Can I be reported if I refuse to honor Yasuo/Yi/Jax/Xin Zhao/Zed

Diamond Frostman··3 votes·1,276 views

I always like to honor people after the game, win or lose and I usually honor the enemy team because I think even if they lose, they leave with something positive and nice. However I POINT BLANK REFUSE to honor Yasuo/Yi/Jax/Xin Zhao or Zed players. However I told this Yasuo that I, and I quote "Do not honor Yasuo players because I don't want to encourage them to use such faceroll champs in the future"

and the little bugger reported me!? I mean seriously... are there any champs that you refuse to honor because you feel they are too easy or unskilled to play as so the person playing them doesn't deserve it?

You weren't reported for failing to honoring him, you were reported for passive-aggressively deriding his skill as a player.

Why would you even say "Im not honoring you and heres why." Did he ask for honor? If he did, who cares? I mean, saying such things these days really doesn't matter. Honor him or don't. Just don't insult them. Maybe they like the champion!

I'd report you too, js. You don't need to tell him why you wont honor him. You just look like a toxic fool if you ask me lol. I wana see you play Yasuo for example and not feed your brains out.

No, you cant be punished for refusing to honor, the honor system is built so it is your choice to honor who, when and how you want to. Personally, I never honor Darius, Jax or Yi players for the same reasons. So, continue to use your honors how you see fit.

Careful bro, i know you didnt play so well in your Jax ranked game, but when you do play good a player like this ^ won't recognize your good play. You just played a faceroll easy champion you newb. Get good. -> Summarizing for OP.

Navarune is correct in that regards. I would say never fall into that trap again. It may not seem like you did anything, but a players pride in their skill is something that is hugely sensitive.

why all the hate on yas? he really hard to master

I see where he's coming from... I see Yasuo players instalock him constantly even though we have a team comp with no support for him. It frustrates me to no end when players refuse to work with the team comp.

that the player not the champ

I know, and I'm not saying that as a way to justify reporting them. I've just noticed that it tends to be a common theme among Yasuo, Vayne, and Master Yi players, specifically. The Yasuo problem is especially frustrating for me because he needs the additional knockup engage to really thrive; otherwise, he puts himself in danger every time he looks for a solid teamfight engage.

It depends much more on the person's actions and not his champ, but there are indeed some champs that I don't feel like honoring. Blitzcrank Fiora Fizz Poppy Vayne Lucian Riven Thresh Tryndamere Zed MasterYi Katarina make the game extremely unfun for the opposing team and, more than often, it's not fun to play with them as well. I will not say they are faceroll, but I'd call them "abuse" champs that are extremely often chosen by people who want to roflstomp lower skill players (lots of smurfs love doing that with them too).

As a side note, I know there are other great power picks, but playing against a skill champion (for example Orianna) makes me respect the player and it's fun to play the game even if I lose.

However, as others pointed out, you shouldn't really say anything if you don't want to honor. Just don't do it.

Read again. Or tldr version - no, I don't. They are just unfun to play against. Period.

"As a side note, I know there are other great power picks, but playing against a skill champion" that what it seem like to me saying you like play vs skill champ and then saying i don't like play vs them means you think they are no skill champs

"I will not say they are faceroll, but I'd call them "abuse" champs..."

He made this clarification after his list. I actually disagree about the Thresh in particular, as I've been able to punish a Thresh pretty effectively, but I still respect his opinion here.

It is not that Thresh is unbeatable, but he is probably the 2nd best support right now and has been in top 3 for quite some time. Easily chainable long to mid range CCs, an inbuilt long range disengage/shield AND still goddamn tanky to boot.

He has a fairly high skill floor though, so at lower elos more than often people don't do with him well. However, when Threshes literally flash+flay+hook+ignite and instakill full HP AD without losing 30% of HP, it's somewhat sad. It would even be fine if he fell off late, but his E utility, Q range and easy CC chaining keep him very relevant all the game.

His damage isn't all that great, though, so the full combo alone typically won't earn the kill without follow up from his carry. And as Thresh you also have to know WHEN to go for the flay/hook or hook/flay combo or if you even should combo, as well as Lee Sindrome on his q.

His skill requirement and required game knowledge are definitely higher than most supports, but like other hard-engage champions a Morgana pick or even a decent Janna can make his life (unlife?) rough.

I do assume his ADC isn't a bag of bricks and does land some autos and skills during slightly less than 2.5 seconds of CC. I think it takes 3 autos from ADC to kill at level 2, but don't take my word for it as I haven't played Thresh in quite a while.

Thresh vs Morgana is a skill matchup at best. While Morg can really deny some hooks, Thresh is much tankier and can take 3-4 hook misses without any lasting punishment. The lantern's utility and junglers sway this matchup to Thresh side by a lot as he can lantern in a roamer/jungler/adc or save his ADC when he is being ganked. Lategame, Thresh is a peeling secondary tank too while Morg is a backline caster, so Thresh has much more utility eventually cause people are really not inclined to play tanks and often the only tank on the team must be the support.

Assuming that no one else comes botlane over the game and Morg never misses Q, mistimes E and her ADC knows to back off when her E is on CD, it can be considered a Morg favoured lane. But.. those are a lot of conditions to be met.

... But let's get back on track. My point is not that he is unmanageable. My point is, he makes the lane for the opponents unfun. Being under constant pressure to fall into a CC chain, having limited ways to punish missed hooks due to inborn tankiness and having enemy jungler teleport from river as well as enemy ADC teleported out during own gank is sad.

Navarune1 votes

To me, unfun=unmanageable. If it can be managed, then the potential for enjoying the lane/game remains. This is strictly semantics and doesn't really translate to a global opinion.

I would also argue that Thresh has no innate tankiness. Sure, you take tank runes and masteries, and he will definitely benefit from building secondary items for tank, but before his second buy he's relying strictly on pre-game factors. Nothing in his kit aside from the shield provided by the lantern gives him tank stats, and it is generally maxed last.

I will agree that his late game utility is hard to match, and that Morgana is only a soft counter in lane. But, Morgana and Thresh are designed to do different things. Morgana is counter engage and pick, while Thresh is more hard engage and pick. Ultimately their worth as a pick is determined by the team surrounding them, as is the case with nearly all supports.

Personally, I don't respect the choice to refuse to honor a player just because they picked up an assassin. Sometimes it's what your team needs, and a lot of those players do play to the team's needs. I get it if they just run around killhunting and not working objectives, but refusing to respect someone for their pick is just blind bias, imo.

I'm not meaning to cause offense, though it probably sounds that way. I just think that a player should be honored if they use their champion properly and aid the team, regardless of what that role may be.

If you get reported like this...its pretty obvious who sent the report - report them for false reporting.

yasuo's a weird champ...he takes an annoying amount of high maintenance activities, which can be the equivalent of skill, but against certain champions, when a player actually has the skill to maintain control, he just rolls over the opponent

DeathBurst1 votes

I mean, you should honor the players behavior, so I think that refusing to honor a given champ, whatever the champ, is kinda childish. That being said, honors are not a due, and I wouldn't report anyone for refusing to give honor. So hum, 1 point each, try again?

Boulderox1 votes

holy hell... if you get reported for NOT doing something you can optionally do....and has no effect on you or the other person in ANY way other than a stupid bow....... something is wrong..

Wenderwall1 votes

I play both Yi and Jax, but don't expect to be honored, i play for fun and learning. Then again if someone keeps on poking me, passive-aggressive then yeah will report that player.

Then again, i won't report just for one statement like "I won't honor you".

Also I pick champs based on team comp, and will disagree with your remarks that Yi or Jax are no skill players. Well that's another discussion and individual perspective.
