instead of the old 750, and the quest reward is it has the old sightstone active (has 3 wards on the tier 2 verison, and 4 wards in the tier 3 version). Prior to completing the quest those items have no active.

Ok so Tier 1 - just GI Tier 2 - Once you get 500g you get two wards Tier 3 - 4 wards

Any word on why it's not telling you how much gold you have on the item?
