An idea for how to deal with DQ/ranked ladder integrity
Ok, so at this point we all know that DQ is bullshit and ruins ranked for everyone that's not in a 4 or 5 man premade (you can make arguments for 3 man groups, but I won't right now). Here is my idea on how to fix this: everyone gets two (2) ranks. The first is your soloQ rank, that you get ONLY from queueing solo (not duo, solo only). The second rank, is your dynamic rank, and is based on your games where you queue as a duo or larger. Now, here's the revolutionary part: THEY ARE COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT RANKS, BUT STILL ON THE SAME LADDER. Therefore, if you have platinum dynamic rank, but queue solo, you will NOT (necessarily) be matched against other plat players. At the end of the season, awards would be handed out based on whichever rank was higher to avoid the issue of prioritizing one queue over the other.
I think this is a perfect compromise. It keeps the boosted animals out of plat, unless they are playing in their premades, and the premades should be able to compete at that level. It also makes it so that people that like playing with friends can continue to do so in a manner that doesn't incite toxicity. And most importantly, it will save riot from the humiliation of admitting that they fked up with DQ in the first place.
What do you guys think?
Edit: These two separate ranks would require that a player go through 2 separate provisional series. So you can't just get dropped into a high rank because you got carried there and then camp it, you have to play those solo provisionals separately from your dynamic ranking.
Edit 2: This is NOT the same thing that Riot discussed earlier this season. There would be only one queue, but each player would have 2 separate ranks: a solo rank, and a dynamic rank. These ranks would be on the same ladder (so no one is being treated differently) and there would still only be a single ranked queue.
